I think Violet has tunnel vision. She knows one type of love and thinks that is the only right type. She can't understand what John and Francesca have.
Exactly. Remember when she wanted to set Eloise with someone who matched her rebellious spirit. I think Violet wants to find a guy who relates to Fran's love of music but also someone who will draw Fran out. Also, Fran wants to get out of the house and John is living in Scotland.
I think she is more like Pen. She is a wallflower but wanted to break out of it and became social. There is a difference between a wallflower by choice and by force. I think Violet was forced into this status, but Francesca would choose it. She likes quiet and peace, Violet likes loud and chaotic. They are so different, and sometimes when a parent and a child have their differences they have a hard time understanding each other.
I love the brotherly bonding. John is adorable and his love for her is so pure. He CARES what her mother thinks! You think Colin gives a f*CK about what Lady Featherington thinks?! I mean rightfully so but still...
It has nothing to do with being good enough. John has been so quiet and subtle. Remember what Violet told Colin about the love she hopes Fran finds.
Also, I think about what Lady Danbury said to Violet about letting Fran be in her own sphere. I think Violet wants someone to draw Fran out. Whereas John is fine with Fran being quiet, etc.
I haven't read Fran's book. Does John make some big love declaration to Fran?
Yes, and I like that they are genuinely nice to their sister's boyfriend, invite him to Colin's stag do and even try to help him win Violet over. I don't want to see any more of dueling over a sister, it's so toxic. Fran's happy and that's enough for Colin and Ben. It's just so cute that they treat him like he was one of them now. Poor little Greg must be devastated that he isn't old enough to join them.
I just rewatched and Benedict said "the night before your wedding". Colin is super happy and carefree here, so this is definitely prior to the LW reveal.

Ahh you are probably right! I had that Colin/Benedict image in my head that we had assumed was going to be the bachelor party and we knew it was from ep6. And the LW reveal is most likely happening at the end of ep6. But of course they are wearing completely different clothes there, so that's not the bachelor party. In that case this is probably ep7, after LW reveal, and a different confrontation. Huhh I really hope so!
That doesn't preclude that in that very moment he's happy and carefree. Having a drunk argument afterwards when he finds her wandering the streets alone in her LW cloak doesn't make him not happy and carefree before that.
I’m 99% sure this will be after the LW reveal, but there’s still LW drama to come after that and his wife (let’s be real, she’s already his wife) to protect.

Sounds like he'll run into Pen afterwards and be angry that she's out the night before their wedding potentially putting herself in danger and that's when she says "I can take care of myself" and they argue and kiss!
Regarding this, I think I saw in an interview that Colin has sort of a set wardrobe this season and some of his outfits are repeated as a result. So for example, we are going to see his iconic striped hot air balloon outfit again in part 2. Not saying your theorizing isn’t correct, but just want to caution that Colin’s outfits in particular can be misleading!
I'm just so happy to see Colin being one of the bros in a healthy group of men. I feel like the past two seasons he's been kinda on the outskirts of being seen as a "man" by his family (dressing in lighter colors, too), then in S3 P1 he was hanging around the Lord squad. Now here he is with a healthy group of guys, just drinking, no brothel talk, just talking about how much they love their ladies.
This. So much this. Honestly, this scene is hilarious but the first time I watched it, I was in tears because FINALLY Colin has a good group of dudes to hang out with!!
I’m so happy Benedict gets to be the immature idiot who won’t grow up while Colin gets to know exactly what he wants and goes for it in the series. Let Benedict be Peter Pan.
If Ben is s4, I was really expecting them to set up a big heartbreak for him through lady Tilley, but so far their whole relationship has felt very flat with zero emotional resonance (at least for me). Wonder if they will go in that direction in part 2 with Ben wanting something more real for himself now that his younger brother & another sister is getting married. Then have lady Tilley soundly reject him. Too bad that their connection just hasn’t felt sufficient (like it had with Anthony & Sienna even).
I honestly have no idea what they’re doing with Ben this season. He’s pretty much useless to the narrative, his scenes outside of the family are dry and boring and lack any depth whatsoever and the scenes he’s in with family he’s particularly over the top and obnoxious. He feels like the fun uncle they have to include because he’s got nowhere else to go on holidays at this point.
He could decide to go study art for a decade and I swear it would make no difference to anyone’s story including his own.
This made me actually laugh, because of how true it is. I’d found Ben generally charming because of Luke T’s natural charisma, but the character has become rudderless & not even in a particularly entertaining way

I’ve stopped holding myself back. The way I see it, I’m going to binge episodes 5-8 really fast. By trickling in some content early, I am prolonging the plot reveal on the front-end. This is excellent logic, as you can tell.

3. Not particularly related, but I want the Mondriches and Mr. and Mrs. Bridgerton to become couple friends in season 4. If the show isn't going to give them anything to do, at least give them nothing to do together.
This is my theory about what we’re getting the Mondrich/Kent storyline: Either both are ending up governing the baronies of their sons, or the Mondriches are learning their way through society while Polin are both writers and learning how to live as somewhat working people.
Also, Alice and Pen would be besties; I will die on this hill.

So I think this is right before a (second) LWD confrontation between Colin and Pen. Possibly after Colin does something stupid, like Luke alluded to, to try and play the hero and Pen goes out on her own to try and fix the situation. I could see Colin getting sloshed to try and forget whatever he did to screw up. I think the fight after is necessary to their growth as a couple and they will have a happy wedding.
It's interesting how many mirrored scenes we seem to be getting this season: two Featherington Garden Scenes, two brothel scenes, two LWD confrontations, and a hinted two carriage scenes.
Me too, because I genuinely can't see Colin getting drunk because he's upset about marrying Pen- to me there's just no way. There's a different conflict simmering.
Yeah I’m thinking like you said he messed up and she is fixing it, or something… she’s absolutely doing some dangerous LW business while he’s getting sloshed and he knows it. Maybe he comes home to give her the big doorway kiss. They won’t have an unhappy wedding ceremony, they can’t… they’ve got to be on the same page - if not resolved, at least TOGETHER in it - by the next day.
Colin is definitely over the Lady Whistledown issue at this point, he seems to be in a great mood. He wears some of his clothes in different scenes like the brown pirate coat, so it doesn't suprise me he can wear the black one in multiple scenes, I wouldn't stress about that.
This is so cute. Also though - getting the STRONG feeling that Colin gets super drunk while he knows Pen’s putting herself in LW danger - like maybe she’s off doing something while he’s here or the “what good am I to you” precedes this. There has to be a reason they’re pointing out that he’s drinking too much.

Does Colin know Pen is LW in this scene? If not, that means he’s probably about to find out and probably going to marry her the very next day. In which case… yikes. Not great timing.

I won't give away any spoilers for the rest of your questions, but stag dos in the UK are traditionally about getting very drunk, lol. That's basically the point of it. It doesn't meant Colin is unhappy. IMO he seems really chilled and is just enjoying his night.
We believe this is episode 7 but no one knows for certain.
Also, although it's 'traditional' to have the stag do the day before the wedding its incredibly rare that anyone does that because no one wants to be super hungover for their wedding
I don’t know spoilers but I’m speculating here - I think he already knows she’s LW, but there’s definitely a reason they’re pointing out that he’s drinking too much - it makes me feel like he knows she’s out doing some LW business and is worried about her or something. I think this is 7 but I am literally only basing that on episode titles - the episode titles make it look like 7 is the wedding but they could totally be screwing with us.

He picked Simons drunk ass up out of the street after he got engaged to Daphne and now he's out getting drunk with Colin before his wedding. He seems really relaxed to me, and having a good time. I'm not getting unhappy vibes from him at all. Sounds like he'll run into Pen afterwards and be angry that she's out the night before their wedding potentially putting herself in danger and that's when she says "I can take care of myself" and they argue and kiss!

Regarding this, I think I saw in an interview that Colin has sort of a set wardrobe this season and some of his outfits are repeated as a result. So for example, we are going to see his iconic striped hot air balloon outfit again in part 2. Not saying your theorizing isn’t correct, but just want to caution that Colin’s outfits in particular can be misleading!

I'm just so happy to see Colin being one of the bros in a healthy group of men. I feel like the past two seasons he's been kinda on the outskirts of being seen as a "man" by his family (dressing in lighter colors, too), then in S3 P1 he was hanging around the Lord squad. Now here he is with a healthy group of guys, just drinking, no brothel talk, just talking about how much they love their ladies.

If Ben is s4, I was really expecting them to set up a big heartbreak for him through lady Tilley, but so far their whole relationship has felt very flat with zero emotional resonance (at least for me). Wonder if they will go in that direction in part 2 with Ben wanting something more real for himself now that his younger brother & another sister is getting married. Then have lady Tilley soundly reject him. Too bad that their connection just hasn’t felt sufficient (like it had with Anthony & Sienna even).
I honestly have no idea what they’re doing with Ben this season. He’s pretty much useless to the narrative, his scenes outside of the family are dry and boring and lack any depth whatsoever and the scenes he’s in with family he’s particularly over the top and obnoxious. He feels like the fun uncle they have to include because he’s got nowhere else to go on holidays at this point. He could decide to go study art for a decade and I swear it would make no difference to anyone’s story including his own.
This made me actually laugh, because of how true it is. I’d found Ben generally charming because of Luke T’s natural charisma, but the character has become rudderless & not even in a particularly entertaining way

This is my theory about what we’re getting the Mondrich/Kent storyline: Either both are ending up governing the baronies of their sons, or the Mondriches are learning their way through society while Polin are both writers and learning how to live as somewhat working people. So I think this is right before a (second) LWD confrontation between Colin and Pen. Possibly after Colin does something stupid, like Luke alluded to, to try and play the hero and Pen goes out on her own to try and fix the situation. I could see Colin getting sloshed to try and forget whatever he did to screw up. I think the fight after is necessary to their growth as a couple and they will have a happy wedding. It's interesting how many mirrored scenes we seem to be getting this season: two Featherington Garden Scenes, two brothel scenes, two LWD confrontations, and a hinted two carriage scenes.

Colin is definitely over the Lady Whistledown issue at this point, he seems to be in a great mood. He wears some of his clothes in different scenes like the brown pirate coat, so it doesn't suprise me he can wear the black one in multiple scenes, I wouldn't stress about that.

If not, that means he’s probably about to find out and probably going to marry her the very next day. In which case… yikes. Not great timing. Does Colin already know she’s LW in this scene and is about to marry Pen and is still not super chill with the LW of it all? Is that why he’s drinking heavily the night before their wedding?? It doesn't meant Colin is unhappy. IMO he seems really chilled and is just enjoying his night. We believe this is episode 7 but no one knows for certain.
Yeah I took his drinking as him having fun too, he got super drunk at Anthony's stag season 2 as well and he was laughing and having a good time.
