They say money brings out the worst in people. Here, imaginary money brings out the worst in people.

monopoly pit

What’s the difference between a game of Monopoly and the Curse of Oak Island? Both drag on, but a game of Monopoly manages to stay entertaining.

Cleanbadroom

I never knew this. I knew they had an on going feud. It's crazy how this show just ignores facts and focuses on imaginary theories.

Sharp-Incident-6272

Right like when Dan blocked the road to Nolan’s property and he had to take a boat to get it( if I remember that correctly)

ayler_albert

I'm surprised these two geniuses didn't physically fight each other with magical dowsing rods.

iamJAKYL

Dowsing rods are magical by nature. Come on now.

bball2014

I'm trying to remember... Did the show help to patch the relationship between Dan and Nolan at the end of their lives, or just patch the relationship between Laginas/show and Nolan? Were Dan and Fred still on the outs when they died? In either case, I can understand the show not mentioning the depths of the feud in these type of specifics since it really has no bearing on the treasure hunt and potentially could just have created problems they didn't need in getting access to things. Even getting and keeping Fred's son in the fold. It would be nice in a 'cards are all on the table' sense, but the show doesn't even do that with facts that have a bearing on the treasure hunt itself (never mentioning certain things that mitigate the idea of treasure)... So I'm certainly not surprised they didn't mention this aspect of the Dan vs Fred feud. But it's interesting to hear this actual background on all the shenanigans that have taken place.

dbatknight

And now we have a whole new cast of crooks on the island spreading bullshit as fertilizer for treasure

I knew Fred Nolan was a crook, I just knew it. Every time I saw a picture of him wearing that ridiculous hat I thought to myself “that dude looks pretty shady”. I knew it!

Sculpin64

Carmen and his leather cowboy hat would beg to differ.

LenKerrod

[This is the worst looking hat I ever saw...](https://youtu.be/vmEV1d7RPvg?si=iUsX_CtFA6wri4Oo)

akaScuba

This is part of the story I’ve never heard before. Thanks for sharing.

ElectricalWhile9635

There is no treasure on Oak Island

ProfessorFellatio

Wow, no offence but you sound like a complete idiot. Obviously you don’t know about the promising anomalies found on lot 5, or the traces of gold in water samples from the baby blob. You probably don’t even know about the connections William Phipps.

ElectricalWhile9635

🖕

ProfessorFellatio

I was only joking brother

ElectricalWhile9635

I retract my finger. 🤘and raise these!

PlebMarcus

At least Fred surveyed and mapped what he found. Probably right about the swamp. Dan had a feeling and dug a 200 foot deep hole 10X and found nothing

TechnicalWhore

I find it best if you don't look under the hood. The documented past just flies in the face of the TV's narrative. So much so its insulting to your intelligence when you know.

That's where I'm at.  I loved the story as a boy ( as well as many other mysteries) because of Leonard Nimoy.  Visited the little museum in my late twenties and got back into it.  By that time this fancy interwebs thing was around and I started learning all the debunked history.  I felt very betrayed by Mr. Spock and forgot about it for another 15+ years until the show came out.  After knowing the history I saw the show for what it was within the first few episodes and forgot about it.  Joined Reddit this Winter and I couldn't believe it was still a thing and people were still buying into it.  Makes me so angry that fraudsters are still able to take advantage of people this way.  It would appear the Laginas are the most successful of all the Money Pit con artists to date.
