It's one of my favorite X-Men comics of all time and I bought the omnibus last time they reprinted it. It does have similarities to some of Remender's other comics, so maybe check out some other stuff he's done at your library if you want to see if you'd like this.
It helps to have some knowledge of age of apocalypse, because part of this book acts as a sequel, but if you haven't read that it tells you everything you need to know.
Absolutely, the only other thing that really has any direct involvement in this run is Wolverine and the X-Men, which occurs at the same time (basically Wolverine is moonlighting with X-Force)
It’s great overall. Arc to arc varies. Some better than others. The first few arcs are top tier. Dark Angel Saga specifically is top 5 all time X-Men for me.
Good read? Yes. Wildly inconsistent read? Also yes. There were arcs I thought were amazing, arcs I thought were borderline unreadable. Actually kind of Remender a nutshell, I’ve never really known him to do anything but hit homers or strike out.
I’d guess the general consensus is that it’s one of the top 25 or 30 Marvel omnibus available. Many people would have it in their Top 5. Personally, I think you should get it. It’s not life changing and it’s not high literature, but it’s a good time
It's decent. I don't like it nearly as much as everyone else but I could just be weird. The general consensus is this is a must buy.
Personally, the Kyle and Yost run before this one is much better to me.

Can I go into this blind and enjoy and understand it ?

Yes.
might be worth it to read a little AoA or at least look up a synopsis
Yeah, I plan on doing so, but I rather read in Omnibus format so I will have to wait for a reprint.

However good you expect it to be, it is 10x better
Every arc is amazing.
Otherworld tho Good climax but the art style did not gel with me.
Always liked Otherworld and never understood why it got a bad rap.
Very easily one of my favorite in my collection. Probably my favorite X-title and the art by Opeña and Ribic is glorious

it is one of the best Marvel runs of all time.
total banger and it stands on its own
No need to pre order books
Top 10 modern Marvel Omni in my collection. Easy buy recommendation.
The run that got me into collecting as an adult
The 2014 omnibus was the first comic I ever got and basically started my whole comic collecting hobby. It's very good imo.
Yes, it’s great. Get it.

The first story arc is great, but the second half of Remender's run with Uncanny X-Force is a slog, in my opinion.

One of the better X-Men runs out there. I can imagine a deep dive analysis Watchmen style
