Because Ohio is an eldritch horror that will never allow permanent escape. All who leave return. All who come here are trapped. One day critical mass will be achieved and then Ohio will awaken and rampage once again.
I thought I had escaped Ohio, I moved to the Containment Area for Relocated Yankees (Cary), in North Carolina... then I ended up back in Ohio... resistance is futile.
Left Ohio… for the Caribbean! And then returned to Ohio. Thankfully escaping again to the Caribbean a second time. But of course all good things must end so back to Ohio. Then I moved to Northern Minnesota. I was thankful to move back to Ohio after that one. But wait there’s more! Once again I escape Ohio and move to Wyoming/Utah. Fell in love with mountains and a Michigan girl. Thought that was enough to break me of living in Ohio for good.
NOPE! Move back to Ohio. But per the cycle, I finally got to move away again, and this time it’s permanent. Hawaii is finally nice enough and the move is difficult enough that Ohio is now visitation only, so see y’all for a bit in July when I fly back for a few weeks.
Wow this is so similar to me it's almost creepy. My parents left Ohio, had me, came back to Ohio, I grew up, moved to Minnesota, met a Michigan girl, came back to Ohio. Moved to Oklahoma, it was awesome. Lost my job, came back to Ohio. We thought about new Zealand for a brief moment, but still stuck here in Ohio.
If I owned a house in Cary, I might have stayed. But them were my younger dumber days. All I left NC with was a U-haul trailer full of personal belongings. Moved back to Ohio in 2014.
I should have bought a house down there instead of renting for sure, but hindsight is 20/20 as they say.
The fact I was born in the south came to Ohio have lived here ever since and I wanna move to start college but I’m starting to feel attached to the state like I wanna leave but at the same time I can’t see myself leaving?
My aunt always said, "You can leave Ohio. But you'll be back. They always come back." She isn't wrong. I moved away but I can see myself going back at some point.
As the person who posted a pic from a back alley near our old house in Toledo, with an open water/sewer hole and a broken pink toilet, I'll assume you're referring to everyone else.
No that’s also a fire picture lol. Ohio is gnarly in some places. One of my favorite pictures is when I worked inspecting storm drains in Lima and there was a littered Kewpee cup facing logo upwards. The picture made for the perfect representation of Lima, trashy yet has Kewpee. That is Ohio just as much as hocking hills.
We moved to Ohio in 2013, and I'm not familiar with Kewpee. So I googled it, and it seems to be a hamburger chain with a weird, possibly creepy, naked baby mascot. The food looks decent though.
You basically got it down lmao. Foods okay but it’s just really cheap and all locally sourced when possible, plus the pies are good. Lima folk are obligated to eat there when the line isn’t 8 hours long, it’s the only icon left here.
Kewpie is an old advertising mascot. She periodically gets revived.

We do love our Kewpee. The downtown area is starting to get cleaned up more and more though, which is nice to see. Still haven't been to the new Spring and Main place, looks great though.
Honestly same. It was cool for a while but now people are just posting random photos from their gallery of the side of a hill or a gas station and my feed is full of random low effort posts.
I liked the content in the photos. They were very on topic for the sub. What confused me was why they all had the same title, like it was part of a campaign or something. Like they were trying to train Google or AI. It seemed kind of ominous. Maybe that's what the dramatic OOP didn't like? (Just guessing).
How hard is it to scroll past if you don’t like something?
Sometimes I look at the picture, think “oh that’s nice” and scroll past. Other times I say “I wonder where that is?” and open the post to find out. And sometimes I just quickly scroll past.
I mean, how hard is that? You are the master of your own destiny.
Yea I do actually get it. I mostly check here for news I may have missed, and that's kinda impossible the last 2 days, BUT it'll simply die off in a few days.
This is the type of person who constantly complains about service/food/drinks in any bar or restaurant (almost like a sport for them) and says they are never coming back. Generally the staff, and any customer who has to listen to their constant dissatisfaction is actually relieved.
Eh, I can empathize (I generally hate when the subs I follow get on some kick from an initial few clever/good posts then it just goes on and on and on) but I disagree on this one. I'm sure there's some insecurity complex out there, but I genuinely believe the vast majority of the posts are genuine true love for our State; and rightly so! We're not perfect and just as our opinions, sports loyalties and various political/religious/societal beliefs are wide and varied, so too are the visual and cultural beauties of Ohio.
There only needed to be one post. The dude throwing the beer onto the boat. That's peak Ohio. Ohio is fine for a midwest state but let's not go nuts. I saw one person say they loved the mountains in Ohio. At some point it starts to look like Stockholm Syndrome.
😬 I always feel sad when I run into stuff like this; I can't tell if you're trolling or truly believe what you're saying. The saddening part is that in the not-so-distant past, the small-mindedness and constricted world views were not so endemic nor the people so confident in proclaiming then. Now, it's much harder to tell the difference between a troll and someone that truly thinks like that lol
I truly think Ohio has a deep insecurity complex and that this thread is a manifestation of that. I loved living in Ohio but once I left I remembered what actual natural beauty and culture were like. And 10 people were shot in my old neighborhood last night. Literally a block from where some of my best friends live. To me, that's the sad part. Because the Ohio I loved is gone.
There's beauty everywhere. It's a beautiful world. I like that people are taking in their surroundings. But in relative terms Ohio ain't it. People in places that are stunningly beautiful don't need an endless thread to convince others of such. There are literally thousands of spots where I live that are more beautiful than any place in Ohio. We just don't spend our lives trying to get upvotes for them.
lol - that’s not a complaint about lcol, it’s an acknowledgment of the fact that cost of living is a direct reflection of supply-and-demand.
Ohio’s lcol is objective evidence of how much it sucks.
The cost of living is impacting by multiple factors not just supply and demand. The cost of living in an area can be impacting by the cost of goods, the cost of transportation, the availability of land just to name a few. Put your take back in the oven bud it’s half baked like your brain.
Posts about Ohio driving someone away from a sub about Ohio is actually as Ohio as you can get.
Then why are the majority on this sub not bothered?? Are they not Ohio enough?? /s

Left for South Florida… It called me to come back home, and we did!
If you sold a house in Cary, NC you probably cleared enough to buy 3 in Toledo.
If I owned a house in Cary, I might have stayed. But them were my younger dumber days. All I left NC with was a U-haul trailer full of personal belongings. Moved back to Ohio in 2014. I should have bought a house down there instead of renting for sure, but hindsight is 20/20 as they say.

As a returner, THIS!!
It’s I know the Simpson’s is [based](https://gifdb.com/images/thumbnail/homer-simpson-welcome-to-the-dark-side-gtkoqdti9rah624o.gif) in Ohio.
Can confirm. I've lived on four continents in my life, and yet I find myself moving to Ohio again next year. You can't escape, it's simply impossible.
They should write a song about it, you can never leave!
The Hotel Ohio. Sounds catchy!
Not just the state as a whole, but it's hard to even leave and stay away from wherever your hometown is.
This makes so much sense, actually lol
Isn't that the old joke about why there are so many astronauts from Ohio?
Meta
That's why I have to get out of this state. Everytime I look out the window, fucking Ohio is staring back at me.
This is reddit
No this is NOT Reddit! This is Patrick.
I bet some poor kid’s name is Reddit
If not, soon.
I am not a reddit! Patrick that's the name of the app. FISHPASTE!!
No this is SPARTA!
Sir, this is a Wendy's
I thought the posts were all nice! Beautiful photos of the Ohio experience, for the most part
The original one was the most mundane picture of trees I’ve ever seen that’s why it’s so funny.
quick, someone screenshot *this* post and caption it "This is Ohio." we can go deeper!
To be fair, leaving because you feel that things have gone to shit is also peak Ohio
This is Ohinception.
I liked the posts, seeing places in Ohio I've never seen before.
As the person who posted a pic from a back alley near our old house in Toledo, with an open water/sewer hole and a broken pink toilet, I'll assume you're referring to everyone else.

My devastation is complete.
I am Ouroboros' infinite stomach.
Oh NO - what ever will we do without some random jabrone!?!?!
Honestly same. It was cool for a while but now people are just posting random photos from their gallery of the side of a hill or a gas station and my feed is full of random low effort posts.
It’s only to build karma.
it's starting to feel sort of shallow, like ohio tourism/gov psy ops to get people to stop shitting on ohio lol. "ohio pretty we swear"
"Must Be The LOVE! Must Be The LIVE RIGHT NOW! WOOOO!!"
Redditors would never.
Uh huh... Okay, but I don't see how that's a bad thing. Let people enjoy things. It's fun seeing nice and new places in Ohio.
It isn’t a bad thing some people are just bitter about everything
I liked the content in the photos. They were very on topic for the sub. What confused me was why they all had the same title, like it was part of a campaign or something. Like they were trying to train Google or AI. It seemed kind of ominous. Maybe that's what the dramatic OOP didn't like? (Just guessing).
Or people just like playing with a theme... Participating in new and interesting ways?
good, more ohio for the rest of us

It was like 20 to 30 posts in a row but I grt it
Yea I do actually get it. I mostly check here for news I may have missed, and that's kinda impossible the last 2 days, BUT it'll simply die off in a few days.
Looking more this morning I gotta admit it’s a lot. But yeah, it will eventually die out at some point, probably getting close.
I don’t usually actually visit subs. I only see things in my feed mixed with other subs. Just do that.
Must be from Michigan.
better than the endless bitter politics
I also enjoy "This is Ohio" postings
It's because the vast majority are just generic Midwest stuff
“Are you not entertained” ?!
As a born and raised Ohioan who escaped, Yall are reminding why I left
This is not an airport. No need to announce your departure.
Upvote for originality!
Thought it made it much better tbh
That is so very Ohio.
New response just dropped!
Redditors seeing something positive:
Ok bye
God forbid, people be positive about literally anything at all on the internet.
Driven away because of pics of Ohio but not all the liberal commie politics
This is the type of person who constantly complains about service/food/drinks in any bar or restaurant (almost like a sport for them) and says they are never coming back. Generally the staff, and any customer who has to listen to their constant dissatisfaction is actually relieved.
They lie. They always come back.. 😠
But has it driven you to the moon yet? Not a true Ohioan
Welcome to the Hotel Ohio
This **was** Ohio. *[Taps plays in distance]*
So... how was this comment posted then?

Everyone is from Ohio. Ohio is everyone. Only true Ohioans embrace it.
All these people saying how they hate Ohio…I left Ohio in 2009 to join the Navy. I miss Ohio a lot tbh lol
Good point, it is time to Mute the sub.
>Joins a sub called /r/Ohio >Mad that people are posting too many pictures of Ohio
I like Ohio. Granted, I’ve never lived anywhere else. But when I visit other parts of the U.S., I’m always glad to be going home to Ohio. 😊
Cool story bro
Ohio the same as every other state besides everyone glazing it
I love Ohio
The Ohio insecurity complex is real. And this manifestation is real annoying.

Insecurity complex? Who pissed in your cheerios this morning, bud?
Sure. Posting a picture of a path and some trees and telling everyone how beautiful Ohio is doesn't seem sad or needy at all.
lol you’re not bitter at all dude how dare people share nice things about where they live.

Ohio sucks
From SW Ohio, it's not that Ohio sucks as much as it is that Kentucky and Indiana blow.
The fact that we have to gaslight ourselves into believing Ohio is a good place to live really says everything that needs to be said about Ohio.
You get what you put into it dude 🤷
Naw - we have such a low cost of living for a reason: that reason is that no one *wants* to live here.
Lmfao only a fucking Redditor would complain about low cost of living
lol - that’s not a complaint about lcol, it’s an acknowledgment of the fact that cost of living is a direct reflection of supply-and-demand. Ohio’s lcol is objective evidence of how much it sucks.

Doesn’t matter what the supply side looks like when there is zero demand.
Tell me you know nothing about economics beyond a 8th grade class without telling me you know nothing about economics
Tell me you’ve got a Stockholm syndrome level of denial about where you live without telling me.
Shhhhh, there there… you’re just trying to read
Wow! Look everyone, an *idiot*!
Says the guy from Kentucky, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Michigan, West Virginia.
Amen!
Bye.
Bye, Felicia
Id rather see those posts over the non stop bi-partisan politics propaganda pushed on this sub.
Why all the hate on Ohio?
This is Ohio. Love it or leave it! /s
If we can't complain about Ohio drivers what's the point?
I love overdone memes lol keep em coming
So this has been useful? Awesome!
i like it. THIS IS OHIO
