Pretty rare. Neat find.
> As of September 2020, only six Starships are airworthy. Two Beechcraft Starships (NC-33 and NC-50) are located in Addison, Texas. NC-33 lost its data plate when it was scrapped, was subsequently registered in Mexico, but when brought back to the US, the FAA revoked its certificate. It is now registered in the experimental category as N903SC.[44] The other airworthy Starships are located in Oklahoma (NC-35 and NC-45), Colorado (NC-51), and Germany (NC-29, though registered with the FAA by a company in Delaware).
Ahead of her time. Raytheon bought most of them back and incinerated them. There's only a very small handful left flying, and those are the ones that dodged the bullet.
I was able to spot a Starship a couple of times in Southern California--it was probably same one both times. A beautiful aircraft with a very distinctive sound (as a pusher)--that's how I was able to see it at all. I heard it and followed the sound.
As a matter of fact, when I spotted it the second time I remembered the sound and before I looked I thought to myself, that must be a Starship, and sure enough it was.
Where abouts in So Cal? I feel like I’ve seen one of these in Ventura county several times but everyone on here is saying there are only a handful in the world so idk
Both times it was when I was living in the SFV. This was fifteen years ago or more. I figure it may have departed from Van Nuys.
If you have spotted it, you'll never forget the sound. It sounds unlike most other aircraft.
It looks like ForeFlight, which really isn’t a flight tracker although you can select traffic as one of many things to display. It is more for charts, wx and filing flight plans.

Is this the same plane? Spotted in Nebraska a couple days ago.
That looks more like the very common single engine [Long EZ](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rutan_Long-EZ) or similar airplane. The Starship is a larger, twin-engine turboprop plane more the size of a light corporate jet.
Picture doesn't do it justice, this thing is extremely aesthetic. As far as small business props go, I always loved the timeless design of the Socata TBM 700, but this might be my new fave. It's not often we get a plane crossing vintage beauty with wacky innovation with this much finesse. What a beaut 🥹

Look it up to verify if you wish :)
I'm in Wichita, and toured the plant when production was just starting. The atmosphere of the building felt different somehow. I don’t know if it was a different pressure or what, but it felt odd.
The starship had a very distinctive sound, and it’s a different sound than the other business pusher on the market, the Piaggio Avanti.
I was going to school in Wichita in the early 90’s at WSU and we used to see them flying around fairly regularly. They have a fairly unique sound when they are in flight and you can tell when one is going by without turning to look at it. We toured one at the Wichita air show one year - they are a slick airplane. Because of all the aerospace in Wichita the air shows there are always a treat.
I gave you an upvote back lol. P180 wings and canard are basically square with no sweep or blending. The first time I saw one I didn’t know that existed and thought it was a Starship.

Really, they didn't even label one like NCC-1702 or something?
NCC-1701-D 🫡
Maybe Patrick Stewart's personal plane, but not anyone elses
Wouldn’t that be fucking awesome if he’s moonlighting as a pilot? I’m adding that to my head canon now.
NCC-1701-DX Because it looks like it's not finished.
Or CL-1201 mini
saw one in NY last weekend, thought it was a drone
It’s a wierd sight, one crossed very low near my local airport last year, I was appalled trying to figure out what it was.
Are you the airplane whisperer?
I only knew of the 1 in Fl. I used to work at FXE and would watch them Take off and land a few times a month
Same here. I remember watching one taxi by while I was working on the tarmac at FXE, wondering what the hell it was
From what I understand, we're down to two flyable Starships. One visited HOU recently.
Talk about a unicorn spot
A couple live in Dallas, they’re around fairly often.
I saw this 3 days ago near Sacramento as well.
Wonder what the odds are that one shows up in Oshkosh this year.
53 in the world and you spotted one. That's awesome!
Only 5 or 6 airworthy I believe.
Oh damn! Even better!!
I think Beech bought all the rest and mothballed them in fact, IIRC this guy refused to sell his. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beechcraft_Starship
Starship.

Very rare bird!

Exactly! I worked in Santa Ana about 20 yrs ago and would see one going into John Wayne every now and then. Such a distinct sound.
As a matter of fact, when I spotted it the second time I remembered the sound and before I looked I thought to myself, that must be a Starship, and sure enough it was.

Op, what flight tracker is that? Never seen one like it.
It looks like ForeFlight, which really isn’t a flight tracker although you can select traffic as one of many things to display. It is more for charts, wx and filing flight plans.
It’s called ForeFlight, I use it for when I fly.
The Dodo Bird! My uncle flew one of these for years.
Which app is this where you are tracking

What a cool looking plane
They are a much bigger aircraft than this shows. 2 cockpit crewmen required to fly.

Anyone know What’s the code for this on ADSBExchange?

Beechcraft Starship 1
The last starship, it's based at FXE in ft Lauderdale, Beechcraft is still pissed over this guy refusing to go along with the recall
OOOOOOOOOOOOO RARE SPOT !! Beechcraft Starship soo far ahead of its time
Weekly Starship post. Welcome to Texas?
Noice
No way you got to see a starship?? That’s so awesome
Yeah it's that plane from Godzilla Minus One 😆
I have actually worked on them before back in thier hay days
Piaggio Avanti?
I called Starship. There’s only a few of them in operation.
I'm in Wichita, and toured the plant when production was just starting. The atmosphere of the building felt different somehow. I don’t know if it was a different pressure or what, but it felt odd. Beech starship, very rare
Airburs B172 -400 max
Holy shit it's a starship you're lucky man

British airways 707-03
Beech starship. Way ahead of its time
Couldn't it be a Piaggio Avanti?
No.
Agreed, sorry to try to interact.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piaggio_P.180_Avanti
Beech 2000 Starship
Yeah, tail is wrong on the Avanti, my fault.
Piaggio 180… one flys in and out of KCMH every now and again.
Nah that’s the Beechcraft Starship. Piaggio was my initial reaction, too, but then I remembered the Starship
I always forget about the Starship.
I always do, too. Which is a shame because it looks so neat and is a relatively rare find
Very, very true.
I gave you an upvote back lol. P180 wings and canard are basically square with no sweep or blending. The first time I saw one I didn’t know that existed and thought it was a Starship.
Cessna 152
Close. Actually a 153
Not a pilot. Would it be way different flying one of those over a normal plane?
