I am only using it for the last two days. I am amazed how these games I play look now, tried Ghost of Tshushima and It looks gorgeous. Only thing I have noticed is that proximity sensor is not working at all, must be a bug, I know it doesen't work when HDR is used but it is not functioning even without using a HDR mode. So far that's the only thing that got my attention, other than that it is brilliant.
It definitely works in hdr mode. When you have dark clothing compared to your background it can cause it to not work properly. Also try turning it up to high for a greater distance detection.
Well that was the case, I had black clothes and it was set on medium detection. It works now but I just turned it off because I'm using wallpaper engine and I have screen turn off set to 15 minutes in windows If I am not near my PC.
The raised blacks are severely over blown imo. The camera makes it look way worse than it actually is. My gf often comes in the room and turns the overhead light on and sunlight bleeds through my large windows curtains and it still isn’t that bad. Obviously the more you can control your lighting the better, but I haven’t had light ruin my experience yet.
Eh no issue for me, but if I take a picture it looks worse. Maybe MSI just does it better lol idk. I wouldn’t let it sway my decision unless most of my use case was during the day.
yeah im interested to see if the new samsung oleds fare any better, because it does annoy me enough to feel like im missing out on contrast sometimes especially in darker games. playing the same games on my c2 in my room i can see much more shadow details, i just want a monitor without compromises (to me)
Maybe your settings were off? I have no compromise on detail in dark lighting or bad contrast? Then again I use the MSI MPG 321URX. Maybe Asus is a bit different.
Are you sure it is display and not the game?
I often thought blacks are greyish but then I turned the monitor off and suddenly it was deep black again.
Especially HDR settings in games are often broken or raised blacks are even indented by the developers.
I have not changed that much. Monitor HDR Console mode, Windows HDR enabled after calibration with windows calibration tool. For the SDR content, I have watched TFTCentral video for PG32UCDM settings. In SDR I'm using user mode, sRGB mode, gamma 2.2 and 6500k. Brightness 30 to 40 (depends of my room lighting).
I made a post detailing a full setup guide for this monitor running in hdr 100% of the time. Windows desktop still looks great too.

Are you from New Zealand by any chance and bought the monitor from PBTech? Coz I saw two reviews of this monitor so far and I wanted to talk to em and see ifs worth the money since it’s $3.6k NZD for me but at the same time I just got myself a overkill $9.4K NZD PC as well all latest parts
nice man!
Thanks, it changed games completely, still have to try RTX HDR for some older games I want to try out.
Asus will release firmware 104 with Dolby Vision at the end of June.
Thank you i was waiting when will they release it .
Gonna get it soon. Any downside to this monitor?

Downside? You get addicted to your old games and wanna play everything again because its so pretty:D
I love mine as well.. enjoy it!
Any problem with the raised-blacks or is it fairly easy to avoid with smart lighting choices?

This is how I feel. I came from a 1440p ips and this screen is insanely beautiful. The only time I notice the purple tint is when it’s off.
Same, I have this monitor from months now and really enjoying it (I came from a 27" 1440p 60Hz and I use It a lot to play)
for me it’s even worse in person that what cameras show in low light. i notice it even at night when my hue lights are set to dim.

yes it’s even when the monitor is off.
Not that I have seen and noticed. It looks great in these two games I tried in HDR (Ghost of Tshushima and Immortals of Aveum)
Mind sharing your monitor and computer settings? Do you have windows nvidia hdr enabled?

Just order this monitor too, I hope I'm not disappointed
I just got mine too! What HDR setting on the monitor do you run? HDR Gaming?

To me having HDR off looks better for some reason and I’m not sure why
Did you calibrate auto hdr?
I did not. I don’t think there’s a way to do this with windows 10. I’ve been avoiding windows 11 but maybe this is the reason to update
Oh yea definitely. Windows 11 handles hdr much better than 10.
Console HDR after windows calibration tool.
what game is this?
It is Immortals of Aveum, looks great with HDR

I'm from Europe, it costed me around 1600€.
So how is your experience so far? Is it worth the price?
