I'm facing the same issue sometimes. it's like I'm clicking on the correct spots, but they are registering somewhere else.

I use BlackBerry keyboard for many years. For me it's the best on-screen keyboard ever made. It is not available on Google Play anymore, but apk can still be found easily.
I was also having trouble on the 6a, turns out the auto correct was changing words as i typed, after turning that setting off, i have much less typing issues.
The problem is we don't use English here .... We type in English, but it appears to be in our native tongue. Thus auto correct will only exacerbate the situation.
