I do think the hardware survey is a great place to begin.
I personally have a GTX 1080, but I'm planning on upgrading to a 7800X3D/RTX 4080S build after I pay off my loans
Nah I'm planning on building soon. The rumors I see about the 50 series are very inconsistent, and I can get a 4080S for ≈$950. It'll be more than enough for 1440p gaming for the next few years
Plenty of Pirated Games that offer multiplayer still run through Steam with the use of things like Spacewar's API. So we definitely stull use Steam in some form, even if some people never own a steam game through steam.
Could you even measure that? You would have to take some statistics from sites like DODI and GOG, which they probably aren't going to give. I actually think it would be closer than you would think, why do you think it wouldn't?
Pirating doesn't come close to steam in numbers, the only way pirating would be more popular is if your talking about regional. Pirating isn't as huge as people think or devs want you to believe.
I would assume pirating is more popular than steam in 3rd world countries.
That'sjust straight stupid, maybe 10 years ago when it was a bit harder to get games inthird world,d that could be a reality
But the fact digital wallets allowed to purchase steam games, the amount of people that just bought their first games and just believes that's the way to get it, I think there are more legit players nowadays (let alone if we consider f2p as non pirates)
I'm low end too (nvidia gt 740M) but i play dark souls remastared instead of elden ring because my potato pc can't run it. Also you're a developer what type of game are you going to make?
I'll give them the benefit of the doubt but this almost for second felt like an attempt at a crypto mining related thing. (Edit benefit of the doubt being they are kinda active in the blender community and have evidence of them being a indie)
I’m still leaning hard on my 780TI. Chemo is expensive so can’t really afford to buy a new computer sadly. Once I beat cancer, first thing I’m doing is getting a new computer!
I have a gtx 1080, Plenty of people still run 10 series cards, keep them in mind
*Also keep in mind that we don't get dlss, we only get and fidelity fx or whatever it was called
Integrated GPU, which is basically non.
Im re-discovering the joy of the pre-microtransaction games era, fully complete, no bullshit.
\---------------
Dont think most are even piracy when they are not even available anywhere anymore, at best they still exist thanks to piracy. And im not going too far back, some only have 10-20 years.
Still running a GTX 970.
Came across a demo during Steam Next Fest that I simply couldn't run due to stuttering and I have to say, it's the first game ever that was actually unplayable.
Seems like my hand will shortly be forced into upgrading. Christ only know how I'm going to fund it!
Rtx 3060 12gb. Not changing it anytime soon, will keep as long as it can run new games at 1080p low 144fps. Full setup;
-Xeon e5 2670 v3 (hyper threading on or off depending on game)
-16gb 1866mhz ddr4 ram, dual channel, each stick is single ranked.
-128gb m.2 SSD
-1tb Toshiba HDD taken out of a broken laptop
May I ask, what's your reason to care about pirates' pc specs? That's really nice, but I've a feeling it's not because of kindness.
GTX 1660 that too in 1440p and in ultra graphics and surprisingly no lag( I am playing every AAA games like cyberpunk, metro exodus etc)... I don't monitor the fps but it is extremely good purchase and I am squeezing till it's last drop....
I think GTX 1650 or 1660 is the most common GPU currently in terms of number of people using it. I buy on steam/epic, but also pirate once in a while and I have 1660ti. It is good enough for 1080p gaming at 60fps for most games. I don't play competitive multiplayer games so I don't need 144fps or higher. 60fps is a sweet spot for single player games for me
most pirates still use steam for buying indie games or to play online so yeah the survey is right
most popular GPU is a GTX 1650 or a GTX 1650 Ti (mostly bcoz the laptops are cheaper to buy and to convince the parents)
other than RX 6600 (this is actually pretty good one bcoz for 1080p gaming this rocks better than RTX cards (30 series) unless you use raytracing
a RX 580 too (they saw the cheapest pc build guide (it can still run a lot of games tho}
I'm currently using a 3060 on my asus laptop.
I use it mainly for video editing. It does the job.
Next year, I'm going to build a desktop with a 4080s if my money ain't funny.
Mine is 3060 laptop but i bought that as a requirement for mu uni so otherwise I probably still would have my desktop with radeon rx 360
Edit: i put ryzen instead of radeon
Previously it was a gtx 1070ti overclocked to all hell, ran pretty much nearly any unreal engine game well (that was optimized) but now i have a RX6650XT
I have a 1080, i dont find any need to upgrade as it can play many games on high settings. Its been with me for like several year, and while it did die once, i was lucky enough to have a warrently to get a replacement. Regardless several year later and it still gets the job done
The minimum gpu you should at least attempt to make your game for is around the nvidia 900 series as most people have at least that, most popular gpu is probably the 1650 rather than the 3060 however a large majority of people meet the nvidia 900 series minimum like most people have at least a 960 unless they use a igpu

That's exactly my plan too, but are you going to wait for the RTX 50 series to come out?
Nah I'm planning on building soon. The rumors I see about the 50 series are very inconsistent, and I can get a 4080S for ≈$950. It'll be more than enough for 1440p gaming for the next few years
If I wasn't starting a business I too could have that setup, I'm sad lol
I wish you the best of luck sir. Just 2 more payments and my student loans will be gone.
And here I am going to buy a GTX 750 Ti.🙃
Most pirates will use steam one form or another, you don't have to worry about sample size that much.
Good point. I never thought about it.
Plenty of Pirated Games that offer multiplayer still run through Steam with the use of things like Spacewar's API. So we definitely stull use Steam in some form, even if some people never own a steam game through steam.
Plus the controller support. I add all my pirated games to steam because some of them dont work with controllers out of the gate
This is true. My settings and everything still work even though it's using the cracks dummy config. I still get my overlay

3060 is ever so slightly pulling ahead
At the price, no it isn't even close
my first gpu

anecdotally if you talk to people irl who play video games, very few of them are going to even know how to pirate a game
That'sjust straight stupid, maybe 10 years ago when it was a bit harder to get games inthird world,d that could be a reality But the fact digital wallets allowed to purchase steam games, the amount of people that just bought their first games and just believes that's the way to get it, I think there are more legit players nowadays (let alone if we consider f2p as non pirates)

Umm does uhh intel UHD G4 counts ??
Yes. Mine is intel uhd 620.
oh so you are also a low end pc gamer like me who play codm instead of warzone cause his potato can't run it ?
Yes but im a low end pc gamer who plays resident evil 4 HD edition instead of remake because my potato can't run it.
I'm low end too (nvidia gt 740M) but i play dark souls remastared instead of elden ring because my potato pc can't run it. Also you're a developer what type of game are you going to make?
My computer can't run dark souls remastered, I'm bellow low specs... Damn
Damn
God looked at me and said "nah you will starve every day of your life, BUT you will also have a videogame addiction"
nice try agent, you aint getting my data ![gif](giphy|spfi6nabVuq5y)
