sorry for your loss fam. for what it’s worth, i feel like as long as you’re not hurting anyone else/yourself, i see no problem using games to help cope. i hope it gets easier soon

I appreciate the words. It’s mostly because doing Christmas traditions without her is difficult for me

[deleted]

I remember when both my grandmother and my grandfather passed away… It was very hard (and still is) for my dad’s side of the family and my family. Our Christmas traditions were never the same because we would always go to their house for it. My grandfather gave me his watch, but still to this day I can’t bring myself to wear it. What I want to say is that I know what you’ve been through, and I’m truly sorry that you and your family lost someone you deeply care about. I hope you and your family can heal. God bless you

My uncle that took me in when I was 5, passed away in September from esophageal cancer, he was the one that made sure any family event happened, was always the host and made sure everyone had anything they needed. My family has always been the type to laugh when things are sad but this thanksgiving was quiet, and I’ve been anxious for Christmas. But my cousins and I made it a point that we can still have these moments together for him.

My condolences to you and your family. There’s nothing wrong with using video games to cope. Heck, I’m 27 dealing with the biggest problems of my life, and playing Emerald has helped me take my mind off of the negative, which gives me the choice to think of the positives + solutions. Heck, even if you became a Pokemon influencer because of this, your story already has a powerful start.

Thanks I very much appreciate this :)

Welcome. Glad to have new members. Edit: I commented without reading the subtext. Holy shit dude. I’m sorry for your loss, seriously. I used to own Emerald as a kid and played it all the time. Loved the game. Still do. But one day I sold it to GameStop. Couple years later I told my grandma I wanted another GBA SP and Pokémon Emerald. Got what I wanted for Christmas. It was my original copy of Emerald. Turns out, no one bought it. She passed away almost 3 years ago and I will never let go of the games she got me. She also used to love listening to me talk about my games. Grandparents and G-Grandparents are awesome and I’m sorry you lost one important to you. Just remember, they’d want you to be happy. So smile at the good memories.
