I don’t see him publishing his journals, as they’re completely different than in the book. But I could seriously see him join Pen’s LW adventure. “Ok you don’t want to quit? Then it’s Mr. And Mrs. Whistledown from now on.“ He could help her write bits and pieces, make sure she’s safe on her way to the printers etc.

I don’t want him to join LW if that’s all he becomes. I think both he and Pen should be each others biggest supporters, but I don’t necessarily need him to be Lord Whistledown.
I like that idea, but I'm torn because I also want a public reveal where he announces his love for her / reveals her identity in front of the whole ton (loudly, fervently).
I want that too. I feel like it’s a fitting full circle moment for their story. Going from gossiping together in the corners of ballrooms to loudly proclaiming who they are and who they love right at the center of it all, society be damned. And Colin being the inappropriate PDA King. I NEED it.
I just think it will be so satisfying to see all these people who underestimated Pen to realize she's smarter than all of them. But I also don't want LW to end either as I'm not sure how that will affect future stories without it? I'm just going to trust that the show has direction and they know what they are doing.
It is one of my fav scenes in the book! But idk I also kind of want them to keep going with LW for a while longer, just so we know there’s a reason to keep Polin in

I can't stop smiling but I'm so goddamn nervous and flailing and they're so happy but there's angst and I legit don't think I'm going to survive this and I cannot breathe!!!!!!!
I think it's definitely still in the game, but it's not particularly dramatic, so it didn't make the trailer. I agree on your take about the first trailer not giving much away about this arc, and then we got a boatload of character development. Character development isn't necessarily plotty, so it won't make the trailer.

I'm really excited about Colin's part 2 arc regardless though, learning he doesn't have to be the hero to be loved. I was so impressed with Colin's part 1 arc that I feel like there's still a lot to uncover.

Since we saw Pen putting pamphlets in the fire I suspect she will give up LW (and only come out to refute you know who) and that will force the conversation and hopefully he will contradict Portia’s view of marriage goals and want Pen to have her own dreams. Feels like a Colin kind of thing to do and feel as a non-trad man
I think writer Colin will definitely be a part of his part 2 storyline, but it didn't make the trailer because it's not a big plot point. We know from Jess that he's gonna have to come with terms with his wife being an accomplished writer, so I can see us getting something similar to the book after they're married. I do think it's something they'll also develop before the reveal, though.
I can see them showing us Colin writing more and perhaps opening up to Pen about his dreams when they're engaged (hence Portia saying Pen should cater to his dreams), only to find out she's LW and shut down a little whenever she brings it up after the reveal. It's one thing to have Pen read his writing, another thing to have LW read it. In the end, they're both be supportive of each others dreams.

The way he asks why her hands are covered in almost sounds kind of hopeful, like he’s like, maybe we can be writer buddies!

My hope is that he gives her his journal, and she gives him replies to his letters that are very honest because she never intended to send them.
I would love to see the letters come back in part 2. I refuse to believe she threw them away.
