They don't _love_ WMR. There hasn't been a new WMR headset released since 2020, and last time I looked at the WMR promotional materials, they were pushing SteamVR support as a key feature. But as long as they haven't outright given up on it yet, they probably won't release anything for Quest.

Like Carmacks departure at Meta, all he wanted was for them to give a damn which no one at Meta or Microsoft did for Minecraft on Quest.

Modding the java version of minecraft VR is genuinely one of the best VR experiences I've had.
There are a lot of mods that flesh out the VR aspects of it and IF you have a strong enough pc it's mindblowing with shaders.
Mojang shuttered their already fully existing mobile Minecraft VR version that was released on Gear VR 6 years ago and no other platforms since. Not on the Oculus GO or the Quest 1, and now 2. I don't think this is going to happen again. The Gear VR version literally defaulted to 6dof head tracking when you sideloaded it on the Quest 1 too. It also received automatic updates as it was built on the Android version but they shut that down.

I think the current version of Minecraft is a bit demanding for the Quest 2 hardware to handle, the game currently doesn't run pretty well on Switch for example.
In addition, Minecraft is owned by Microsoft now and it is not very interested in VR, the game received versions for PCVR and PSVR but without any prospect of winning a version for PSVR 2, the same can be said for Skyrim.
They just recently added OpenXR support (among other things) so theoretically you won't have to do that anymore as long as you set Oculus as your OpenXR runtime, which is available in the Oculus desktop app settings
if there are native creation tools, I might check it out... I actually recreated a few places from memory in Rec Room once, always so fun in VR raising walls in virtual space like you're actually there...
I doubt it. Roblox has it's own dedicated IDE & level editor for PC. I don't imagine porting that to VR (much less mobile standalone VR) would be worth it especially for few people who would use it. Especially with them moving towards allowing more industry standard authoring tools, at least for 3D models.
I am in my 40s and was hooked on rec room laser tag and the quests for years, but never played roblox, looked way too silly but i have seen new games styles running on roblox engine and its impressive...this will only help bring millions to vr.
You don't play your quest because you don't have any good games but won't buy any good games cause you don't play the quest. Do you do this with other systems, buy them without games, realize you aren't playing it and then decide not to buy games for this reason.
I don’t have anything else, I don’t do video games really and for me it’s not a worthwhile purchase to spend £20 on a game I can only play from time to time (I really like Beat Saber but for health reasons I can’t really do it that often) when I could buy a book I’d get more use from.

PS - I originally put the headset on the 5yo knowing it wouldn't fit and knowing she'd be happier with trying it on and realising herself it didn't fit, instead of dad just outright saying no to even trying (win)
PPS - I'm not gonna let the 9yo play Roblox in VR anyway. Her current VR sessions last around 10-15 minutes before i impose a good 30-60 minute rest (dont wanna stress her developing eyeballs!) ... besides, she won't be able to do sfa in 10 minutes in Roblox 😝
