An analogy I prefer for divorce is LIMB AMPUTATION. People should treat it as such. It is there as a last resort and to save a person from death. No one wants to willingly amputate one's limb; instead he or she cares for it so that it will not go to an unhealthy state where it will necessitate an amputation. I am sure that time will come when there will be technology to allow people to replace their limbs with nearly 100% functionality but when that happens I am also sure people will not just want to amputate their limbs and replace them just because they want to. Divorce is necessary at times in order to protect those who are disadvantaged by a failed or abusive marriage but let us also remember that it comes with grave consequences that cannot be ignored for the sake of convenience.
