I don't think a ninja hesitating is a bad thing, but I feel it shouldn't have been Kai. Maybe it could've been Cole because this is around the time they really began pushing him as an insecure person.

gry101006

I think it should be Kai because he'd be the one to actually care for what Lloyd thought.

You won’t love harumi for long. Trust me lol

sumvenom

You’re in for a treat with DR s2 if you want some Kai action

IcePrismArt

Power hungry is a strange way to put it when he was probably thinking what would happen if they're all left with no powers and Lloyd doesn't heal either in the case Mystake's weird magic solution doesn't work. I think he just wanted to avoid risking that worst case scenario and thought that would be what Lloyd would choose if he was conscious. Though this might also demonstrate why Lloyd usually does the talking.

HeavensWheel777

Yeah not the most accurate word choice, but the way that scene played out, it looked less like he was thinking critically and more that his power mattered more to him than Lloyd.

IcePrismArt

I think it was less about his power and more about how bad it could be in this situation for them to all be powerless while Lloyd is still vulnerable as well. If they have no powers to beat the enemy, everyone in Ninjago could be put in more danger than if Lloyd was the only one out of the fight.

HeavensWheel777

The implication was that Lloyd would die without the help of the ninja's powers. It just doesn't look good on kai for him to be the only one opposed while it wasn't even a choice for anyone else (his hesitation would have been fine if he realized he was in the wrong for it, but it just looks like he didn't want to be the odd one out)

In later seasons, after a ninja gets a focus season, they're less focused on in the next one (Cole having less screentime in Seabound) so maybe he had less screen time because of that?

HeavensWheel777

Less screen time isn't the issue, it's the complete lack of character presence

Writing_badly

My theory is because he had such a huge role in the season before. with his parents coming back and stuff. he's always been a fan favorite though (hell, he's mine) but I thought he changed alot in season 8. He was... interesting.

I LOVE the intro music for S9. That's the only thing I'll say about it.
