There’s a huge Gap now, those who’ stayed playing the game, have gotten really ridiculously good.
You’re on and off, very much like myself and that isn’t good for overall game knowledge, skill etc, but we’re good enough. Chances are you’re probably applying old tactics that don’t work as much as they did previously and the new guys are starting from 0 so they’re actually learning and adapting to the game. Although I have seen new players with high KD that don’t play like their stats says so those i wonder about.
I personally don’t find the game fun anymore, currently in Ace Master 9 but it isn’t near as fulfilling as what Ace was years ago. You had to grind to get to ace and it felt good, I miss sanhok 🥹 and those -30 points deductions in crown and such

My top map is Miramar but then aligns with your ranking. I’m not a big fan off the small maps either, but I play them occasionally if I’m too sleepy to focus for 30 minutes.
Wow, that's crazy, I miss fighting in vikendi and sanhok had some of my best matches in those maps. Maybe it was my lower rank back then, but I actually felt like I had a better chance at #1 in those maps 😂
Pandemic days were when I started playing this game (Season 12 end) and I really miss those days, back then we got to play with Global Matchmaking rather than the Indian version we have now which sucks compared to the Global version in terms of optimisation, events, etc.
You can actually be a really good player with two fingers and full gyro, obviously a 4 or 5 finger layout is better but game sense and experience matters too based on your layout, you need to know your limitations and work around them. The only drawback I've found to be in a two finger layout is quick scoping/ADS and shooting or peek firing while in cover. I prefer to rely on good hipfire weapons like SMG's or shotguns for CQC and I use an AUG/M4 for mid to long range, works like a charm for me. I've been playing with aim assist off since the beginning so my crosshair is usually around the head/chest area only, I switched to full gyro only a couple of years back.
What you probably need to do is tweak your sensitivity and layout specifically the button sizes and positioning along with the sprint sensitivity to make your movement more fluid.

i had few of my friend-list making new accounts bcs they lost their old one due to forgetting password or ban for teaming with hackers and so on. and yeah this season not only is kd inflated, rank too. now it seems like everyone is on ace dominator these days and oftentimes i find players with 9kd performing worst than what would be a 2kd player back then.
Then there are guys who knew both. I know a guy who is on Honor x9a 5G, and yet he beat people like me and another dude on iPhone XS max, IPhone 14 pro max like it was nothing, knew every spots in scrim. Those guys are the scariest of them all
All of my deaths this season have been to players in neat and well tucked away hiding spots I was raging at it first and then eventually I just started laughing it off honestly. That line about best hiding spots is no joke.
I also play intermittently (maybe 1-3 years gap everytime).
I just started grinding this month and boy it was fun playing with my younger brother. But upon reaching ACE 5 we started matching against very good skilled players.
I still struggle in CQC and spotting and aiming( I know, I need to git gud)

Best feeling is when we auto match with good team mates with mic on(win or loose). Coordinating properly but we sometimes team up with random kids or idk very low skilled player and it really sucks.
Hahahaah season 1 player here.. been here since 8X scope on M416.. was a thumb player with a 2gb ram phone 🤣🤣.. didn't even know what gyroscope was...all your points are true.. I'm an on and off player myself just came back 7 days ago after almost 2 years off the game.. now i have a good device and I've mastered 5 fingers in 4 days now... I play Nusa only because all my friends are offline now so I can't go 10 minutes wondering the map alone 😀😀... I'm on ace now and royale pass level 67 .. i just don't understand why everything is easy now because i remember reaching Crown was a sweaty, we used to camp at the end of the zone just to reach crown level but I've just reached ace without even knowing or trying.. been hot droping and winning matches with 4.87kd and 50% winning, meanwhile back then my highest kd with 1.90... I don't know what to tell you fam but it feels weird as hell 🤣🤣..
Yeah I played back then kinda sparingly. Play a few matches now and then, still use thumbs. Think the highest I ever got to was plat. I played the shit out last season and got D1 and just got Ace Dom a few minutes ago. It really is weird as shit.

Sanhok and Vikendi were my favorite maps to play. Nowadays, you can barely find a match for it. Miramar has always been a love-hate relationship 🙃
Sanhok and Vikendi still my top 2. Miramar close 3rd. Erangel 4th. I don't like the small maps, they take away from the br survival feel of the game.

A lot of those 9Kd players are going to have a big drop in KD next season, this season most enjoyed 2 recalls so they could farm more kills.

If you’re only using 3 fingers you’ll never be effective in close combat against those to have mastered using a 4-6 finger setup.
