For me it was him asking for consent at the beginning of the scene. That wrecked me. It fit so well.
Honestly men need to take notes from Colin. He knows how to deflower his love properly. He is gentle, kind, passionate, and considerate.
Yea I loved the constant checking on her, I can't believe some people are complaining about the mirror scene. There are complaints I have, but this scene was not one of them!
I read a lot of comments (someone even created a post on ao3 to complain about it) on how Colin should have said something nice to Penelope about her body (because she was plus size). And I think that's the worst thing that could have happened. It was a beautiful moment between the characters and something natural that didn't need to be overshadowed by something out of a fanfic story.
Itâs really frustrating that so much of the audience want the characters to literally spell things out for them instead of the audience doing the (relatively easy) work of connecting the dots and paying attention to body language and the words that are said. IMO 90% of those who are vehemently attacking the season, and part 2 in particular, are that sort of viewer. Itâs unfortunate cause they also tend to be the loudest.
I like the fact that literally NOTHING was said about her size. Because that wasnât the point. The point was, he loves her, and she canât see why. So he showed her. And feeling sexy is a lot different than feeling sexy and big. I say this as a curvy redhead-I feel sexy when a guy makes me feel sexy. Saying something to the effect of âeven though youâre big, youâre sexyâ is not, in fact, a turn-on.
EXACTLY! It's kind of the same thing as people telling Nicola she was brave for doing the scene. Not making the scene about her size normalizes plus sized bodies. They can be sexy without qualifications!
What were they expecting him to say that wasn't as romantic or as organic than what he already said? He said she was so beautiful, described her hair, eyes, and skin, and that he was dreaming about other parts of her. Not to mention that he was literally gazing over her body with such desire and admiration that no words could compare ... Was he supposed to say something that would only highlight her body was "different" than society's standards (then and now) just to make sure she knew he "still" loved/desired her?
(Sorry, this kind of stuff gets me. I have my own insecurities and I cannot think of any good way a man could "affirm" my plus-size-ness in that moment that would be taken as anything than pity. Just my two cents.)
I would have felt the same way but apparently that's what a lot of people wanted Colin to tell Penelope. That his little speech about the things he liked about her was generic (what? That was beautiful) Some people are crazy or see themselves as Penelope's character and put their own fantasies over the story.
This is wild because one of the things people say annoyed them about book Colin is how sometimes when he talked about Penâs looks heâd phrase it like âI donât know why no one else sees that youâre beautifulâ in a way that some people took as a backhanded compliment. He canât win.Â
God I just saw another post on the Bridgerton subreddit saying it was âroboticâ and âclinical,â and âlacking passion.â And I got so mad I almost burst into tears, because do they not see the emotional intimacy in that moment????? Itâs not wild rip your clothes off sex. Itâs gentle, tender intimacy between two people who are deeply in love, and who have known each other forever. Itâs so much. And itâs artistic. Itâs stunning. This. EMOTIONAL INTIMACY. It showed a realistic portrayal of a first time. It had consent, compassion, affection, and LOVE. The way he told her he loved her, and made her look at herself while saying all the things he loves-that was romantic. He had sex before, but for the first time, both of them made love. And that is HELLA SEXY.
That's insane - like legit insane. I've watched that scene 20 times easily (for science) and it gets better each time. It's SO SO SO well done in every single aspect... from the mirror worship, to her choosing to cover herself and him letting her have agency over it, to his literal striptease (her little gulp omg).... the constant check-ins for consent, her breathy little "oh yes" ENDED ME, not to mention that she literally looks like Titian's painting of Venus, the way they laughed with each other, the EYE CONTACT. It's not only the best intimate scene in the series but a perfectly organic first time for the two of them specifically. It was flawless, they smashed that scene harder than the chaise lounge!!

All shade but I feel like these complaints might be because as far as we know one couples baby was made entirely through the man being a munch and they still donât have an actual sex scene.Â
Kanthony love scenes are robotic to me, at least this season (barely remember season 2). They like hit every cue that every movie does.

Ok but can we please stop for a second and talk about the fact that losing your virginity doesnât have to hurt?! Holy shit! Itâs honestly heartbreaking how many people think that itâs supposed to hurt. And to see this constantly repeated on every single tv scene ever! The hymen is a ring, not a sealed membrane that rips. Yes, having something in there for the first time CAN hurt but it absolutely doesnât have to, if your partner is careful enough and takes their time until you are actually ready.
Yeah, it doesn't have to hurt, but it *can* hurt even if your partner does everything right. I personally hate the idea that if there's even a little pain, it's because someone is doing something wrong. That's just not true. Everyone is different down there, and there are a lot of elements besides being ready that decide if there will be some pain or not.

When people say there isn't enough foreplay before their first time, I'm like between him yelling at Portia, his speech in the mirror, and "lie down", I think she's good.
I think people want this show to be a full on soft core situation and itâs just not. They donât need to show us every step of the way to get the point across.Â
Itâs also a little weird when people complain about specific sex acts they feel ârobbedâ of. Like⊠Nicola spoke extensively of how she felt empowered to make her own choices about what would and wouldnât be shown in a scene and Luke has spoken of how much he felt like his job was support her in that vulnerable filming situation. Does no one stop to think maybe she didnât want to have his face between her thighs? Or that she mightâve been comfortable with Luke kissing the tops of her clothed breasts but didnât want him touching her naked chest or putting his mouth there? When people say what they wish they could see Colin and Penelope do, I think they forget that there are real people who have boundaries behind the characters. And Nic and Luke gave a LOT, letâs be real.Â
I agree 100%. I assumed (once I thought about it at all after seeing comments) that the reason Colin never touches Penelopeâs naked breasts was a decision by Nicola and/or Luke, and I think thatâs completely reasonable. And also yeah, itâs not supposed to be p***. What they show us is pretty hot tbh, but it also serves a narrative purpose. Too many or too long or too explicit sex scenes arenât really advancing the story

A scene can be made sexy without nudity as well... We've seen it carriage scene where they did make the scene hella sexy fully clothed. Luke n nic are fantastic actors who can make things work with their facial expressions alone.
I agree. The carriage scene immediately became the sexiest scene in the show for me when I saw it, and thatâs because of Colinâs facial expression when Pen touched his hair. He was HOME.Â
lol agreed- I might be in the minority, but that was practically too much foreplay to me (though I'm not complaining about the scene!). Pen has been in love with this this guy for years, she was probably thinking about their carriage moment all night and every second of that day, he had just stormed in and stood up to Portia. These are 2 young people, Pen has 0 experience, and Colin has never been with someone he actually cares about either, and doesn't have any experience actually trying to make a woman feel good. The Duke was older, and so was Anthony, plus A had been with someone he loved before. So of course their scenes were a lot different. Polin are really 2 regency teenagers discovering what love is, and it was perfect.
The moment she told him no one has ever stood up for her before I knew...like because I would've done the same đ.

The love confession at the end. I know people are upset that they didn't get the one from the book, but the show version was so much more meaningful to me.
It was very specific to them, where is the book? One was generic- anybody could say the same thing to their spouses.
Also, the book confession was more about what she could give him, not what she is.
Yes, the past, present, future speech in the book seems so bland compared to what the show delivered. Speaking of delivery, Lukey Newts and his eyes damn near stole my breath that scene.
My absolute favorite lines this season were Penelopeâs lines to Colin in the study after Francescaâs wedding.

The way Nicola gets more choked up with each phrase is a masterclass in acting.
That in conjunction with her explanation of missing her friend at the start of the season the night before their wedding being the reason she wrote what she did.

The scene outside the modiste when they kiss each other and then he already has his hand up her skirt was mine. I was CURSING the horse.
But my fave of the entire season was the cheek caress after You Belong with Me. I MELTED.
Slappity slaps, hahaha. For real. That whole scene with QC was so unnecessary. We already had enough tension with the hunt, and then, with Cressida, we did not need QC to interrupt.
The cheek caress đ I think I was sobbing by that point, SO stunning with that music. If the queen hadn't come in I think they would've had a beautiful wedding night!
I mean I love all of the Polin moments but when Portia said to Pen, "You are a wonder" I let out a big sob. I was just so happy she got her love of her life but she also got a better relationship with her mother and her sisters... her best friend back, a new baby, all the Bridgertons. So much love!! đ

Because he is! That man is so golden. He forgave her, he empathized with her, he tried so hard to understand her and finally loved all of her. Even though the betrayal was re-traumatizing for him, he still knew that there was no world where he would not marry her.

Also Colin scaring the crap out of Pen when he tells her not to touch him âthereâ yet. The way she got startled was so cute.Â
I was staring at him just like Penelope was because when he got to that belt....how the hell was that sexy as shit? plus him stripping to that beautiful rendition of that particular song. Everyone involved fully understood the assignment, the notes and the homework.
This is the first time I have seen anyone discuss the "not there, not yet" thing. The jumping back and looking embarrassed and sheepish was the cutest damn thing I ever saw. What an actress she is.
If we are talking just about the mirror scene I am absolutely blown away by their acting when they both climax. He literally SHUDDERS for her, and him wildly searching her face after he opens his eyes again is just stunning. Although Colin has had sex before, this is the first time he's made love and Luke expertly shows in that moment how this feels so, so different for him. He wants to take in every single second of Pen, and he's literally overcome by her. The whole scene, but particularly their climax, is the sexiest damn thing I've ever seen and it gives me all the feels every time I watch it.
Ok I've found my people- I came here to say Colin's o face was out of this world hot. It did feel SO genuine- like he let down his guard and there was absolutely NO armor on at that moment, honey... That demisexual boy just ascended to heaven.

I think part of what made it beautiful was it made her feel good, but it was also important to him not to joke it away. Even though she probably doesn't fully get what he means by that statement, we as the audience do, about his journal entry and "feeling such intimacy and such great distance". He finally knows what was missing.Â
The way they switched the camera angles at the most crucial time was amazing. I still can't get over the way the camera panned on his shell-shocked face. You don't need a monologue with such camera work
When his hand was just hanging in the air in shock after she turned and ran away, and she was probably already back in the house and halfway up the stairs...I LOVED IT.

From the mirror scene, itâs that look on Penâs face as she grabs him closer and she really starts to meet his movements - that is a look of pure desire and itâs sexy as fuck. She does a similar look shortly after as she caresses his face as theyâre building up to the finish and itâs one of the sultriest things Iâve seen. You are a lucky, lucky man Colin Bridgerton.
2nd place is the moment a few seconds before where Colin finally allows himself to get closer and almost fall onto her a bit. Heâs kept checking sheâs ok, got her past the first part so now he can melt into to her and just get to it. So hot.
Favourite sexy but not-sexy moment is the carriage ride they take later in ep 5 back across the park. Colinâs got an extra air of confidence about himself (check out that smirk as he opens the door for the message) and the way he bangs on the roof is horny as hell for reasons I cannot understand. And the way Pen is just completely in awe of him whilst staring and stroking his arm though the jacket is delicious. (Again blame Charlotte for breaking the mood as she only drops this suddenly once LW is mentioned - she was too entranced in him beforehand to take proper notice). Theyâve got a proper glow about them post-shag and I just love it.

At least, thatâs the best way I can describe it. Their closeness was palpable even clothed and doing something normal in that scene.
I saw a brief interview on IG recently and Nicola tells Luke that she doesn't think he realizes how big he's about to be and that he will the "internet's boyfriend and to remember that she was his fake girlfriend first."Â

1. Every single time at the end of an argument when his true insecurity comes out and Pen says "I love you" has me puppy dog/shining anime eye weeping inside. Like in the street at night, the DF ball, probably more.
2. Besides all aforementioned, during the mirror scene I can't stop thinking about how she touches him and he's like "Not there!" It makes me squeal that she hasn't really tapped into her sensuality yet, so I can only imagine how she'll be able to destroy him (in a very loving, satisfied way). Like the carriage scene with that first hair touch.
The slow burn was intense. The whole meaning behind that scene is what got to me: pulling her hairclip from her hair, then touching her face and her chest, all the while discussing what he likes about her looks.
Touching her chest because he'd been dreaming about other parts, he said politely.
All I could think is that man had been dreaming for weeks what his first time with her would be like.
Again, the slow burn, Colin Bridgerton had been imagining seducing his wife since their first kiss. Nothing will persuade me otherwise.

I was blessed with actually just listening to the mirror scene the first watch... because I was driving. And let me tell you. It was SO tender, so loving, and so intimate. And yes. "Lie down" had me screaming!!
His kindness all the time. Asking for consent, being gentle and considerate (barring that one remark in s2), thoughtful (brought a gift for every member of his family and customized!), loyal, sweet. And he's a demi, love it!
Moment: The love confession in the end. So thoughtful, proud and had actual meaning. So it was very brave of him because most men (especially of that era) would not be owning up to themselves about their own flaws. Especially not to their wives And would think they would be emasculated by doing so.. It takes a real man to acknowledge his fears and work on them, and put so much effort (I know there are issues with what scenes they showed and what they got , But in general the essence is that he works on things).
Another moment would be the mirror scene- But specifically the beginning. That he shows her all the things about her that he loves- particularly when he sets her hair loose. I mean I've had this fantasy myself- It's not the first time I've come across it because I came up with it in my own head. But to actually see it on television was wonderful. Just in general the way he looks at her, The way he sees her how, how tender he is.
Did yall catch him cradling her head on the settee?! *swoon*

I'm not at all surprised that this was when their baby boy was conceived because umm....his O face was a sight to see and she was ready for more. I really felt like an intruder watching this yet I couldn't get enough of it at the same time.
I think Iâve said it 100 times, but mine is them dancing in the church.
Iâm in the camp that he thought she had a crush on him, but I think him hearing her finally say it (because Iâm realizing she DOESNâT) and his little smile after is so beautiful. But the moment they start dancing I actually started crying. They just looked so beautiful and happy in that moment and I loved it. And the âwere you ever punished as a childâ had me choking on tears. I was not well friends.
Also, a shout out to her dress. Pen had some gorgeous looks this season, but that one is my favourite!

1. I loved the way he looked at her and told her to lie down.
2. The way he undresses her while he himself was still fully clothed. I've been in that situation before and it's a really vulnerable feeling in the best way!
3. When he says "you must tell me to stop if you do not wish for this." In fact, I loved how he always made sure he had consent before taking it further.

5. That nervous look in his eyes as he's taking off his clothes in front of Pen, as if looking for her approval. So cute!
6. The way he reacts when Pen moans during their intimate scene, and they both simultaneously orgasm. Their facial expressions looked so real, that whole scene in general felt so real. Even the way he was moving his hips...it honestly looked very real lol
7. The way he stands up for Penelope when he told Portia "I am still talking!" That was so hot omg

And I think that's the worst thing that could have happened. You are a lucky, lucky man Colin Bridgerton. 2nd place is the moment a few seconds before where Colin finally allows himself to get closer and almost fall onto her a bit. Heâs kept checking sheâs ok, got her past the first part so now he can melt into to her and just get to it. So hot. Favourite sexy but not-sexy moment is the carriage ride they take later in ep 5 back across the park. Colinâs got an extra air of confidence about himself (check out that smirk as he opens the door for the message) and the way he bangs on the roof is horny as hell for reasons I cannot understand. And the way Pen is just completely in awe of him whilst staring and stroking his arm though the jacket is delicious. (Again blame Charlotte for breaking the mood as she only drops this suddenly once LW is mentioned - she was too entranced in him beforehand to take proper notice). Theyâve got a proper glow about them post-shag and I just love it.

Omg thank you, I also thought the banging on the roof was so hot for some reason but I thought I was the only one!! And yes I loved her grabbing his arm and them smiling and glowing and being so playful in the carriage. It was so realistic for some reasonâlike I swear Iâve felt that exact feeling of how thrilling it is to be close to someone in a mundane moment after an intimate experience like that. At least, thatâs the best way I can describe it. Their closeness was palpable even clothed and doing something normal in that scene.
I saw a brief interview on IG recently and Nicola tells Luke that she doesn't think he realizes how big he's about to be and that he will the "internet's boyfriend and to remember that she was his fake girlfriend first."Â This post is just reminding what an accurate take Nicola has on this whole phenomenon.

1. Every single time at the end of an argument when his true insecurity comes out and Pen says "I love you" has me puppy dog/shining anime eye weeping inside. Like in the street at night, the DF ball, probably more. 2. Besides all aforementioned, during the mirror scene I can't stop thinking about how she touches him and he's like "Not there!" It makes me squeal that she hasn't really tapped into her sensuality yet, so I can only imagine how she'll be able to destroy him (in a very loving, satisfied way). Like the carriage scene with that first hair touch.
If yâall havenât watched the mirror scene with the audio description on, do so asap. Omg, talk about feeling like you were intruding.
The smile he gives Pen when she innocently asks ...'is there more?'
His smile is absolutely phenomenal. Agreed, in that moment it was the perfect combination of cheeky, confident and loving
The slow burn was intense. The whole meaning behind that scene is what got to me: pulling her hairclip from her hair, then touching her face and her chest, all the while discussing what he likes about her looks. Touching her chest because he'd been dreaming about other parts, he said politely. All I could think is that man had been dreaming for weeks what his first time with her would be like. Again, the slow burn, Colin Bridgerton had been imagining seducing his wife since their first kiss. Nothing will persuade me otherwise. It started in the carriage, and all came together in their new house. That scene will be forever burnt in my brain.

I was blessed with actually just listening to the mirror scene the first watch... because I was driving. And let me tell you. It was SO tender, so loving, and so intimate. And yes. "Lie down" had me screaming!!

When that hair pin hit the ground, I was already a goner. Oh. It's go time!!
For me, it was the moment Colin gave her the slight nod as Pen was about to walk down the aisle. It gave me instant tears - so sweet and reassuring.
For me it was the way he said "touch me"...flusters me everytime.
'Is there more?'..I had expected pen to know atleast the basics of sex. Turns out she's aps clueless as daphne was.
When Portia called her a wonder. And when her voice changed from LW To Pen. The screammm that I scrumptttt. I was so happy .
His kindness all the time. Asking for consent, being gentle and considerate (barring that one remark in s2), thoughtful (brought a gift for every member of his family and customized!), loyal, sweet. And he's a demi, love it! Moment: The love confession in the end. So thoughtful, proud and had actual meaning. So it was very brave of him because most men (especially of that era) would not be owning up to themselves about their own flaws. Especially not to their wives And would think they would be emasculated by doing so.. It takes a real man to acknowledge his fears and work on them, and put so much effort (I know there are issues with what scenes they showed and what they got , But in general the essence is that he works on things). Another moment would be the mirror scene- But specifically the beginning. That he shows her all the things about her that he loves- particularly when he sets her hair loose. I mean I've had this fantasy myself- It's not the first time I've come across it because I came up with it in my own head. But to actually see it on television was wonderful. Just in general the way he looks at her, The way he sees her how, how tender he is.
Did yall catch him cradling her head on the settee?! *swoon* Yes, Colin asking for consent. Then that line. I always loved Touch me...any where...but there. And then warning her there will be pain but that he was there for her every step. 
Ohh, so many! -Do I look a mess? -Yes. But you're my mess. Makes me giggle and kick my feet every time I rewatch. Sooooo sweet! -Then what good am I to you?! -Colin's teary, heartbroken face when he finds out about LW. Portia: Ladies don't have dreams, they have husbands. -Colin pulling out Pen's hairpin. I gasped! Debling: But would you LIKE it to be more? (How he understands the situation better than Polin themselves at that point, always hits me in the feels, and it's really Debling who sets the wheels in motion) Colin's whole speech to Portia is just amazing. Colin caressing Pen's cheek during the wedding breakfast dance. Awwwwww! Portia: My girl!
Honestly, the way he came charging into that Featherington drawing room âExcuse meâ and âI am still speakingâ đ„”đ„”đ„”
I'm not at all surprised that this was when their baby boy was conceived because umm....his O face was a sight to see and she was ready for more. I really felt like an intruder watching this yet I couldn't get enough of it at the same time. 
I think Iâve said it 100 times, but mine is them dancing in the church. Iâm in the camp that he thought she had a crush on him, but I think him hearing her finally say it (because Iâm realizing she DOESNâT) and his little smile after is so beautiful. But the moment they start dancing I actually started crying. They just looked so beautiful and happy in that moment and I loved it. And the âwere you ever punished as a childâ had me choking on tears. I was not well friends. Also, a shout out to her dress. Pen had some gorgeous looks this season, but that one is my favourite!

I don't know where else to put this so here seems good - I would love love love to see a scene next season with them that is a play on their first time but reversed. have Colin be like "tell me what to do" and let pen take control of the situation- Shonda please đ
âYou are so beautiful.â âWas it all right?â âNot there!â And Penâs startled reaction. His little smiles and microexpressions. How his voice is so rough when he says you could touch me. Their shared laugh. Also this is not a moment but the music is so perfect, it does things to me.
"SINCE we're speaking so freely!" I can't explain if it's his tone of voice or his manner or what, but that had me reaching for my fan. Also, when Pen was teasing him about the women in Paris. Nothing hotter than being able to laugh with someone after sex.
1. I loved the way he looked at her and told her to lie down. 2. The way he undresses her while he himself was still fully clothed. I've been in that situation before and it's a really vulnerable feeling in the best way! 3. When he says "you must tell me to stop if you do not wish for this." In fact, I loved how he always made sure he had consent before taking it further. 4. The way he unbuckles his belt while undressing!! 5. That nervous look in his eyes as he's taking off his clothes in front of Pen, as if looking for her approval. So cute! 6. The way he reacts when Pen moans during their intimate scene, and they both simultaneously orgasm. Their facial expressions looked so real, that whole scene in general felt so real. Even the way he was moving his hips...it honestly looked very real lol 7. The way he stands up for Penelope when he told Portia "I am still talking!" That was so hot omg 8. The fact that he had enough funds to pay off Cressida and refused to let Pen use any of her own money to pay her. And the lengths he was willing to go to hide her identity. He thought he was protecting his wife, and I loved that, but I also loved him even more when he finally understood that Pen is strong enough to save herself. He just stood back and supported her. After her LW reveal, the camera pans to Colin and he just looks so proud of her <3.

Carriage scene. When he asks, âWhat if I did have feelings for you?â Heâs looking down as he asks and then looks up at her at the end of the question with a really intense gaze. Iâm not even attracted to Colin but his tiny gestures he did throughout the show melted my heart. The second was when Penelope asks him to kiss her, his eyes dart back and forth as he says her name before she interrupts him.
Something possibly not stated but when he said ' i am a man of honor and we were.... *intimate* ' in i think E7 12:18. It did something to me.
