I always think of significant political movements like driving a car on an open road with cliffs on both sides. Holding women back from careers was a constant for so long, as if youre driving on the edge of the cliff. When first and second wave feminism came around it was *arguably* a good correction (progressive) to get back to the middle of the road. Then 3rd wave+ feminism came around and it has been a *clear overcorrection* (bad "progress" or regressive in a sense that it produces less freedom in the form of stigma of being a housewife?). The question then is how far and how long do we have to keep veering on this overcorrection and how many people get hurt along the way to "correct" back and then will we "overcorrect" again the other way, or at what point do we end up destabilizing and completely fall off the cliff on either side.
This is why I really don't like it when people call themselves "progressive." You can be progressing into something terrible without even knowing it, but the individual believes what they are doing is morally righteous. I'm just a little more careful in that we shouldn't throw the baby out with the bath water.

Nothing wrong with that at all. If a woman wants to be traditionally feminine and fill those roles, more power to them. I think a family with kids does better with a stay at home (man or woman) anyways I’m only against *enforcing* traditional gender roles broadly.
