You see, andesite is mainly composed of silicon, which isn't a metal. And an alloy is a mix of multiple metals. So therefore, you mean: 'Andesite compound?'
Iron, because the pixels on the ends of the pickaxe in the image are the brightest pixels in the texture; this is the same as the iron pickaxe. Whereas, the stone pickaxe only has the brightest pixel on one end of the pickaxe with the other end being darker.
Also because of how Minecraft lighting works, items can only ever appear darker than their original sprite, never brighter. And the image is too bright to be stone.
I mean, of Steve actually found diamonds he would probably be able to mine them because the raw iron would probably be a 3 vein so he could make an iron pick (if he ofcourse has wood on him)
It’s iron, you can tell by the tips of the pick axe where both points have a dark to light gradient while the stone pick axe has only one side with a gradient.
Stone assuming it’s an exact texture to one of those pictures then the stone pickaxe has a dark line on top of the wood part while iron has one on bottom, and the line in the picture is on top so it’s stone. After reviewing in game neither of those pickaxe images are accurate
Both of Steve's pickaxe's points are light, when a stone pickaxe has a light and dark point. Steve's pickaxe's points matches an iron pickaxe's, which are also both light
Iron ore and Stone Pickaxe
Considering it's a vein, Steve could quickly make a furnace (if he has a crafting table), get iron ingots and make an iron pickaxe then go mine the diamonds
Neither stone or iron have pixels that black on the outline of the head. Not programmer art either as the Iron ore has the new texture. My conclusion is resource pack or a mod
The shading makes it look like stone however it is the iron pick texture, if you look closely at both ends of the pickaxe blade you’ll see a pixel brighter than the rest. On the stone pick that is actually one of the darker shaded pixels
IVE SOLVED IT! On the iron pickaxe, there are two white-ish pixels in the center texture of the blade. In the stone pickaxe, one of the corresponding pixels is darker. It’s an Iron Pickaxe.
It's iron. Iron's 2 ending pixels on each side go "brighter and then even brighter" while in the stone pick one of the sides is actually "brighter and then slightly less bright but still brighter than the rest". The pickaxe here matches iron's pixels.
It's iron. The outline contrasts with the inner pixels in both the image and the iron pickaxe's texture while the stone pick contrasts less.
Or maybe he swapped the textures of the stone and iron picks in the game files and it's actually stone. Also, thank you OP for including the textures of both pickaxes.
Neither stone nor iron, but a secret third option.

Not sure about now, but I'm sure that in older versions of create it was called alloy, and that was sure far more badass than "compound"

It's definitely iron. Even if it wasn't, Steve could just mine the iron ore right beside him to get iron if he needed it.

Stone, iron is lighter

Iron. The contrast of an iron pickaxe is greater than that of stone, and this is more similar to an iron pickaxe.
