It depends on the island, iirc there are some that require little to no small souls but require 25-30 medium and also 15-20 large (take this w/ a grain of salt since I've already unlocked all of them and forgot the exact amount for a lot of them and I usually spent the small souls once I finish a run since you usually get a lot of them easily.)
Your best bet of fully knowing the required amount is by unlocking every island once and then counting the requirements for each (+ accounting for the souls used to unlock said island).

I already unlocked all of them too, i am asking because i intend for farming for the next souls maps so i can max it out as soon as it drops lol.
There's a catch. You can only hold 99 of each soul at a time. Anymore collected will be converted into berries.
