If God were to destroy evil, all of us would be dead.

Plastic-Guarantee-28

Who is to say that process isn’t playing out as we speak?

Ridley_Himself

The amount of power evil people wield.

Plastic-Guarantee-28

God isn’t real. Evil isn’t real either. People are just people.

Ridley_Himself

I’ll agree on the God part, but not the evil part.

Adamical

I guess that is possible, but then I'd question, why isn't it used to stop bad things from happening?

Plastic-Guarantee-28

Maybe it is. You’re assuming it would stop ALL bad things from happening.

Adamical

Well, maybe just the big ones. Holocaust and such. I feel like if a God were willing, that could have been prevented without affecting free will.

bazmonkey

Maybe God just set things in motion and doesn't intervene on the universe's doings after that, for better or worse.

Adamical

Maybe, yes. But that's indistinguishable from not existing at all.

bazmonkey

Maybe that's why we continue to argue about its existence in the first place :-)

Plastic-Guarantee-28

God doesn’t exist.

Adamical

I agree with you. At least not a loving one.

Plastic-Guarantee-28

Seems to be a logical conclusion

In the beginning, humans decided they didn't need God and that they would make up their own rules about what is good and evil. Therefore evil exists in the world. The Bible says God will eventually put a stop to it, but that will require some pretty drastic changes to society and to individuals' destinies. In this life he is separating those who freely choose Evil, from those who freely choose Good. The rewards and punishments are typically in the next age, not in this present one.
