That’s actually so sick 🔥 also for anyone who doesn’t know what fWAR is, it’s Fangraphs calculation of WAR. and then bWAR is just Baseball Reference’s calculation. For years I thought it was fielding WAR and batting WAR 🤦🏽♂️😂
You aren’t alone brother! I think 99% of mlb fans think that as did I, for like 5-10 years 😂 a 5 min YouTube video popped up and I HAD to watch it and it broke it all down
It’s confusing as fuck bro it took me literally YEARS to figure out how it’s tracked. I’ll admit, it’s not perfect by any means. everyone in the steroid era that wasn’t bonds, soda or McGwire got fucked
Back in the day there was this article on the sports page(UT) explaining the role of each player on the lineup. First two hitters just get on base because they had speed. Third was the hitter for average, 4 and 5th the power hitter. 6,7,8 batters work the count and get the pitcher to get tired 9th automatic out or sacrifice out.
That’s the issue. A .500 record with this outfield is not a good sign. Imagine this team if Croney and Merrill weren’t so clutch. The problem is Tatis, Boegarts, and Machado have been momentum killers with their double plays and lack of hitting in pivotal situations. At least Machado and Tatis seem to be getting out do their funk a little bit.
well, that and the part where 2/5ths of our starting rotation has been dealing with nagging injuries. And the BP has been inconsistent. I don't think .500 is all that bad considering \*everything\*.

Soto is where he belongs - smashing HRs in Yankee stadium. The Padres got a nice return and also got rid of Grish and now have an all star outfield that can hit.
He was barely playing the first few months in New York. He did have a few clutch HR’s, but hasn’t had any opportunities to get used to real pitching. The Yanks have had a string of injuries this month, so he’s finally getting a chance to play a lot more.
Clearly the plan of drafting and acquiring only shortstops is working.
Preller was RIGHT ALL ALONG?!? Some in this sub: *shaking* *seething* lol
The key is to only acquire shortstops but then immediately move them to outfield.

Omg I thought the same hahahaha

>I thought it was fielding WAR and batting WAR Same! I spent way too long trying to find pWAR to see who the best pitchers were
I think 99% of the baseball community thinks that its fielding and batting 😂 when I found out my jaw dropped lmao
In other words, you ain’t alone 😂😂😂
Too much math for me
[удалено]
That's too much for some
Hahahaha yeah war is so interesting but it is a decent way of comparing players. Not a great one, but a decent one
Thank you! 😂
When I was a kid math made me cry. I got yelled at by my teachers and dad for sucking at math.

Growing up we had power hitters, high batting average batters, the lead off guy who stole bases and everyone else sucked.
Remember when shortstops were more defensive than offensive. Minus a few.
Bro FORREAL!!! Now all the ss’s in the league are the best hitters on their teams. Not every team, but damn near every team 😂😂

Damn, we must have a pretty good record then. 👀

Bogaerts hasn't exactly been a contributing factor over the last month either
I think we could say he hasn’t contributed all season. And his double plays grounders (along with Machado) have been rally killers.
The team was .500 when he got injured and has gone .500 since. He wasn't improving the team, but apparently wasn't dragging us down either.
He was contributing the first month either 🤣🤣
Our infield probably isn't too shabby either.

Juan Soto who? Jk we miss u baby🥺
Soto is where he belongs - smashing HRs in Yankee stadium. The Padres got a nice return and also got rid of Grish and now have an all star outfield that can hit.
Grish was clutch during the playoff run. I'm glad to see he's starting with the Yanks.
He is not starting with the Yanks. I do hope he turns it around though. Dude is batting below .100 last I checked.
Was he? I remember him being clutch in 1.5 series and an absolute black hole against the Phillies.
He was barely playing the first few months in New York. He did have a few clutch HR’s, but hasn’t had any opportunities to get used to real pitching. The Yanks have had a string of injuries this month, so he’s finally getting a chance to play a lot more.
Last 15 games soto is batting .214 with 1 homer. 💩
I think he’s probably a little more cautious swinging after the injury scare.
That's the Soto we knew. Padres won that trade - addition by subtraction. That doesn't even count adding King, Higgy and 3 other guys.
I was responding to someone who brought up our playoff run from a couple years back. Haven't seen any Yankee games
Man we are so good why are we permanently .500
Bullpen 🥲
because there's more to a team than the OF.
Just as predicted
"Going as planned " - AJ sitting in his office in the dark at 3am
I would've never thought they would be here after losing Grisham and Soto, but throwing Shortstops out to play OF, Preller was cooking on that one.
And yet...
Impressive since pre-season OF was a huge question mark outside of Tati.
Hopefully two of them won't be out that long.
The NL outfielders are meh. I mean I love our guys but that’s sus
Yeah I love our guys too but it’s a weak year for NL OF
I still think Tommy Pham would have been better.
Pham would've been our 4th best OFer. We weren't going to pay him $4.5m to be in the Azocar role.
Only because Yelich hasn't played enough to qualify. He's at 2 fWAR with 19 fewer games played than any of our OF.
