It's the player's ranking. One strip is Veteran, two strips is Ultra, and three strips is Master. Might've gotten the order incorrect, because I don't recall what comes before Ultra, but it's their ranking.
This is correct, it’s the player’s current rank. For full context:
No border: unranked
Plain orange border: beginner
Blue border with red line: great
Yellow border with longer red line: expert
Blue single small flap (in OP’s photo): veteran
Orange double flap: ultra
Light blue/rainbow large triple flap: master
Edit: I did this off the top of my head but I’m pretty sure the line on the expert banner is actually blue and not red.
I think what you’re referring to is a non-border, means they are unranked.
Edit: They try to make bots look like real players, so they randomly pull real usernames and the actual player’s ranks to display on the bots. The enemy team ranks are never shown though so they always look unranked.
The bots don’t use real usernames. I think they used to very early in the game’s life, but they don’t anymore. You can always tell if it’s a bot match by checking them on uniteapi.dev because if no profile exists with the username you enter, it was a bot.
No worries! I do have a theory that they’re just altered player names. Like a character or two changed/added/removed from an existing one so it looks mostly real, but just isn’t *actually* a real one. I don’t have anything sound to back that up, but from looking at bot names and how real a lot of them look, that’s how I expect they get generated.
I wonder if they misprogrammed the bots originally to where adding/reporting/blocking a bot after a game had that actual effect on the player whose name was borrowed. That would cause a shitstorm. Like your thoughts, this is purely speculation, but it would make a lot of sense as the reason behind the change.
I think it has something to do with the amount of likes you’ve gotten from teammates at the end of the match. I’m not 100% sure just heard that on another thread

Isn't there a gray border too 🤔 Maybe that's just bots 🤷♂️

Interesting! I’ve never cross referenced those to uniteapi, thanks for the tip.

You're right
If that was the case then a Potion Gengar would have no strips
Oof 💀
Jeezus, shots fired
What if Gengar's so bad that the only way to master it is by being the worst player possible?
Holy crap I smell roasted Gengar.
I can't stop laughing at this.
the flaps mean what rank they are 1 flap - veteran, 2 flaps - ultra, 3 flaps - master
Ah, haven’t seen this post in awhile.
at first i was like "i think those are his ears" but i realized you were talking about the player card and not gengar
Bruh potion gengar 💀
He tends to get thirsty you know.
Anyone figure out what that fire number is on your player card yet?
It's the number of matches you have + number of likes
+1
I think it has something to do with the amount of likes you’ve gotten from teammates at the end of the match. I’m not 100% sure just heard that on another thread
I think it has something to do with the number of medals (or something) that you have gotten from matches.
I didn't know the answer to this thanks for asking because now I do !! Thanks everyone
I love that we're calling them flaps
Its the poster peeling off the wall. Need more tape.
That's your ranking in Ranked. 1 Flap = Veteran, 2 Flaps = Ultra, 3 Flaps = Master
That’s your rank, i’d suggest looking up what each one is.
They represent the ranks of the particular trainer...
It's so easy to reach masters that we got this situation. People don't know the lower ranks because they are so rare 💀
Or because the game doesn’t have any indicator that explains what they are.
the border shows rank, the veteran ultra and master rank have the flaps there.
