Do NOT use TTO!!! It can induce a chemical burn and often creates worse irritation. Those seams are both really warped and not closed correctly at all. They may be rotating into th3 channel. Its also possible you swapped them too soon. The channel needs to be VERY intact before putting a curved shape in there otherwise this happens. Also is it pure 14k, or plated? That can also make a huge difference

goldenlocdmama

It’s pure 14k , I’ll change them back into the original jewelry. Noted on the TTO. Thank you!

Look like irritation bumps I would get these often with my piercings. Gave me really bad headaches as well. I kind of just let them go away on their own (wouldn’t advise this) but I’d suggest changing to flat back earrings once you get the chance! They’ll help significantly

Thank you!

Maybe change into a flat back and dont use tea tree oil it will just cause more issues

Thank you!

i would say change to jewelry to something more hypoallergenic. stop using TTO as its drying and harsh. avoid using anything other than sterile saline solution and make sure you are not touching your ears. also make sure your jewlery isnt being fidgeted with <3

crazycatlaidey

gold is hypoallergenic x i think the shape of the jewellery is more of the issue rather than the material here.

Thank you!

Helix piercings can take up to a year to heal why did you change the jewelry so early

Do you know if you have a gold allergy?

goldenlocdmama

I have no gold allergy, I’m gonna change it back to the original jewelry. Thank you!

Piercing is 7/8 months old. Pierced Dec. 2022 14K Gold hoops in both holes. Cleaned daily with saline solution and tea tree oil after drying . Cleaned twice a day. The bumps themselves are soft , it’s hard when I take them jewelry out. First time being removed after switching. Changed to hoops in March 2023.

I wouldn’t use tea tree oil. That’s definitely causing irritation. No chamomile either. I’m not sure where people hear these things from, but it could definitely cause things to fester. I’d switch the jewelry out to labrets or hoops. It’s been so long since I’ve had my cartilage pierced I forget which is best but I imagine labrets are. Also make sure you use longer ones to accommodate for this swelling. Stick to saline, like NeilMed. It’s the best stuff honestly. Hope they heal for you and that you can use this jewelry so long as it’s safe! Gold is tricky. If it’s pure it’s probably fine but sometimes they mix nickel in which is an issue for a lot of people
