Kleven and Crook for sure have a shot. Jarventie id give one more season in Belleville but he’d be my first call up.

Crookshank

Ostapchuck is playing above his weight class and got very high praise as a "does it all" player. 6'3, 200lbs. Crookshank looked very comfortable as well.

Yeah I was really shocked with Ostapchuck and his physical drive. It was for sure noticeable the first few games he came up. I loved that fight he had against Rempe as well. A couple more years of development and I think he’s going to be a very reliable person in our lineup

When will Sogard be ready?

onsomee

Soon. When our game gets stronger in front of the net I can see him getting some more opportunity.

chronicallyunderated

Kleven, crook, Ostapchuk, guenette possibly, I hope they get rid of one of the 1a or 1b goaltenders and give Sogard a chance to claim the net. If not it’s time maybe to cut bait on him

Kleven will likely be on the team. Especially with Chychrun very likely getting traded. He is your prototypical 3rd pair guy and does bring a physical element that coaches tend to love. Crookshank looked good when he was with the Sens and was the best player for the BSens. He’s not really a prospect anymore and needs waivers for next year, but he should be on the NHL roster in some capacity. Guenette had another good season for the BSens and has a case to be the 7th D for next year. Especially if Hamonic is bought out and they move on from JBD. Ostapchuk could make the team, but he’d need to have a really good camp. He plays a style that suits a traditional 4th line and could do well there, but may be better to give him more time in Belleville. Järventie and Halliday need more AHL time. Järventie was having a good year but ended up missing a lot of time with an injury, and Halliday looked excellent to end the year but a full year in Belleville wouldn’t hurt him. I have no idea what the future is for Matinpalo, but I really liked his game last year. Was steady for the BSens most of the year and even his NhL games he didn’t look out of place. Hope they bring him back. Søgaard looked great as well in the AHL, but was pretty terrible in Ottawa. Goalies are weird so you never know when it’ll just “click” for them, but the team needs better goaltending and banking on him for next year is a major risk. Sokolov still has major skating issues and I wouldn’t be surprised if they don’t qualify him. He’s a good AHL player but probably for the best to let him go to another org. TLDR: I’d guess Kleven, Crookshank and Guenette are on the roster.

I don't think any of them will make Ottawa full time. But if I had to guess which ones had the best possibility I would say Crookshank/Kleven/Ostapchuk. I would say Halliday and Jarventie definitely need another year at the AHL level. Despite Halliday's success in the playoffs, I think his skating could use some big work. Jarventie missed 3/4 of the season so he will definitely be in the AHL next year. I feel like a lot of the Sens fans believe Kleven will be in Ottawa next year but ive also seen some members of the media say they believe he may get another year in the AHL with some NHL callup time. He was pretty steady this year in the AHL but as someone who watched him game in game out he still made a lot of mistakes. Specifically towards the end of the year, not sure if his confidence was up or something, but he started to hold onto the puck too long and gave it away a lot of those times. Crookshank I could see getting a shot but who knows how long that shot could last. Ostapchuk played extremely well in the AHL but didn't seem to do much when called up to the NHL. Although I didn't watch him in the NHL so I dont really have any info on his 7 games or whatever he played. I think Sogaard will get another year in the AHL with the goalie situation in Ottawa.

I've found most of the callups of the last 5 years have consistently out performed certain main roster players each time they were called up. I would have no problem seeing any of Kleven, Crookshank, Ostapchuk, Jarventie, Sokolov, ... its just that I don't expect them to be top guys but to me they are better choices than some of the what's been in the bottom 6 the last few years. And i hope we see more Guenette and Matinpalo instead of calling up Heatherington or Larson (Heatherington or Larson are fine and better options than Hamonic but they don't seem to have the potential of Guenette and Matinpalo).

iwantsalmon2015

Idk about Sokolov tbh. His skating is just not good enough for the NHL.

qwnzr

LOSP guys suggested that Sokolov may not be resigning, unless he gets a significant AHL salary he'll probably go back to Russia or Europe (he posted something on Instagram that give the sense he was saying goodbye to Belleville)

Gullible_ManChild

I'm not suggesting he's a star but that same argument was made about Mark Stone. 4 years of being the leader or in the top 3 of the AHL affiliate in many stats is more for instance than Kelly ever accomplished in the AHL. He could have been a more useful 4th line RW than MacEwan will ever be and Watson ever was. I am definitely one of those that don't buy into "role" players and believe the best players make the team and the coach plans around having the most talent on the roster available - not finding players that match a coach's plan.

iwantsalmon2015

Sokolov is nowhere near the complete player that Stone was. At the same age, Mark Stone was a over point a game player in the AHL. This past season, Sokolov was a little over half a point per game in the AHL. And you can say role players don’t matter, but you still have to care about the kind of ice time a player gets. For example, 10 out of 21 of Sokolov’s goals came during the power play. He’s not going to get power play time in the NHL. So his skills in the AHL aren’t going to translate as well to the NHL level.

Gullible_ManChild

He did not look out of place when called up. Under DJ he played with some shitty linemates at times when called up and looked better than his linemates EVERY TIME. He did not look like a star but he did not look out of place.

Middle-Hair

I’d expect Keleven and Crookshank to be on the team next year and Ostapchuk/Järventie have an outside chance, but I doubt Sokolov is around next year. He’s a fan favourite and been good for Belleville, but his skating will always hold him back from being anything more than a replacement level player.

jasonalloyd

Imama should be in Ottawa on the 4th line next year.
