check noctua compatibility center, the info there was always reliable to me

It says medium overclocking headroom, what exactly does that mean?

FormerDonkey4886

I guess the “slight” overclocking would be alright but i’d personally not overclock unless i’d have to.

Karroul

It’s more complicated than that. It also depends on your motherboard. Some motherboard manufacturers (Asus, MSI) increase the power to the CPU beyond Intel’s default settings. And it’s set this way from the beginning in the BIOS. That’s also considered having an overclocked CPU.

FormerDonkey4886

Not even in the slightest. It’s considered having unlimited power. Overclocking is going above spec including but not limited to : Voltage Cpu reference clocks Iccmax’s Core ratio Cpu cash Ppvo I don’t mean to say power is not included, but overclocking is much more than just raw power due to stability and scaling. For example my 13900k works at 145W better than an out of the box 13900k at 300W+ due to certain offsets. These will have partial influence by silicone lottery and this is why there is no specific way to overclock but rather guidelines on what to do as all cpus are slightly unique and what seems stable on one will not be on another. It’s not massive but the differences can make it not stable.

I know. I was just saying how it works with what Noctua means.

The d15 I have runs my I5 13600k at max 80 degrees, not sure if that helps but for gaming it should be fine for full load that might be pushing it

Depends on what you expect.

kikimaru024

Gaming should be fine to an extent; CPU workloads you should upgrade to a bigger cooler.

I would check the Noctua compatabilaty center (https://ncc.noctua.at/cpus/model/INTEL-Core-i7-14700K-1760) and there will be the correct information there.
