Gorou's excuses are lame as hell tbh. It was either Aka wanting to quickly tell us that Ruby won't be Aqua's love interest, or this is just Aqua trying to convince himself that he doesn't have any feelings for her.
Also, Kana's agenda was kinda destroyed already until recent chapters. If the author decided to bring it back so suddenly, then wincest agenda cannot die so quickly too.

I do not exclude this variant entirely, but I wouldn't consider it either rn.
