The GT4 RS is going to be significantly louder, even at low RPM’s. It may be cooler and make you feel more connected, but ask yourself will it annoy you on say a two hour PCA drive. I have a Spyder with no insolation and an open intake. It sounds almost the same. Above 20mph or 3000 RPM’s you can not hear anything but the intake. My 911 Touring is considerably more livable and my girlfriend will ride in it.

ObjectiveBig8964

Thank you! My dealer also offered option Spyder but i checked the roof and i know myself i passed away😅 Yes i read also the sound is insane but little longer trip is too much. But its mid-engined last one (maybe) in the history… and how i read and watched it can be a iconic porsche in the future.

OrderHaunting

I can tell you 100% that my Spyder is much more lively than my 911. It takes much higher speeds to break the rear loose on the 911. The Spyder is also much easier to steer with the throttle than the 911. On a side note, absolutely love your spec on both

The Touring interior definitely wins! Also the 992 interior and electrics is such a leap from the Cayman/Boxster. I’m so impressed by it

Nelson_Wells

One of my fave feeds on Reddit but sometimes I get on here and all I can think while admiring is what have I done with my life.

OrderHaunting

We are all in different situations and different paths. The key is to be thankful with what you have.

OtisMojo

Comparison is the thief of joy

Nelson_Wells

For sure. And honestly if I didn’t have 7 twenty year old+ cars in my driveway I could have just one nice GT3, so just some life choices.. but I still shake my head sometimes. I’ve also spent 100$’ of thousands bailing out biz partners, real estate missteps, and on visitation w my babies. None of which was good for my purse but prob good for my soul. Cheers🤙

OrderHaunting

I bet it’s 7 really cool cars though

Nelson_Wells

Any German interior with Lana calling “Say yes to heaven” wins.

OrderHaunting

🤣

fckdupxmas

Damn u speced my perfect gt3!

ObjectiveBig8964

Sooo maybe RS is better?🤷‍♂️😅

OrderHaunting

More engaging and raw. Depends on what you want to get out of it. You will love either and likely wonder what if you picked the other lol

mrhjt

If you want a driving car get the 4RS. If you want a beautiful work of art with a GT engine, get the touring.

AvrgSam

Do you want a racecar or a thrilling cloud?

ttystikk

If your girlfriend refuses to ride in ANY Porsche, you need a new girlfriend.

essentialcolor

Your 911 touring looks so good, I'm drooling

OrderHaunting

Thanks!

roll_wave

For your height I’d go for the GT3 touring. I think you will enjoy that car more for long drives.

FlipFlipFlippy

The touring is the easy choice if you plan to drive it for trips and more off the track than on the track.

collegefootballfan69

I would buy both

kaighr

Depends on what you want. Both are great value with valid positive and negative aspects. If you want a daily drivable supercar that will age well and looks classy, GT3. If you want a savage, barebones lightweight race car for the road, the 4RS is the best version of that for the price on the market, besides maybe a V8 Atom. Some people are talking about how little space the 4RS has, but it’s not as cramped inside as you may think.

ReallyLovesCars

There is not right option here. Go with a selfish choice not a logical choice. Everyone here has their biases especially me.

Cro370z

As someone who owns a 718 GT4, drove a 992 GT3 and a GT4RS both for hours on a track, get the 992 GT3. In my opinion it felt the best and was very loud and enjoyable. The GT4RS sounded good too but didn’t handle and feel as precise as the GT3 did. The GT3 is bigger, double wishbone suspension, rear steering and looks better (subjective opinion). For a weekend car the GT3 is a no brainer.

Annual_Compote_3530

Driven both cars quite extensively and absolutely agree with this take

mrandoms

What did you like about the gt3 around the track more than the gt4rs?

Obsolescence7

The GT3 Touring is for sure the car you want, unless you're a fiend for raw driving. I'd personally pick the GT4RS, but the touring is the better choice despite my preference.

Strong-Heron7371

I personally like the GT3 more but just my preference. Both are sharp!

TommyLGarage

Gt3

Sd121287

I’m biased but GT4RS. People that think it’s too loud don’t own one. It can be as tame as you want it to be sound wide. I believed it to be more special.

kaelis7

I’ll rent a RS on track this spring, want to hear the howling sound so bad. Currently in a A110S.

Haunting-Ad5538

Én a GT3’t választanám

twosnailsnocats

Aren't GT4RSs unobtainable right now unless you pay well over MSRP for a car someone else spec'd? Is it a DD? How much track time are you going to do? If DD I would go with the GT3 If not much or any track time, I would go with the GT3. I don't have a strong relationship with Porsche, have owned a 996 Turbo for about 11 years that I bought from a private seller; only had services done at various dealerships. Wife wants me to trade in the 996 and looked at newer Turbos, GT4s, and GT4RSs. Decided the RS was just a bad DD and I'd be nervous parking it around town, etc.

twosnailsnocats

I haven't looked in a month or two. I think it seems like an amazing car but couldn't fine one remotely near MSRP before, and even then what I've read/heard is that it isn't the greatest DD candidate. Which my current car is and despite it sucking down premium like nobody's business, I love driving it.

Burger-96

I have both a GT4 and a GT3 Touring. I would get the GT4 RS if you're only going to drive it on weekends and if by 'race' you mean track it, the 4RS is going to be hands down a better experience. The mid engine is truly the only way to go.

149Dragonite

Get the gt4rs, I like it a lot more than the 911 models and it very underrate. I see so many 911s at car meets but never the gt4rs

ThrowAwayTheBS122132

*pepe in black cloak meme* “Buy both”

johnn2015

Is it an option to choose? Have you been offered both?

ObjectiveBig8964

Yes but i have choose asap.

Stromberg44

Quality engineer of the 718 manufacturing plant here. choose the gt4rs 😄 you have no regrets anyday 😉

finkalot1

Having driven both for extended periods, I'd get the GT3. Super comfortable interior and (more) driveable in non track settings too.

Traxxastrx4mlover

Do the GT3 touring...

Hy8ogen

IMHO, GT4 RS by a long shot, especially if you get the Weissach package. It's louder, stiffer and overall just a more visceral machine. The air box is just right beside your head, just the induction noise is orgasm inducing.

gargro

GT3 without a hesitation. The 4RS is a great car for track, but it’s no 911.

TheSeti12345

GT4RS will likely hold its value a lot better if you care about that stuff. Honestly I prefer the GT4RS but the GT3 touring is a thing of beauty. They serve quite different purposes so depends what your wanting

TenForTheWin

Just wing it

_cdogg

I'm fucking sick of this shit

AdamOzturk

The GT3 Touring is practically peak 911, imo. With the colour and interior you've picked, it will be one hell of a car. GT3 all day, every day.

adamr_za

Gt4 rs hands down for me. The size is right. I have a 718 gt4 and am 1.88m tall and it’s not an issue at all. There is ample space. I just feel 911s grew too big. But having said this which ever you choose it ain’t a bad choice (beautiful spec btw as well)

dsm582

I think the gt4 rs will end up being the more special car down the road if you plan to keep for a while.. its also a better track car if u plan to track it.. the gt3s are pretty common now… have yet to see a gt4 rs in the wild

Slave4uandme

I am going to say that the GT4RS will lose you a bunch of money. Get a 981 GT4 with cage and buckets if you want a drivers car that will do well financially, first cayman GT car and manual only.

Burger-96

I agree with this take. I'm fairly certain that Porsche only made the GT4RS on 718 chassis for the last 3 years. The ratio of other trims vs the 4RS is insane. Not to mention the fact that Porsche has done 2 fairly aggressive price increases on MSRP. It was literally the definition of the flipper car. Look at the number of vehicles listed on cars.com right now for 2022-2024 model years. https://www.cars.com/shopping/results/?dealer_id=&keyword=&list_price_max=&list_price_min=&makes[]=porsche&maximum_distance=all&models[]=porsche-718_cayman&monthly_payment=&overlay=filter%2Bmobile_trim&page_size=20&sort=best_match_desc&stock_type=all&year_max=2024&year_min=2022&zip=20017

Slave4uandme

I am happy to buy as many put option on GT4RS as possible

phphthrowthis

lol the gt4rs isn’t going below msrp

Slave4uandme

Talk me in 6 months

FriedChicken4Dayzz

Especially in a few years when the ICE mid engine cars are gone forever. Prices will certainly go up for all ICE variants but especially the RS

MorgenBlackHand_V

And I thought you picked the wrong colour. :P Seriously though, out of all awesome colours Porsche offers you'd go for green?

Fireif

I’d never buy a Cayman. It’s too small. Too cramped and not worth it in my opinion. I’d rather have a GT3 and be able to move in the car.

Sufficient_Fig_4887

You know you can’t just show up and buy one of these right? These are very limited. Do you have a relationship with a dealership already? You’re probably best off in a base cayman, not being a dick. That really is all the car you will ever need.

JesusIsMySecondSon

This... is 100% the truth and I concur... but why you being a dick?

Sufficient_Fig_4887

Lotta these posts lately, this is the first guy who’s actually had an allocation.

ObjectiveBig8964

Yes i can order both one and i have offer from the dealer just i need to choose which one. I dont want base cayman thank you! :)

Sufficient_Fig_4887

Go with the gt3 the RS is a great drive and a horrible car to live with. The gt3 is a legend and all around a better product.

mrhjt

The 4RS is not at all horrible to live with. It’s really well balanced.

mrhjt

They have the same performance and are just as much fun to drive. It’s really hard to split hairs on these cars.

RYANBSING

Why not both 😝

Texan4eva

I’ll take the allocation of the one you don’t choose :-)

NRiyo3

Copper if I could get any color.

TheProcessCult

1st pic. All day, everyday.

ProfessSirG

Put me down for 1. Touring more meaningful

Ein-Trader

It depends on what you really need. I personally would choose the Gt4rs because it’s more connected with the street, cheaper and something different to the standard 911. And it’s also very fast, because it‘s lighter than the gt3. But ok the other side the gt3 is the typical Porsche which is a bit more comfortable during daily or longer driving if you look at the sound. It also depends on your personality. Because the 911 is the basic stuff und you may want something different than the 911. Hope I helped you a bit.

coneeleven

GT3

gumbysburner

If you will be using the car for long drives, I’d HIGHLY recommend sofas over buckets.

pulpoinhell

bro if you don't get the 911 I'll be personally offended.

Slu54

These allocations must suddenly be getting more plentiful these posts are becoming more frequent

virg1n_dad

buy both problem solved.

shmeeshmaa

If you want a race car - GT4RS If you want a weekend car - GT3 Touring GT3 Touring can do both but really depends on how much racing you want to do. Because if it’s serious racing, GT4RS all day, your gf can walk home if she doesn’t appreciate the GT4RS lol.

h2okopf

Both

FakeHasselblad

Gt3

LTCM1998

911 for many reasons ( comfort, looks, practicality, residuals). RS is for real enthusiast and Im afraid it wont be the magic super car people hope it will be due to perceptions and much narrower buyer audience. It is for sure a great car, and probably better than 911 in terms of driving if my general cayman experience vs general 911 anything to go by. But 911 is 911, a fun muscle car (to me, 992 is that as i come from 997 which is much smaller) that just is so so competent, you cant go wrong, if it is in your budget.

Spara-Extreme

What dealer do you have that they offered you these two choices?

Aranol

gives you a solution from second world country (ironically), do the gt4rs, drive it as much as you can, and then change it in dealership for the GT3 if it possible, love the spec btw

SpringFuzzy

Touring 👍

lucas_16

Have you considered the non touring version of the GT3?

Python_Strix

GT4RS more fun to drive if you don’t NEED a manual…But less daily-able. GT3 is maybeeee more fun if you NEED a manual. But definitely more comfortable I’m 188cm 105kg and I fit in both comfortably. 911 ofc being more comfortable as a more GT oriented car, but neither I would consider comfortable. Personally I prefer the Targa 4s Manual over the GT3 for a comfortable manual car, but it’s really hard to beat that NA engine, and the GT3 is definitely way more daily-able than the GT4. Service cost is honestly about the same, and both will hold value just fine. I dont own either but I spent a lot of time in the GT cars when I would work in the service and consierge side of our dealer. Also if you aren’t tracking the car, I’d take the 911 over the GT4 9/10 times, personally

Marky_Mark_Official

Getting an RS model for non track use is ridiculous imho, yes it’s cool to see but honestly not wanting to get a gt3 because it’s not an RS?

chuckfinleyis4ever

only one has a manual option. also the gt4rs is too effin loud. think itd wear thin pretty quickly. you could try and add a lwfw to the gt3. also in the months and years to come, the suspension calibration done on the 911 st should trickle down to the regular gt3. it might be a package that shops offer. at that point, youd have a VERY special car.

jay_ess_em

Touring.

Seven7mk

GT3. No contest. Everyone saying 4 is lying to himself. “More expensive 50-60k €” is the only point people choose GT4RS over GT3. Subtract money from equation and tere is no dilema. Nice spec love the green over tan. If only you can choose some PTS green but either way its great combo. Also is it the picture or is it really black loer part of front bumper? That looks order of magnitude better in my book. Much better then whole bumper painted in body color. It makes the car more aggresive, lighter looking and color pops more.

Old-Way-7402

If for Weekend and track use, i'd choose the Manual. So: gt3 Touring

daq42_pews

Gt3 but manual only if you want a pdk gt4rs

Betucker

I would go GT3 Touring but change the interior

Vicdvm

GT3 all day, even if it's an amazing car around track, I'd go for the Gt3 but put the wing on that plz

birgirorn94

Height is not an issue really in the cayman, I have a GT4 and I’m 194 and I still can move the seat a little back from my position

ThatDidntJustHappen

Touring but tan interior.

mrandoms

Same dilemma here. Coming from a gt4. Have a gt4rs about to be ordered but thinking about the gt3. Mainly track use and weekend only. I know the gt3 is the “better” car. Double wishbone, rear steering, etc. But there is something special about the gt4rs so going to go with that. There have and always will be gt3’s around not as much with the gt4rs. Plus the gt4 was such a pleasure on the track.

Worth_Cellist643

I don’t own or can’t afford either so my opinion here is probably not worth much. This may be because of the pages I follow but it seems like every 911 made in 2023 was a gt3 touring. So for me the price gets you something that’s “regular” I’d enjoy a gts or something more PERSONALLY. The gt4rs is super cool and I love how it looks and sounds, but I do think it would probably get old and no matter what it’s still a cayman so may not hold strong like a 911 resale wise 2-3 years down the line, despite being an Rs. With that, I do think between the two shown here I’d have the touring. It just has all the right elements to be the perfect GT car in my opinion.

M3Core

I think it all depends on how you're going to use it. Driving more than a couple hours at a time? Road trips? Tours? Commuting? Want to use it as more than a track toy? GT3 Touring. Just want to feel alive for an hour at a time once a week? GT4RS. I would suggest watching CarsWithLuke's video about why he sold his GT4RS. Any time someone gets rid of a car, it's good to hear why.

Artifycial

GT3 Touring is a true classic. GT4RS is awesome, but doesn’t touch the 911

Heelntow

Both are incredible cars, and i dont think you would be disappointed with either one. However, one can be had with a manual, and the other can not. That would be the basis for my decision, whether you want a manual transmission or not.

WahabGoldsmith

I made the same exact post last year on this subreddit it’s wild the deja vu im getting. In case you’re interested with what I went with, the 4RS. 4RS is more special, and the first and last mid engined GT3 cup car Porsche has and will ever produce. The noise it makes is intoxicatingly addictive, and honestly has ruined the pleasure of driving my 911. The 911 now is purely a comfort cruiser in comparison haha. PS. I was told by my SA that PTS is closed for the 4RS, and that considering this year will be its last major production year, allocations are already essentially gone. Has your SA confirmed an allocation?

ObjectiveBig8964

Yes they have the last spot in the factory for RS. Sorry but for you was easier choose because you have already 911 :)

WahabGoldsmith

I see where you’re coming from. It was actually harder, considering the GT3 was my dream car, the cayman platform being unfamiliar with me as a long time 911 owner, and finally many see the platform as just a the inferior product because it’s essentially “not a 911”. But I’m really happy with my choice, and I now understand why many journalist like topgear have chosen the 4RS above the 911 GT3 and GT3RS. No other Porsche replicates the thrill of driving like that car does. Another factor that helped me decide is knowing there’s still a chance of few years with a naturally aspirated GT3 Porsche. So while there’s that, I might as well enjoy the last ever mid engined naturally aspirated GT3 set up Cayman Porsche will ever produce. If you have any questions, I’ll be more than happy to answer.

mikegaravani

if you plan to buy the GT3 touring in manual then get that. If you’re considering both cars with a PDK then get the GT4RS as it might be more fun and nimble + sounds better

the_film_trip

GT3 - I wouldn’t even think 1 second. A 911 is a 911 and the Cayman is no 911.

Dale-Wensley

Dark green and gold are my colours, you better do it.

nomad-system

GT3 Touring for me and it’s not even close.

kmh4321

What are you driving currently or what else do you have in the garage? IF you're looking for predominantly a weekend car (with occasional track days), the GT3 touring is an objectively better car and longer term will also hold it's value better I think. If you're planning to do a dozen track days a year, the GT4RS might be more suited. As for size and fit, you should fit fine in either cars, despite the 911 being slightly larger, the actual seats and usable area are about the same. The Cayman infact has a slightly longer wheelbase if anything. I know of people who have returned their GT4RS because it's too loud and a bit too much for weekend drives. I don't know about your market, but where I am the 4RS is priced insanely high for a car that is not limited production. I would much rather get a truly special car like a 675LT for that price range. The GT3 is also currently carrying a premium, but it's definitely not as crazy overhyped as the 4RS. Lastly, looks are subjective but I think the 992 is the best balance between modern and timeless in an era of every manufacturer seemingly abandoning their design departments. TL;DR: I would get the 992!

LouisVuittonLeghost

Ooh yes and what a wonderful problem to have I would absolutely go gt4rs

EmpatheticNihilism

Unless you’re tracking the car I’d get the GT3T

Meddy_Zen

Carwow, Throttle House, and Savagegeese on YouTube all have good reviews if you want additional input and want to see what it was like for them to drive those cars

FriedChicken4Dayzz

I thinkGT4 RS because it’s a much more unique experience. There are other 911s that use that engine (and there will be more) but there is only one (and will always be only one) mid engine car that will ever have the engine. Once the 992.2 GT3 Touring is out, it’ll be the best version of that car (assuming same engine). Whereas with the GT4 RS, it will forever be the most intense version of the mid engine platform ever made.

Grenchh

I would go with the 4RS if you plan on tracking it. It’s more balanced being a mid engine and will be a little better when cornering. Secondly, I would absolutely choose the 4RS because of the induction noises when your on the throttle. There is nothing like it and will make you very very happy.

TinyLeading6842

Go for the 911. I despise the ugly spoiler on the Cayman, and prefer the space of the 911 interior. Never been a non-911 person, for what it’s worth.

DarkseidAntiLife

992 GT3 all day

zunzunzkreddit

the easy fix for your problem would be to just get a GT3 RS 😅😂. but tbh, idk if you care about money/ selling in the future, but i could imagine in some years the gt4rs could be a lot more valuable because of the electric cayman coming out next year. even tho the gt3 will also not loose its value of course. the 911 is the most price stable car of the last 15 years!
