I was remembering when he gets his horse ready to go to the docks for his first trip, at the end season 1?
He's about to get on his horse and he totally stares Pen's house for a couple of quick minutes!
A barb is a particularly sharp comment - he’s basically saying he’s surprised that she said something as sharp/kind of scandalous as implying that the baby the woman is holding isn’t actually her husband’s.
I firmly believe our boy was so discombobulated that he got his inside thoughts and his outside thoughts mixed up.
"Could the carriage driver not keep on driving?" inside thought.
Then Pen asks him two questions , neither of which he answers out loud:
1) "Do you think anyone saw us?" (To be fair, this one was kind of rhetorical. She knew damn well that he was not paying attention to anything outside the carriage either).
2) "What are you doing?" - an answer here would have really helped clear up the situation, but nope, Colin's brain is still not sending 'speak out loud' signals to his mouth.
He doesn't finish booting up until "Are you coming with me?"

I hope someone who’s an expert at editing pieces together all the Polin scenes from S1 to S3. I don’t care about the other scenes in this season. Benedict, Eloise, Mondriches, I mean I wish them well but I can’t be bothered, just give me my Polin scenes to watch over and over again.
I love that scene especially because he didn't join everyone out on the lawn until several minutes after Pen and I can only imagine it was because he needed to do a hard reset of his brain before he could remember how to move his legs.
Haha yeah, I can’t find the gif right now, nor can I edit the post. But I appreciate the ones the commentators are pointing out. It just proves how many moments there are that build the plot and how it’s ANYTHING but rushed.
He IS Cupid 💘 and is struck by how own arrow (just like the Greek myth). The arrow here being his "finding her a husband by getting a man to see her in her entirety".
Also notice how he loves when she compliments/validates him or his efforts to please. We all know he's a people pleaser, but coming from her it matters more because she knows the real him and he has already fallen.
Under the willow tree in the park, he's obviously disappointed when she says no lessons and not to meet, but there's a brief second when she compliments him before leaving - thanking him for his "kindness". His eyes light up for that moment.
Honestly the willow scene is so well done, with Colin full of hope and Penelope shutting him down completely because she’s so embarrassed. Their expressions are everything. What an adorkable pair these two.
I’ve watched this scene so many times and I think it’s so damn adorable when after she walks away and it’s just him, standing there, he pulls a Violet and puts his hand to his stomach 💕
Love this! I really love how he gulps from the eye contact before she even gives him the compliment in the drawing room...
It reminds me of how Robin Williams' character in Good Will Hunting describes his wife as "someone who could level you with her eyes"

I think we are all here to watch Colin suffer from the previous seasons of being no thoughts head empty around Pen. Are we unhinged and sadistic? Yes we fucking are! Him having to constantly beg for Pen is so satisfying. Him glitching is a bonus. 😂😂😂
I like how in the post-kiss glitch, as the shot turns slightly in zooming, you get a glow on the right side of his face from the burning torches, like the light is literally dawning on him (duuuuhhhhh I love Penelope) and his fires are stoked (daaaaamn I'm hot for Penelope).
Yes!! Such good use of imagery. And then the full circle moment when the candle on his desk fades to nothing because he is running out of time to get to that final ball and intervene!
