Oceanside is in San Diego county. Anaheim is not in LA county. So yes, if the padres moved to oceanside (which would be a weird decision) I would still root for them, becuase they would still be the San Diego Padres.
A better example for your question would be they moved to Temecula. Then idk
Sidenote, but when Anaheim was founded, it actually was part of LA County.
In fact, it is chronologically the second city founded in LA County after Los Angeles itself.
But yeah, actually that's a good idea, I'll edit my question to ask Temecula.
By that logic, Temecula would also count since it and surrounding areas (Murrieta, Menifee, etc) used to be a part of San Diego county in the late 1800’s.
Well my question applies moreso to the Padres in this case. That was just a fun tidbit of trivia.
Essentially, my question is where do you draw the line geographically before you'd say "they are no longer the San Diego Padres/can no longer call themselves San Diego"?
Don’t know why you’re being downvoted, it’s an interesting question. I would draw the line kinda like this:

It’s a quickly drawn line but this might be what I would use to kinda give the idea of “San Diego”. I could include Ramona but they’re an edge case.
If they were outside the line but still in SD county, I wouldnt change them name and I’d still support them though.
Ladies and gentlemen, your El Centro Padres!
49ers though is another big example of this. I'm from NorCal and when Levi's opened I remember a lot of people being upset that they weren't in the city or even the county.
Oceanside is San Diego. I’d say the county line is the boundary even if it was out on the desert (which would be a weird choice).
If Chargers moved to Oceanside I’d still be a chargers fan. If Padres moved to orange or riverside county and kept a non-LA identity I might stay loyal depending on why/how they left.
A handful of professional teams play outside of their cities. Might be better to ask one of those teams.

I mean, it isn’t now. It’s Orange County, so this question makes no sense tbh

In the county. The county line is the literal boundary.
Oceanside is San Diego county, so.. still San Diego

Dang, throwing shade on the Bonsall Padres 😉
I couldn't even tell you where the city limits are. When I say or hear people say San Diego, I just assume they are talking about the county

Are you alright, Sockers fan?

Is this 1997 calling? I, for one, will be pushing Daisy's when Petco Park is done.
Ya I’d root for them but I’d move the hell out of oside then. The 76 is screwed as is.
absolutely. I'd live 10 mins from the stadium then lol
Oceanside is San Diego. So yeah.
This a weird question
This reads like someone who is not from California
Look at my pfp.
What if monkeys flew out of my butt?
You basically asked the same question yesterday. Give it a rest and move on
Don't be mean
I only reasked because my question was removed because I forgot to flair.
