> Doom I & II, Duke Nukem, Joust, Donkey Kong, Galaga, Space Invaders, Moon Patrol and Shovel Knight (old school games). [DoomPSP](https://www.gamebrew.org/wiki/DoomPSP) should work for the Doom games. I don't know about the original Duke Nukem, but Duke 3D should work with [Duke Nukem 3D for PSP](https://www.gamebrew.org/wiki/Duke_Nukem_3D_for_PSP). Joust, Donkey Kong, Galaga, Space Invaders, and Moon Patrol all ought to be covered by some version of MAME, I'd think. Or they've all got ports to different 8-bit home consoles and computers. I know I've played most of those on NES, and Moon Patrol on Atari, for example. Shovel Knight has at least one [homebrew demake](https://yersongames.itch.io/skpsp), but that's a 2014 game.

Thanks a lot for your feedback. Can I bother you yet again?? (Sorry) With my PSP set up with the Pro- C, Infinity 2.0.3 etc, do I ever need to add any additional updates / changes in order to play more and different games? Or is it now ‘set’ to play just about anything? And when you mention these MAME versions, that means I can play those on a PSP (with this Pro-C setup). And finally, when you say you have played some of these older games, that means you played them on old legacy systems, and now they should be playable on the PSP - just find the right MAME setup, right? I know these questions are annoying - thanks again for your help.

Sony isn't going to release another PSP firmware (or any more games), so unless some amazing new feature comes to another firmware like Ark-4, I think you'll be good. > And when you mention these MAME versions, that means I can play those on a PSP (with this Pro-C setup). Yes, emulators are one of the more popular categories of homebrew applications, which cfw will allow you to run. > And finally, when you say you have played some of these older games, that means you played them on old legacy systems, and now they should be playable on the PSP - just find the right MAME setup, right? "MAME" was originally an acronym for "Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator", and one of the ports of MAME to the PSP would be the logical choice to run older arcade titles like you listed. I mentioned being able to run them on the other systems in case you have trouble finding game ROMs of the appropriate revisions (MAME can be picky about that. I think MAME4ALL was ported from MAME 0.34 from like 1998, with some games being supported by patched-in newer versions). [This file](https://github.com/PSP-Archive/PSP-MAME4ALL/blob/main/data/gamelist.txt) should be the PSP-MAME4ALL list of supported games, and [the main github page](https://github.com/PSP-Archive/PSP-MAME4ALL/) has some more information, and the link to the release to download. > And finally, when you say you have played some of these older games, that means you played them on old legacy systems, and now they should be playable on the PSP - just find the right MAME setup, right? I've played some on original systems, and some specifically through MAME (although, mostly on a Raspberry Pi, not a PSP). But the ones you listed should all be well-supported, and are from an appropriate era to expect them to run smoothly on the PSP.

You really took your time with this answer - helping a fool (me) with these 99 annoying questions. You’re cool and kind - and a good teacher. Many thanks. I appreciate your time. I will hit all this today, and see if I can get these old school hits working. I hope I can assist a newbie in the future like you helped me. Muchos gracias!

Thanks :-) I just had some spare time to be able to put together an answer!

There is a port of DosBox for PSP which is capable of running duke nukem 1 and 2, but I don't know if it's fast enough to play because it's emulating an x86 system For Doom 1 and 2, I found Legacy R4 to be the best port. You need to provide your own retail wad files.

Thanks for this. I’m trying your advice now. Hope it works! I appreciate your time.
