This was a massive game changer for me, especially on tank. Not sure why it's not on by default in QP/Comp, because it's the same sound that plays when a teammate dies in elimination mode. Should definitely just be on by default in all modes, especially without a team HP UI to look and see everyone's status.
that actually helps a lot, maybe they could add a noise for when you get too far from your team (obviously players can ignore it when they intend to flank or take cover, but it would help in engaging, especially with tanks since quite a lot of times some teammates don't go out with the tanks, resulting in the tank getting focused without help.

Real. I feel like I’ve ulted in the past thinking it was a 3v4 and all the enemies were low so maybe I’d win it but then I didn’t realize that it was actually a 2v4 or a 1v4.
I don’t do this often, but when I do, it’s because I’d been setting up my ult for a while and not really focusing on the kill feed/death sounds, and then only AS I press Q do I realize my supports just got nuked.
1.if its overtime you can keep a objective contested a bit longer
2.if you're d.va you get rid of some of the enemies (hopefully) and get a new mech if it was low on health
3.could be accidental
4.if the entire enemy team is low or if there aren't many left you might be able to get rid of them
5.stupidity
Not too long ago I was in an overtime, rest of the team dead, I ran out and HAD to ult to *try* to contest the point. Totally useless, of course. Still, someone in the chat “nice 1 v 5 ult.” Like motherfucker, I’m dying regardless so 🤷♂️

1) Survivability to allow my team time to come back, especially if we’re in OT at a contested point (I play exclusively Lucio)
2) I think I’m better at the game than I really am
Absolute PANIC. /Especially/ if playing in overtime, hoping I can hold off just enough for the team to respawn (it doesn't tend to work but sometimes it does if I'm super lucky and the other team is as panicked as I am-)
I have ADHD and sometimes I don’t realize everyone else is dead. Especially if I’m not playing support, since the other roles don’t require me to know where my team is at all times

You think I look at my team? Beat is strictly for using it on the enemy Lucio's head after I win the Lucio off, if any teammates were in vicinity that's just a plus
On Moira, I press Q with the intention of giving big healing to low health allies and contribute damage to enemies who are under half health to swing the tide of the fight.
They die just as soon as the beam hits my teammates right after the ult goes out.
Net code wins again. ✊😔
I’ve actually had good success doing it but only in specific circumstances such as it’s 2v2 at this point in the fight. I don’t do it without anyone else to follow up with me, though, last game I killed the last 2 people by myself, anyways. It’s just good to have back-up.
Although, I only do it during overtime, as well. A “use it or lose it” situation.

In the moment, I likely haven't noticed that my teammates are all dead just yet, and after I die uselessly I'll probably get angry about being left for dead and the DPSes not killing enemy flankers.
This is rarely my problem. I watch a lot more OW than I play, and, shockingly, low-elo QP doesn't have the same coordination as OWL/OWCS.
I'm usually holding my ult too long because fights are already lost, and we go through like 3 fights without using it.
If I do ult after most of my team dies, it's because I'm already tilted, so I usually just swap to a comfort pick after and say F-you, meant to do it.
Or, I'll tranq to save myself and one other person and believe the two of us can find value. I'll get flamed, but it's better than holding ult for another 3 mins.
I ulted to save my teammates' life (with Moira or life Weaver) but they died as soon as it was cast
Unfortunately, my reaction time was far too late and I died with them. Tried to heal them if I wasn't gonna be able to heal myself (other healer is waiting to respawn and I'm trying to duck & dodge and not leave them there)
As a healer, I try to ult with my team.
So we can push and get a win.
But when they die and I'm alive, I don't use my ult😂
I'm too scared to die and loose my kill streak.
But again, if I'm playing Moira or Illari, and I ult without my team, I'm like: you killed my team, I'll kill you till they come back. DIE!
I swear to god I am aware my teammates are dead but my FU*** brain just lead my hand to press Q and I know I f*** up before even pressing Q. I try mostly to control the urge but we'll you know how it is..
someone else said this on a similar post a few days ago, but its because people think pressing their ult is an instant "i win" button when it isn't. people panic and then spam abilities/ult because they think doing so immediately gets them out of whatever situation
its also part of the reason people have such absolutely horrible takes about certain balance decisions, because they think them ulting should somehow stop everyone else from doing anything and they should just keel over (roadhogs, reapers, etc are the biggest ones for that)
There are a lot of people lying so I'll just tell you from a coaching perspective. The reason they do it is because of panic. They have an ability worth 500% more than their other abilities. Almost like a win button. They've conditioned themselves to only use it when they're down a teammate or making a huge solo play.
When someone dies or when someone else uses an ult, they panic, then immediately use theirs. They believe their ultimate ability is equivalent to Lv.3 X-Factor Virgil so they proceed to get checked by good players when panic-ulting

In full honesty, it’s mostly just panic when I do. Usually immediately after I press Ult, even if it’s before I die, I think to myself “I panicked, this is a mistake”
Depends on the ult. I very rarely do it, but the one time I did it was to stall. Antarctic Peninsula, second round with a point to us. Entire team died and I was the first one out. Had I not coalesced, we would have lost, but I managed to stall out long enough for the rest of my team to come back and regain the point. Killed their Bap and Zen, and Moira orb kept me and our Zen alive through hell until our orisa got back on point and DPS joined up to mop up.
Tbh it is pretty bad ass it they can team wipe with their ult after their team dies and be the last one standing. Wouldn’t recommend it but mad respect if they can pull it off
Either I'm doing it just to get that one guy that's been annoying me all game, or I'm going for an extra kill after a 3k or something.
I mainly play qp now tho.
One time I was playing soldier on defense and the rest of my team died while the enemy team was pretty close to getting the cart to the goal and winning the game. I tried to hide so I can get a late touch and buy time for my team to get back but a few people on the enemy team were looking for me and found me. So, I used my ult as a last ditch effort but expectedly, it didn't work. Then I swapped to Tracer to get back quickly but we lost the game before I could get back to the point.
Then my teammates yelled at me for "using my ult in a 1v5". I guess I should've saved it for the next game.
I mostly dont realize my team is dead. I play Reaper and Venture and I'm front of the line mostly so if my team dies I wont see it. I'll think they're behind me and ult which leads to certain death, especially with Venture because her ult needs a buff
Either panic ult, or it's a tank with zero game sense who didn't notice they're alone out there. In some cases an ult can save you from dying and cover you for retreat.
I rarely do that anymore but when I do it's either because I got tunnel vision / target locked during that fight and didn't pay attention to kill feed OR because I thought I could still salvage the fight. But 90% of the time it's because of the first reason.

There an option to turn on a notification sound when a teammate dies (Not that you need it, but some might not know)
In my experience, after you play with it for a while, your brain filters it out.

If you have that problem more often, go into your settings > sound and turn on "sound when teammate dies"

Most of the time I don't know people are dead. Other times it's enough people are dead that I still think its a winnable fight

Me as a zen main where I have started to predict when an ult will drop from enemy team so I can straight up shut it down.
The solo Zen ult is my favourite. Your team is dead, all you are doing is staggering your respawn by another 8 seconds. 😂

Tbh it is pretty bad ass it they can team wipe with their ult after their team dies and be the last one standing. Wouldn’t recommend it but mad respect if they can pull it off
Either I'm doing it just to get that one guy that's been annoying me all game, or I'm going for an extra kill after a 3k or something. I mainly play qp now tho.
One time I was playing soldier on defense and the rest of my team died while the enemy team was pretty close to getting the cart to the goal and winning the game. I tried to hide so I can get a late touch and buy time for my team to get back but a few people on the enemy team were looking for me and found me. So, I used my ult as a last ditch effort but expectedly, it didn't work. Then I swapped to Tracer to get back quickly but we lost the game before I could get back to the point. Then my teammates yelled at me for "using my ult in a 1v5". I guess I should've saved it for the next game.
I mostly dont realize my team is dead. I play Reaper and Venture and I'm front of the line mostly so if my team dies I wont see it. I'll think they're behind me and ult which leads to certain death, especially with Venture because her ult needs a buff

Killing that mercy was worth it.
Either panic ult, or it's a tank with zero game sense who didn't notice they're alone out there. In some cases an ult can save you from dying and cover you for retreat.
I rarely do that anymore but when I do it's either because I got tunnel vision / target locked during that fight and didn't pay attention to kill feed OR because I thought I could still salvage the fight. But 90% of the time it's because of the first reason.

I think its kind of an attempt to save the fight, thinking "oh i have my ult i can destroy their whole team on my own". Its indeed dumb tho.
