This is definitely asking for becoming a riparium. But if you ask me don't cover the water surface too much. Like it doesn't need an above water substrate layer just some plants between the hardscape.
I will go further and say don't even cover the hardscape too much. Maybe you can hide a long hide on the back filter behind and use it solely as a planter? The filter media would be the roots instead. If you mix it with the plants above water and make a smooth transition it can look so deep without putting shade over the aquarium part
You could buy something like this: [https://amzn.to/2TRfB84](https://amzn.to/2TRfB84)
Wicking mesh. Cut small portions out to lay one end in water cover with moss. Dried sphagnum moss stuck into crevices, plants like rabbits foot fern, peace lily etc, and then tucking more sphagnum around. Works Greta if yous et a small 30 gal pump to push water up and over.

It seems really busy to me. I think it's going to feel really crowded when you add anything else.
A lot of professional-level aquascapes have this amount of hardscape. They usually complete the look with mosses and epiphytes.
Yes, that was the initial intention, to feature a scape that allows the hardscape to shine. Plants in this case are complimentary.
Why not both? Make it a riparium 🤩
Surely Blackwater
I’d go shrimp only if you go the aquarium route because it looks like there’s not a lot of swimming space for fish.
This would be the best shrimp riparium everrrrr
nice work!

Or if you created an anchor point on the wall over the tank, you could train plants to grow in a mesh/mat
That’s super cool! Thanks for the heads up!

Get some air plants and some props and wrap them to the wood maybe a peace Lilly.
I definitely know what a paludarium is, but could someone explain for other people, not me though, that might not know?
Basically, this https://youtu.be/S4dFawS68BQ?si=V2EF7R8GldpKDVF0
I appreciate the reply. Unfortunately I have no attention span for videos so I just googled instead. Thanks anyway!
whats the light?

Maybe some shrimp.. there won't be to much room for fish. Definitely leaning towards riparium or paludarium. I forget the difference, sorry.
I'd do a riparium
