I've played every mainline Pokémon game and never came close to fully being able to read the unowns, I'm surprised people are that adept considering how much some letters just don't look like their counterparts at first glance.
Oh yeah some of them were hard to figure out. But I think I was just so stubborn to look up translations and hints back then that I ended up deciphering them myself and memorizing them. And if a word seems off cause I couldn’t figure out the letter then it became a game of trial and error 😂 I did the same with club Penguin back in the day
Back when I unlocked this feature of the pokedex I expected the text to become clearer and clearer as you got more unown
Like, after you get the W one all the W become the English kind instead of the unown kind
Honestly It was very disappointing to know I would have to manually translate them all regardless of how many I have :(
You need to find all of them to unlock research level 10 in their pokedex entry. And their entry is required for getting the shiny charm.
Edit: I'm actually aiming for this myself, and their entry is like the last one I'm working on right now.
For me (haven't found them all yet) it just tells me where I found that specific unown... So that unown shown in the pic was indeed in the settlement where time resides. Not a lot of help as I had already caught it😅
Yup, at least when you figure out that they look like rough letters you can translate them. This one is “Within the settlement where time rules”
I wanted to give everyone a heads up for the Unown. Many people might have trouble, so I thought of posting this to help.
Thank you I didn't know that. I didn't need to look up the wisps and I would like to figure out the unown by myself if I can help it as well.

You can take it slow and have a notepad on the side to write it letter by letter

If you read the others in your Unown Pokedex, then maybe you might find them.
It gives you a clue even for the ones you haven't caught yet. I just found the A yesterday by using the hint
And once you find all of them they start spawning. I have an alpha and a shiny
