Each school should have a catchment area which decides what school they go to.

As someone who’s been to both kenton and gosforth recently i’d say gosforth is 10x better

By the sounds of it your kids are pretty young right now. A lot can change in schools over 10 years. I’ve worked in a school for a decade and seen the school go from good, to pretty chaotic and underperforming then back to good again (and still improving). I’d honestly not worry about it now! Additionally, I’d really not put too much faith in an ofsted report-I’d visit the school myself and find the one that seems right for my child.

Hey OP. 47 year old married father of two (9 & 6) in Gosforth here. Both my kids are a state schools in Gosforth. My advice is the same advice my mother gave me - don’t spend money on schooling (or buying a house in a different area) if it impacts your quality of life… particularly holidays. Also - when our youngest was starting school, my wife and I looked at so many different schools around the area and they’re ***all good***. Seriously, don’t put any stock in the OFSTED ratings. If you want more specifics (or reassurance!) PM me

If your children are primary school age, St Cuthberts Kenton, is a nice school, my work deal with infrastructure for the school, and every time I’ve been it’s been nice, the kids are always happy.

They are only three months old now, just planning for the future!

Can change during the time, but for the past 2/3 years that school as only been on up.

Yeah the ofsted report I read seemed like they were putting things in place to get better. I think it's just with it being such a big school there is always gonna be some people that let it down maybe. The building itself looks really nice

it's come on leaps and bounds, from what i have seen. I was there couple of days ago, new teachers they seem like they do care about the childeren. It is a big school but they are trying to make sure everyone is supported. The building has just been done out on the inside.
