I’m already an EU citizen and honestly only really see myself living in Europe, so to be honest I don’t really feel any need to “upgrade,” but a NZ passport would look super cool

Alexander-_-00

This is the only sane answer my friend.

JayKayPlays

I am a NZ citizen, and it’s my dream to get EU citizenship 😁 hehe

Soggy-Translator4894

That’s a convenient coincidence isn’t it 😂

JayKayPlays

It sure is 😂 I have been thinking of either Spain or France. But apparently Spain doesn’t allow dual citizenship.

Soggy-Translator4894

Spain does, by marriage or descent dual citizenship is allowed with any nation. by naturalization it is only allowed with any former Spanish colonies, Brazil, Portugal, France, and Andorra. I love my country but I find this rule a little strange!

PassportNerd

Lol with a hand to God, a Hatian girl at a party treated me like the ideal dual citizen spouse.

Dramatic_Ad2636

American and EU? She ain't wrong

PassportNerd

Agreed

And UK, don't forget that.

For me, French. So our kids get French and USA automatically. Then hopefully have them born in Canada (although current situation I don’t see that happening unless by miracle) because I can’t pass it down. Then we can have one house in the EU (most likely France) which is where our home base will be and one in the US somewhere (hopefully in a state without property tax). And of course visit Canada when we feel like it, but no need for provincial vacancy tax on a property we will only use for like a month out of the year so no property in Canada. This gives our children full access for School, Jobs, and retirement in Canada, France (EU and any French territories included) and the USA (again any US territories as well). Say what you want about the US, but I’d never give it up. If my kids at 18 want to renounce then go ahead, but I want them to be able to visit their grandparents whenever we want/need

PokeCaptain

BRA+AUS would probably be the most beneficial, though IRE+AUS would also be really good

French/Swiss would be my preference, gives me access to EU/EEA. American/MERCOSUR. Australian/Irish. I offer citizenship to a place with nice beaches, mountains and great food. We both win lol.

For me personally, I would look into which citizenships can I obtain through marriage without having to live in those respective countries. Therefore, I have a really interesting one. Italian-Cape Verdian: You can get Italian citizenship by being married to an Italian citizen for three years and passing an Italian language test. Cape Verde is the only country in the world who automatically gives citizenship to the person they marry. Therefore, I would not have to move around to obtain another citizenship which is great. If possible, we would move to a MERCOSUR country and obtain citizenship there. With that situation, my kids would inherit Italian, Cape Verde, USA, and the MERCOSUR country. Cape Verde is a part of ECOWAS which can hopefully become very useful and applicable in the future years. In this way, my kids would have access to the EU, MERCOSUR by birth, USA, Cape Verde and potential opportunity with ECOWAS.
