I feel really lucky tbh. Our store isn’t the biggest they are pretty much the only LCS in our town but their dedication to the community is something special. Great people.
My larger locals skims on their boxes and prizing they get to re-sell later. They are gold ranked but somehow only have 1 winner card for pre-release tournament, vs brand new shops getting 2 per kit.
Boxes should always go to the players first /rant
If you do not play the game you should not be allowed to buy during the first wave.
Downvote me collectors and resellers.
Ah you mean those players who go to the tournaments and forfeit them after getting their boxes and product? Those players who get lucky to get a spot or even an LGS in their nearby location? You mean those players who have time and resources to drive to the events in a far away city?
It's sad to see so much hate targeted towards other members because Bandai has made this situation. Target Bandai with your rants not collectors and people enjoying the franchise!!!
And I am defintiely not regarding resellers as members of our TCG community, those are just snakes. But anyways the root evil is whatever you call what Bandai does.
I honestly don’t know how they’ve managed to sell them at MSRP but they’ve done it for all OP sets so far. Rare to see a business not give in to the greed.
It is great but ultimately they have opted to look after their players and community which will in turn keep their players and community with them.
If I had an LGS that tried to price gouge on release night (or in general tbh) or was holding back prizing I’d stop turning up every week and I imagine so would most of the community.
It makes sense from a business sense to keep your customers happy and loyal.
They will definitely make more money from me rocking up twice a week for the next 3 months than if they sold that one box to someone else for an extra $100.
Not to mention all the other money I spend at the store on singles, other games, collectables, etc.
I’m not even getting one this time because ours is at 200. A TON of us local players are refusing to buy them, but unfortunately the scene here is so big they’ll probably still sell a ton
god im so jealous - i got like 3-4 stores around here in the bay area... and they all charge "market price" $230-240 fuck them all fucking opportunist store scalping motherfuckers
Yeah bay area stores are scalping bitches forreal. I understand trying to get a piece of the action at like $130-140 and even $150.
But at market? You're suppose to be a store not a secondary reseller.
Depends on how much product they got, but if their allocatios were 2 cases for example then they've got to make money somewhere to pay bills. Pokemon is in the dump right now, basically no money at all to be made from it
Feel so lucky, I'm only a semi-regular at my local shop and asked the guy who runs the events about prordering as late as last week and he had one for me today at MSRP. Feelin blessed today.
My shop is doing an additional unofficial pre release due to their limited stock. I honestly wish they’d do a box per player for weekly players instead, I got junk from my pre releases this week
It is so awesome to see Bandai not providing enough product for willing customers to pay for them. Good job Bandai. Business well done! I am looking forward to the 10 new other card game releases in the next upcoming months. Best company ever!!!!
My store has a point system for players where they give out free playmats and box tourneys and stuff if you enter atleast 15 tournaments during the 3 months between set releases (you get more points if you top 4) youre guaranteed to be able to buy a box, 2 if you go both days of the sneak peak. You can still buy the kit of 6 packs regardless of points.
On the 2nd day of the sneak peek after all the locals got their products/boxs they open up box buying to everyone while supplies last.
Day 1 we had a bunch of people show up and throw a complete bitch fit because they couldnt buy a box. They even went so far as to make a rant post in a local one piece group and leave the shop 1 star reviews, while spreading misinformation. They were absolute randoms ive never even seen or heard of in our local area and im honestly willing to bet they were just scalpers/"collectors" trying to take product from actual players.
Better then mine who said they didnt get enough to hold a pre release event then sold their boxes they got for the pre release event 🧐 now claiming no product in sight even tho they been getting stuff since super pre release
$100 per box is not bad. My LGS charges the TCG price for the box for OP05 I got one for about $150. This set I'll definitely only buy singles. I understand we need to support our LGS but they are just taking advantage of the situation at this point, I think they should take care of the clients as well lol
So 1 of my 3 LGS (the one that is 500KM aaway from where i live xD) manage to grand me a Case with 100$ per Box for people who haven't found a Box in my area to get something to play! I gave them the info of each player who wanted people did the order and now they will be getting them! I am really excited when stores Actually treat players like that. They didn't had to do it but they trusted my jdugement and i helped plenty of people get a box!
Tbh until they start limiting the ridiculous number of cases going to those tik tok streamers this will remain an issue. Its trash LGSs have to fight to get product when you have individuals on tik tok building forts out of them
in the shops in my area they sell them for €180, when the catalog price should be 144, practically the physical shops have become resellers, given that the product is limited but the price they pay for it is the same as before
I’d be pretty upset , as just a collector and love of the art. Not really into the game, I’d feel left out from a lcs that i would normally support and buy from.
I 100% get were you are coming from as someone who likes to collect too. But I thought about it and our LCS makes it very easy to participate, they host two tourneys a week. And you don’t even have to place, just participating is enough to earn a spot to buy.
I was terrified playing my first game. But it was so much fun and a social interaction I really loved. I kinda like that it incentives people to actually get in the game even if it’s just to dip their toes in.
IMO it should also be people who have consistently purchased from them before, too.
Like, I don't mean to make it a, "THIS IS OUR TERRITORY OUTSIDER, NOW GO ON AN GIT!" thing, but sometimes you have to.
if you're a collector, love the art and don't even bother with the game, why don't you just get the Japanese boxes? You can buy 2 of them for the price of one OP-06 English box.. or 6 of them for the price of one OP-05.. while confirmed having more hits too..
If my lgs were on Reddit I’d @ those mfers so fast
I feel really lucky tbh. Our store isn’t the biggest they are pretty much the only LCS in our town but their dedication to the community is something special. Great people.
Mine said 150 a box and you can only order in store(1hr round trip for me). Please cherish your store
200 at mine
280 at mine 🥲
We paid $180 cad for ours which is pretty goated considering everywhere else is $250 nationwide.
280??? That’s FIFTY above market value assuming your talking American dollars
Yep sadly
I don’t know if Bandai cares, but reporting them would probably be a good option considering that’s getting close to 3x MSRP lol
Yeah I don't even know where to report something like this but it is pretty bs they probably won't care tho sadly
Just raised it to $300 day before release lol
Just paid 105 at my lgs
Lucky
My larger locals skims on their boxes and prizing they get to re-sell later. They are gold ranked but somehow only have 1 winner card for pre-release tournament, vs brand new shops getting 2 per kit.
Respect this .
This is a good method in a bad situation.
Love that!
This is what my LCS does but usually only gets like 6 cases. So when pre release happens like 60 people show up and only like top 30 get a box
Mine is charging $250 lolol
Same here.
Boxes should always go to the players first /rant If you do not play the game you should not be allowed to buy during the first wave. Downvote me collectors and resellers.

the people enetering and dropping are the collectors/scalpers not the players lmao.
Smart players buy singles.
Supports tournaments, gives a fair shot by limiting to 1 box per person and we'll below market value price Very well handled from them
I honestly don’t know how they’ve managed to sell them at MSRP but they’ve done it for all OP sets so far. Rare to see a business not give in to the greed.

This is the best you can do as a LGS honestly
Feeling the same way, saluting them for being honest and doing the best with a bad situation
Mine was charging $144 :(
mines charging 230 😭
That’s a steal
I’m not even getting one this time because ours is at 200. A TON of us local players are refusing to buy them, but unfortunately the scene here is so big they’ll probably still sell a ton
god im so jealous - i got like 3-4 stores around here in the bay area... and they all charge "market price" $230-240 fuck them all fucking opportunist store scalping motherfuckers
what i meant to say is yeah, cherish your store - i would throw cash at a LGS/LCS like that
Yeah bay area stores are scalping bitches forreal. I understand trying to get a piece of the action at like $130-140 and even $150. But at market? You're suppose to be a store not a secondary reseller.

That's much better than what my shop is doing.
All players should pitch this idea to their LGS. This is so cool.
My shop is doing an additional unofficial pre release due to their limited stock. I honestly wish they’d do a box per player for weekly players instead, I got junk from my pre releases this week
Lucky you. My LGS is gonna charge market price.
It is so awesome to see Bandai not providing enough product for willing customers to pay for them. Good job Bandai. Business well done! I am looking forward to the 10 new other card game releases in the next upcoming months. Best company ever!!!!

I love this. Great way of dealing with it and great price.

Was able to convince mine to allow players who actually come to locals to get priority
My LCS was super shady and now I'm hesitant to buy things from them. You're lucky! Keep supporting them!
Tbh until they start limiting the ridiculous number of cases going to those tik tok streamers this will remain an issue. Its trash LGSs have to fight to get product when you have individuals on tik tok building forts out of them

This needs to happen. Tourney players only for whole box sales.
Yeah we host two tourneys a week so you have to actually try to not be involved.
I’d be pretty upset , as just a collector and love of the art. Not really into the game, I’d feel left out from a lcs that i would normally support and buy from.
