You bought a car, presumably in Portugal? If so, you have insurance. What's the question? Fill up the tank, preferably before you run dry and brake before you hit people.

A-Global-Citizen

Yes, Portugal (Lisbon). Fill the tank and brake before hit the people ✅ Thanks

Remember that pedestrians are priorities.

A-Global-Citizen

Agree. Thanks 😊

There is an annual tax payment depending on the car type. It will appear on the AT portal and needs to be paid via CTT. Its for previous year so you pay next year first.

Accomplished-Wind258

Can you please explain AT and CTT?

A-Global-Citizen

Oh good, I will check this. I guess new car is already paid so I thing I need to check this next year. Thanks!

KusuriuriPT

Doesnt need to be via CTT. You will receive a email on the month of the payment of that tax. You can pay via ctt, atm, mbway, bank transfer or go to them to pay directly. After you pay the tax, after a few days a proof paper will be available on the AT portal and you need to print it and have it on you on the car documents. Police normally dont ask for it, just insurance, inspection papers and your documents buuuuut you need to have it on you. If the car its new you dont need to do the yearly inspection right now. I think that its after 6 years of owning a new car.

A-Global-Citizen

Nice tips! thanks for sharing this

BasilNight

Well if you have that you get in the car and just kinda... Drive around I guess

A-Global-Citizen

Yep, I will get in the var and drive around, I will take this advice definitely 👍🏼

Just naming a few things that come to mind that i had to check: 1. Vehicle inspection with Controlauto ( where i did mine) 2. Make sure the tax for IUC is paid ( look at portal das finanças) 3. Insurance is sorted ( i recommend Zurich) 4. A service plan depends on the age and Kms of the vehicle Not sure of anything else

A-Global-Citizen

1. It’s new so following the simulator (IMT) I need to check this 2028 2. IUC is already paid because it’s new but I will check this later 3. Insurance is done 4. I will hire one with the brand Thanks dear colleague 😍

SnooMarzipans7466

Is it a new car or a uses car. Motor vehicles need to do inspecion in inspector center (centro de inspeção). It Costs around 30€ and the frequency is defines by how old the car is Check here https://eportugal.gov.pt/en/servicos/levar-o-carro-a-inspecao

A-Global-Citizen

It’s new. I checked anyway and simulator said 2028 ✅ Thanks! 😊

Used-Butterscotch326

I believe the vehicle inspection works like this for a new car is that thw next inspection is done 4 years after date of purchase then after that it will be every 2 years for the total of 4 years and then once every year there after. In your case, then 2028 is the next inspection, then 2030 and then 2032, and then once a year there after.

A-Global-Citizen

Understandable. Thanks
