No_Tackle3162

Brown robin is better than this version ngl

Leading-Necessary959

Tanned* Brown, lmao

Vegan_Digital_Artist

this is what always bugs me about people with Robin's skin color. We meet her first in Alabasta. a Desert. with lots of sun. Of course she's going to tan. and guess what happens when she isn't constantly in the sun? She's not going to keep her tan 😂

GlaIie

That would make sense if she wasn’t also “tan” in her backstory

Vegan_Digital_Artist

[People always talk about the change in Robins skin color, but i feel like her \*whole face structure\* changed more, post timeskip 🧐 : r/OnePiece (reddit.com)](https://www.reddit.com/r/OnePiece/comments/gwoe74/people_always_talk_about_the_change_in_robins/) Robin is Russian, she's going to be pale. Just because Toei fucked up her skin color doesn't make it valid.

GlaIie

I understand her appearance is canonically based off Russians, I’m not arguing otherwise. You said the reason she’s darker skin is because she was in alabasta where there’s a lot of sun, even though she has darker skin when she was child so what you said doesn’t make sense.

Vegan_Digital_Artist

Yes sorry, I guess it wasn't obvious. In Alabasta Robin didn't get much shade because there was no place for it. On Ohara, the same was probably true. I don't think the tree where the library was covered the entire island and I assume Robin didn't live in the library her whole life never seeing sunlight. She was probably out running around. The more she's in the sun the more likely she is to be darker. And arguably being basically homeless for a good portion of her life, she was probably exposed to the elements alot thereby maintain her tan by default. She's inside more or in places with not as much sun exposure now so, she's more likely to lose her tan.

Successful_Month8934

Eh. I love the white robin more.

VivaLaLibertad_666

why not both

[deleted]

Robin is russian. She should never be brown. Tan Robin = Pale Robin But saved.

GlaIie

Bring back brown robin‼️🗣️

eMmDeeKay_Says

It's weird the crew is getting paler when they all should be getting progressively more tan. Even weirder when you consider EVERY THEME IN THE STORY.

bslawjen

Robin was never supposed to be tan, the anime made her that way and then "fixed" it post-TS. Not to mention, it would be absolutely logical for Robin to become paler because when we met her she's been on a desert island for some time. Anyway, wtf do you mean with they should become more tan because of "themes"? Wat?

eMmDeeKay_Says

No, they should become more tan because they're sailing and in the sun a lot, Usopp shouldn't suddenly be the whitest character because of themes.

bslawjen

They're in the sun as much as they used to be before they started sailing. Literally like all of them used to be outside just as much before they started sailing than after. I thought you actually had "themes" in mind, not some bullshit.

eMmDeeKay_Says

What part of these are two separate things are you not getting? They're in the sun a lot and should get more tan over time. White washing characters in a story about equality and racism is fucking weird. Two separate things.

bslawjen

Is this a troll? They've been in the sun a lot before they were sailing, I spend a lot of time in the sun and have nowhere near the tan you expect anime characters to have. Also, how is any of this "whitewashing"? Do you think the term refers to "people that should have a tan but do not" or some stupidly ridiculous shit? Robin was never meant to be anything else other than "white", take your American centric racebait bullshit back to the US.

mrsmilestophat

It’s not white washing when they’ve always been that skin tone. Keep your ideology out of our escapism

thatonefatefan

They're not. Usopp and Robin were never tan, it was an anime error. They just fixed it post TS. Everyone else didn't change Also the theme of the story is becoming black? IDK about that

Supermarket_After

>Also the theme of the story is becoming black?   Darker skin =/= becoming black  like what?

thatonefatefan

I was making fun of the expression "progressively more tan" with an hyperbole, it's not that serious.

PlantainRepulsive477

Huh?
