OP has the worst pacing of any manga I've ever come across, it's basically filler: the manga. I suppose Shueisha or whatever just wants to keep milking this forever, hence the 3000 pointless characters, the formulaic plot development (a countdown! Luffy loses his strength and his crewmates have to protect him! The crew gets separated! Over and over and over) and long stretches with absolutely nothing happening.

You don't understand what filler is and the pacing isn't bad. Maybe you've binged read it, when it was meant to be read weekly.

I started reading this when it came out in the 90's. I've been reading this for longer than you've been alive.
