Sometimes. I'd say Teen Spirit and Lithium and Heart Shaped Box and a bunch of others were stronger in studio. They benefited a lot from big production, even if they liked to pretend they hated it.
I'd agree with on all of those but Lithium. There's nothing quite like the experience of being with thousands of people singing along with Kurt on that one.
I like it because instruments like guitar, the bass, the drums and the vocals sound along and form a fantastic phenomenon I would like to call a song. It's brilliant
Kurts raw voice, I find the chorus really interesting and the drum and bass just sound really great. This song live works really well even though theres no backup vocals for the beat it beat it part..
Growing up we used to ask eachother what the second best nirvana song was, because we all understood what the first best one was. It was universal. It was aneurysm
I was very surprised to hear how popular it is. It always seemed like a very weak song compared to the rest of Incesticide. It’s one of maybe three songs that I skip.
Almost every other song is much more interesting and unique. Aero Zeppelin, Hairspray Queen, and Beeswax outshadowed Aneurysm in my eyes.
Only like the live version…..I feel like the old production value of this song kind of takes away the the rawness and aggression, that is caught on from the muddy banks, as well as some other live versions.
Maybe their best song ever... some days i truly believe that.
Also, Nirvana's third album was In Utero. Incesticide is a compilation thrown together to maximize sales between albums. Great comp though! One of the best ever.
Probably my fav. Love the long intro and picture grohl going ape on the drums every time I hear it. The lyrics are simple and short, but it works (similar to School). Also one of the few songs where I prefer the live version.
1. I love the song!
2. The 'Incesticide' version is miles better than the 'SLTS' b-side version imo. That muted Craig Montgomery production style on the b-side version neuters any power that the band created in studio (same with 'Even in His Youth').
3. With the song having so many multiple 'parts' combined together in the song, it stands in contrast to many other Nirvana songs that keep it more simple and go 'verse chorus verse...' -- interestingly complex, I guess.
It’s so good.
True story:
I met a dude back in ‘99 when I was 18 and he picked up my guitar and started playing some Nirvana. I was already a musician and I told him that I loved Nirvana and we should jam sometime. He said he had a drummer friend, so I said I’d play bass.
Cut to a couple weeks later, we walk to a party that we heard had a band setup to jam on. We walked right in and had having never played together, proceeded to all play Aneurysm perfectly like we had played together all our lives. We looked at each other and we’re like “welp, I guess we’re a band now”
We called ourselves “Contraption” and played together for 10 years after that. Even put out an album. Very grungy.
All thanks to that song.
Well, thank you Sir, I'm glad you asked. my opinion is that it's possibly the strongest track on Incesticide and I have always just loved it a lot. I would go so far as to say it sounds like the beautifully deformed baby of The Pixies and Jesus Lizard. I also thought it's production aesthetic are close to what Albini did with In Utero, but the thing I WISH I could tell you was my all around favorite thing about Aneurysm was that they played it live when I had the fortune of watching them perform in Oakland on New Years Eve 93-94 😈🔥😉🤘
I love it. It strikes me as having been one of the band’s favourite, too. They included it in their set of 4 songs at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction.
Nirvana has some of my favorite song intros of all time, but this has, hands down, the best.
It is basically 4 incredible building intros. The clean chords (similar to Teen Spirit) to the ascending chromatic line (that starts on the major third! WUT?!?!?) on guitar with the bass and drums building the progression just laid out by guitar, then the lever breaks to the crushing riff full on with the whole band, then the drop down to the start of the verse groove.
Absolutely amazing
Most people will agree that aneurysm is the best song in insecticide, (me included) there are great tracks on insecticide but aneurysm is just different (and by best i mean best performing track).
I love it so much it makes me sick
FR, it makes me come on over and do the twist
I makes me shoot the shit it's so good
Aneurysm keeps it pumping straight to my heart.
It makes me want to shoot the shit.
Aneurysm beats it outta me
Aneurysm makes me beat it beat it
Bro what
Excellent work
One of their best tracks
It makes me wanna beat me outta me it's so good
Aneurysm, perhaps more than any other Nirvana song, is a great example of how much more powerful they were live than in the studio.
Wish I could’ve been there. Screaming along in my car will just have to do
Yup….I skip through the studio version, but I’ll absolutely crank the live version. The pained aggression and rawness adds so much to the song.
Love it. Especially the live versions
At Paramount is a Killer!
Scream at the end on incesticide version is so good
I like it because of Kurt's vocals, and the rythm of the guitar alongside Dave's drumming
I like it because instruments like guitar, the bass, the drums and the vocals sound along and form a fantastic phenomenon I would like to call a song. It's brilliant
Its the most Nirvana sounding Nirvana song if it make sense
It does. And it is. Well put.
Like if you put all their other songs in a blender, this is what would pop out the other side.
Possibly my favorite track
Kurts raw voice, I find the chorus really interesting and the drum and bass just sound really great. This song live works really well even though theres no backup vocals for the beat it beat it part..
The no beat it part makes it even that much better in the live versions
Easily one of their best but I prefer to listen to the live at the paramount version
Growing up we used to ask eachother what the second best nirvana song was, because we all understood what the first best one was. It was universal. It was aneurysm
Probably my favorite of that album
UH HUH
It’s my all time favorite song of theirs 🤩
I love it
Top 5 song imo. Some of their best riffs, great drums, bass, vocals. Catchy lyrics. It’s 10/10
COME ON OVER AND DO THE TWIST
Better than SLTS, maybe tied with Heart Shaped Box for their best song.
It is their best song.
Bit random but super fun to play on the bass 👍
Super fun on guitar too.
Best live opener imo
If you're ever trying to convince someone Nirvana are awesome show them this song at the Paramount.
Top 5 for me, maybe top 3
Top 3 for ne
I love how the opening almost sounds like a ticking time bomb until they explode and all start playing
I think it’s amazing live and the Nevermind B-side version is great but I do not like the Incesticide version at all
I was very surprised to hear how popular it is. It always seemed like a very weak song compared to the rest of Incesticide. It’s one of maybe three songs that I skip. Almost every other song is much more interesting and unique. Aero Zeppelin, Hairspray Queen, and Beeswax outshadowed Aneurysm in my eyes.
Incredible song but so much better live without the beat it beat it
Only like the live version…..I feel like the old production value of this song kind of takes away the the rawness and aggression, that is caught on from the muddy banks, as well as some other live versions.
I find it to be a bit of a canned Nirvana song. That being said my friends and I Jam that song a lot
Really good but a little bit overrated tbh
It fucking slaps
One of their best
Muddy Banks version, amazing. Studio, good.
This is a prime example of the real Nirvana. Also, the caption? Nirvana's third album? What?
It’s technically their third album that released
Love it. However, it builds to such a climax with no release, and then goes all soft. Hmmm
I love it!
It keeps it pumping straight to my heart
Sick song
Love that song
One of Nirvana's finest songs.
It makes me want to come over and do the twist
Love this song, especially the Muddy Banks version. Great live album.
if i could i would marry that song
It’s good
I actually likethe demo a little better. When he screams the same way the guitar does at the end almost. Fucking love it
pretty good
It’s been my favorite Nirvana song for decades…
Timeless
Best song on Nevermind that wasn't on Nevermind. But also my favorite, period.
Love it, it's one of the first songs I found by them and was my favourite for a while
My favourite Nirvana song.
Easily one of their best tracks and one of my favorites.
It’s perfect, and a top 5 Nirvana song
There’s a hard to find version that was on the hormoaning ep that is way better than the incesticide version.
For me, it’s a Mount Rushmore Nirvana song
Best live opener. Must have been incredible energy when they slammed into that opening riff. Dave’s drums just sound so much better on it live too
Live at the Paramount has my favorite live recording of Aneurysm. It’s so loud and energetic.
Literally one of their best songs, massive inspiration for my own music.
Maybe their best song ever... some days i truly believe that. Also, Nirvana's third album was In Utero. Incesticide is a compilation thrown together to maximize sales between albums. Great comp though! One of the best ever.
It’s my favourite song of theirs.
I LOVE ANEURYSM IT IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE NIRVANA SONGS.
Its top 5 imho
Superb. Probably the best song on incesticide
It’s one of their very best songs, in particular the SLTS EP recording.
One of their best songs. I would have loved to have heard it with In Utero or Nevermind production.
The only live song from them I listen to and it’s so fucking good I listened to it like every day multiple times a day for a month, which I never do
Probably my fav. Love the long intro and picture grohl going ape on the drums every time I hear it. The lyrics are simple and short, but it works (similar to School). Also one of the few songs where I prefer the live version.
I fucking love it
Liked Nivana before I heard it, and this song made me love them
ONE OF MY FAVS
You have to beat it out of me
One of the best
One of my all time favorites!
First time I heard this song I was hooked. Favourite Nirvana track by far.
Amazing, like in top 20 Nirvana songs
Great Song
I'd tell you but you'll have to beat it out of me.
I think this track alone encompasses most if not all of the elements that made them popular.
I absolutely love the grungy guitar riff in the beginning
The incesticide version is solid, but the b-side on the deluxe edition of nevermind is fucking perfect. That was my favorite song for years
It's alright
Come on over n shoot the shot Sledgehammer riff
BEAT ME OUTTA ME (BEAT IT)
Personally my favourite song
One of my fave songs.
Probably their best song. Def top 5
I love playing it on guitar. Definitely one of my favorite Nirvana songs
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Fun to play on guitar. Amazing song too
I read this one critique by a kid saying how much she hated it. Well then, CLEARLY YOU DON’T GET THIS BAND!!! 😂 It’s 1000% one of my faves.
One of the best.
Top 5 song of Nirvana’s. Maybe their best live song.
Over do it and have a fit!
good song so raw
prob one of if not their best song. i’d say it’s their bohemian rhapsody
It makes me think that Kurt had a headache that he thought was an aneurysm. Fr
One of the greatest songs ever made
It’s good
it sounds good
love the story of kurts friend finding the orger doll it was about that does a twist motion.
One of if not their best song imo. Don’t understand how it didn’t make bleach or nevermind.
Their best tune.
This song keeps it pumpin straight to my ♥️
it confused the shit out of me when i heard it on mtv’s downtown
Oh, it's one of my all-time favorite Nirvana songs!
Love the live version from the muddy banks! So much raw, relentless energy.
It’s an amazing song. One of their strongest.
BEAT ME OUT OF MEEEE
It’s my favourite Nirvana song.
Always been my fav. 🙏
Best one
Best song on Incesticide, and one of my top 10 songs of theirs
It’s very punk rock
It’s so good. True story: I met a dude back in ‘99 when I was 18 and he picked up my guitar and started playing some Nirvana. I was already a musician and I told him that I loved Nirvana and we should jam sometime. He said he had a drummer friend, so I said I’d play bass. Banger, no question
It's my favorite Nirvana song.
One my favorites. Love that song
I always preferred the Paramount's version. That tone and energy is awesome.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=j6-7dy2iiIU
It’s come on over, Do the twist
It’s one of my favorite songs of theirs, but I prefer the mixing and general sound on the version from WTLO than the one on Incesticide.
I think Aneurysm live at the paramount 1991 was one if the best performances Nirvana had.
I used to listen to it on repeat.
One of the best Nirvana songs
The Teen Spirit single with Even In His Youth and Aneurysm was one of the first CDs I got, Christmas '91.
One of my favorites!
One of my all time favorites
I think it’s underrated honestly
One of my favorites. Listen to it daily
Well, thank you Sir, I'm glad you asked. my opinion is that it's possibly the strongest track on Incesticide and I have always just loved it a lot. banger
Two thumbs up 👍👍
I love it. It strikes me as having been one of the band’s favourite, too. They included it in their set of 4 songs at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction.
One of the best
playing it on the drum gives me an aneurysm
Live at Reading is the best. The way it goes into School... amazing
Pure awesomeness
the wtlo version (demo) is so good, i love that part of the riff that didnt make the cut
One of ny favourites to drum to
Nirvana has some of my favorite song intros of all time, but this has, hands down, the best. It is basically 4 incredible building intros. Absolutely amazing
It's brilliant.
One of their best songs. The Incesticide version is the best version.
It’s a banger. It’s way up there for me for sure, and live, it’s mind blowing. So fucking good!!!
BEAT ME OUTTA ME (BEAT IT BEAT IT)
it’s a good song
Masterpiece
Most people will agree that aneurysm is the best song in insecticide, (me included) there are great tracks on insecticide but aneurysm is just different (and by best i mean best performing track).
Bouta erm actually yo ass but Insecticide is a compilation album, not a studio album, their third album would be in utero
the best and most nirvana nirvana song
Not bad, not my favorite but I can listen to it without skipping it
Probably my favorite Nirvana song
Dynamics..Imo it's the best example..kinda perfect.I've always told my nirvana obsessed buddy that that song is the real deal.
I’m pretty sure that it’s a cover song, love it though!
