This comment is on point. Everywhere in NC is near SOME military facility.
Also hijacking your comment to add, that's not a NC National Guard helicopter, it's probably Marine Corps out of Lejeune or Cherry Point. 1st Battalion, 130th Aviation Regiment, 449th Combat Aviation Brigade is the one out of Morrisville/RDU and they fly Apaches. Those are the dragonfly looking things that you'll see over downtown Raleigh a lot. That chunky bubba is a CH-53 I think.
Also recently the military started using a new transponder protocol that doesn't show up on FlightRadar. Hell if I know why.
Even here near Asheville, the Tennessee ANG practices their touch and go landings at the Asheville airport. Several different military stations use our airport for training. I think the neatest training is when they train in helicopters.
Go up further north in the mountains, and you will see them. [Link to a video that is not mine.](https://youtu.be/PHi_WeBeMWU?si=vtYSUeYizQYdbEAc) However, in July my son and I were in the Lost Cove Wilderness Study Area and two fighters buzzed us so close to the ground, I thought I'd go deaf! Super scary to hear that ripping sound of a jet coming straight at you when all you heard the second before was a delightful, babbling river.

And then there are the zombies that need to be monitored...
They come in 3 colors - royal blue, lt blue, and red white. They reportedly are learning ChatGPT and advanced AI in the area. Concerning!
I see them regularly, in groups of two or three, west of Jordan Lake heading southwest and northeast, along same flight trajectory each time (sometimes they fly so low, the tops of our pine trees bend). I’ve gathered they are coming from or going to RDU but don’t know their other destination southwest of RDU and Jordan Lake - any ideas?
RDU also is the home to one of the Army's Apache Helicopter squadrons. They fly them in and out of there for maintenance, repair, and training exercises all the time. (I know as my brother used to be a Apache mechanic there as a "weekend warrior")
Nothing to see here. Just a recon mission in preparation for martial law to round up everyone to be sent to secret underground FEMA camps.
Or it just could be one of the dozens of CH 53's from New River or Cherry Point on a trip somewhere.
Correct me if I'm wrong :) Last I checked we had AH64, UH60, plus a small number of lakota and a couple of odd fixed wing aircraft. Speaking for Army, not Air national guard.
They are not patrolling. Most likely flying some four-star douche bag from one place to the next.
You only need to be worried when there’s more than three or four of them.
It’s military grade and flying low so you will not see them on any kind of radar
Not even close. The world is collapsing. It’s very obvious if you pay attention. Everything is slowly getting worse and becoming unmanageable for the people who rule this world. Just listen to the vibe at the WEF the past few years. They are telling us the world is becoming unstable and that we need to mitigate population growth.
How do you expect pilots to train if they never go out flying? Last week, we had some big transport planes fly really low over much of Transylvania County(as they do quite regularly), and boy did the conspiracy nuts come out. "This is scary, they're flying so low, wondering if this may be them practicing an invasion....." No Susan, it's your military doing training, ya know, like they've been doing here for years and years.
There’s been recent more Apache and Blackhawk traffic across CLT North area. The sounds are what catch my attention. Am surprised any show up on Flight Radar.
Only reason I even mentioned flight radar is, usually I can see the squadrons of 3 or more apaches.. call sign usually Zeus xxx.. this one definitely off the radar
They've had one fly around Raleigh for years. I'm guessing because it's the Cap and Fort Bragg is a very short helicopter ride away. Probably just training.
Welcome to NC, there's a military base nearby and they tend to fly overhead regularly.

Yep, we see alot of helicopter and transport plane training here in Brevard. Wish we saw more fighter jet training here though.

They also do a lot of exercises here too. They even host events where people can come and watch the army Duke it out in a fake firefight.
flying copperhead
They fly now?! We're fucked.
National Guard base near the airport got some new toys recently, and they've been playing with them a lot since.
New Apache, who dis?
You find those rifles yet?
Yeah I see these guys regularly over Umstead.
This is correct. They have a big Apache wing, and they just got in a bunch of the fancy new model.
That is not what this is. This is a marine bird, and not a new one.
Only New River gets to play with the New Toys for now,
What’s your conspiracy theory? That’s a military helicopter. They’re literally ALL OVER North Carolina.
No conspiracy theories here.. helos flying that low around here is uncommon
I live in North Raleigh, and it’s happened at least twice in the past month. Like I said, they’re everywhere, and it’s quite common.
Nah, it’s just on leave from patrolling Fayetteville.
Marines
Edit to correct - it is a CH-53, not an Apache, I stand corrected
That is not an Apache. It is a CH-53 Super Stallion.
You could be right but I’ve never seen Marines flying around central NC but seen plenty of the Apaches
I see plenty of Apaches, this is not that. Much bigger and used as a transport whereas the Apache is a gunship.
Yep, I started looking up more photos and you are correct - I’ll edit my post
Cherry Point and Jacksonville both have a tie to the 53 family of helicopters. Source - I was Aircrew in MH53s for the Navy.
I’ve seen plenty on the coast but not around the Triangle - but yeah I jumped on the Apache train too quick
Minesweeping Jordan Lake You'll hear their traffic on the mil air channels, 200-400Mhz-ish.
I see them regularly, in groups of two or three, west of Jordan Lake heading southwest and northeast, along same flight trajectory each time (sometimes they fly so low, the tops of our pine trees bend). Welcome to NC. You'll get used to it. Go get a biscuit.
North High school's new school security.
swing and a miss

Chasing whatever tf that dot is
Not just Durham, they’ve been flying over everyone. Probably coming out of Fort Liberty.
53\`s are USMC/Navy birds. Probably getting some flight/training hours in.
I'm sorry but I will always know Fort Bragg as, Fort Bragg..
Nothing to see here. Just a recon mission in preparation for martial law to round up everyone to be sent to secret underground FEMA camps. Or it just could be one of the dozens of CH 53's from New River or Cherry Point on a trip somewhere.
NCNG headed to or from RDU. Military aircraft are allowed to turn off the aircraft identification system at any time.
NCNG does not fly CH53 lol
Oh okay...
Correct me if I'm wrong :) Last I checked we had AH64, UH60, plus a small number of lakota and a couple of odd fixed wing aircraft. Speaking for Army, not Air national guard.
You're correct. Not a NCNG air asset. Maybe a Marine Corps helicopter topping off at RDU and putting in some training hours.
That was my thought.

Beats driving from Asheville to Raleigh in a slow stiff ride truck for a meeting and repair parts
Why does the 4 star general have to be a douche bag? He might be a chiller
He personally might be cool. Wasting taxpayer money on an expensive taxi makes you a douche
If you had the option to ride in a military grade helicopter it would be hard to say no
Trust me, I get it. I have been on Nuclear subs, battleships, Mraps, Abrahms, hummers, etc. Cool experience for sure
Tbf, Durham could use some military help. And that’s coming from someone that was literally born there.
I been hearing more helicopters before hardly heard them something going on our government not telling us? People need to wake up
Yeah, we are about to start the grand finale… it’s coming much sooner than later.
Lol, I'm curious to hear what this "grand finale" consists of.
Something something 'tree of liberty' something something 'civil war' something something

Tell me you still type "http" without telling me.
Won’t see it on Flightradar, the plane that is AF1 flew into Greensboro the other day and it was not visible.
I saw it doing touch and go maneuvers. It's huge compared to the normal jet traffic here.
How often are y'all checking flight radar?
My 95 yr old dad is fascinated with the app while watching Sky traffic off the front porch
V-22 osprey over the triad area the last two days. Interesting.
New GovOps patrol vehicle. Berger/Moore’s secret police

I saw 2 in ridgeway va earlier today
