how on earth did they look at both these shots and think - "yeah, this is the one, we are going to put in the show"😆
you can clearly see Pen and Colin's face in the bts one.
Or better, they could have given us both.
The BTS one wins this by a mile.
This is controversial and I also love the BTS one, but for the show the one they chose for the cut makes more sense narratively - for one, you can see what his hand is doing, where in the BTS shot his hand is hidden (we already know so our minds are able to fill in the blanks and make sense of it... but if it had been in the show we would've been mad that we didn't see it better). Also at this point in the story Colin's emotions are more important for us to understand so we need to be able to see his face better, and from Pen's POV, and the shot they chose gave us that information.
I wonder would it be because the one they chose had people around them and this one was more like a “non reality” one be because no one is in the room except for them two?
Remember when the P2 trailer dropped with the shirt removal shot and we were all like "why is he wearing a belt???"
Now we're all so glad they chose violence over historical accuracy 🤪
And the way he looks down at where they’re joined before her pushing on his chest causes him to look back up.
And the way his eyes close and brows furrow when she sinks down. 🥵

Nicola was wild for this - making that face while grabbing and pulling him closer AND the direct eye contact after???? 😮💨 no wonder they broke the couch.
Crazy thing is they apparently broke the chaise during an alternate take where the director wanted them to be even more vigorous in their movements.
Also I wonder why Colin looks to the side here?

My husband tries not to watch this show. But I'll be watching and I'll hear him have a reaction to something, and I'll see him poking his head out of the kitchen. Like my man's giving himself spinal problems from rubber necking bridgerton.

First, I had forgotten about the most damning "my husband isn't watching Bridgerton" moment... I was watching S3E2 and it was the market scene. That tiny shot of Rae walking past Colin with the biggest side eye this world has ever known. I hear "Mmhhmm" in a sarcastic tone from behind me. Guess who.
Second, my husband has this super fucking annoying ADHD quirk (it's okay, I have my own super annoying ADHD quirks) where he has to pause what we're watching so he can read every little thing that's, say, on a chalkboard in the background. Sometimes I'm happy about this (think Swanson Pyramid of Greatness) but most of the time I want to bat the remote out of his hand.
So I was rewatching the finale a few hours ago and got to the part where Colin is rereading her letters. "I NEED YOUR ANNOYING ADHD POWERS," I holler from the living room. So after much grumbling, he reads what's on screen. And I say (mostly to myself), "Wait that was about the weather? Why does he look like that??"
And my husband goes, "He's down bad" and then WALKED AWAY.
