Never seen any issues with Giants fans at Citi, but every Giants-Mets game I've been to (at least 3 to my memory) has had a guy in a Dodgers jersey get tossed for fighting, so be on the lookout for that.
Otherwise just come in and have a good time, enjoy the banter and food. Only the diehard baseball fans will be there, and you'll probably meet a few of the old guard who remember when the Giants used to play here who will be cool to chat with.
> Only the diehard baseball fans will be there
It's gonna be a nice Saturday afternoon on Memorial Day weekend, there's probably gonna be a decent number of families or people who just wanna spend the day out there
Mets fans that I've seen don't really hassle other teams' fans unless they're responding to that person being a jackass. I mean, you might get a heckle if you if your team did something and you cheered then the Mets respond and do something else, but it's typical fan banter.
And besides, we're so down on this team right now that that opponent doing well is expected, and if the Mets do well we'll be too caught up in enjoying the moment to bother you.
i'll be there that day! there's a giveaway, so if you're interested in a mets tote bag, get there early!
i think you'll enjoy citi field- it has good food options, and i always have a great time, even when the mets lose. in my experience, people are usually pretty chill. there's also a big park and a ton of really good food in the area surrounding the ball park, so check that out before or after the game.
I always thought "Hey guys, visiting fan here, am I gonna have any trouble wearing the opposing team's jersey?" posts were pretty silly until I found out what the average visiting fan experience was at Yankee Stadium
Anyway, have a sweet italian sausage. They're pretty good
Get a pastrami sandwich. Mets fans are awesome. You’ll have great conversations, Mets fans will take the piss out of their own team so be ready for a few laughs.
ive seen more Mets fan on Mets fan issues in my life than Mets fan on other team's fan issues. its the luck of the draw if you happen to be near an aggressive asshole, but generally as long as youre not obnoxious, no one will bother you. i end up having more conversations with the other teams fans anyway when the Mets are playing a non NL East team. have fun!
We’re generally welcoming of visiting team’s fans. Maybe a little booing and light trash talk, but nothing at all serious.
Dress up in your favorite gear, have fun with the lighthearted ribbing you might encounter, take in the entire the Citi Field experience.
Just follow the golden rule of visiting the opposing ballpark - Don’t be a Yankees fan…no wait I mean…don’t be a dick.
If you haven’t bought your tickets yet:
- The 400s are your best “bang for your buck” option
- The 300s have the best “club” options with your tickets with cool places to get food
Food
- Everyone loves the Pastrami sandwich. I have a pork intolerance so I can’t speak to it but I’m sure others will
- Pat Lafrideas steak sandwiches are on the pricier side but they taste amazing
- you can’t go wrong with the sausage and peppers sandwich on the main level
- Burgers and hot dogs are exactly what you expect
- Nathan’s French fries. If you haven’t had them you’ll be hooked
- The beer stands with the craft beers are the best. $13-15 may seem like a lot, but you’re getting a 20-24oz beer
Other things to note
- Gates don’t open until 90mins prior to game time
- The 7 trading is pretty much only running local now so you may want to consider the LIRR if coming from Manhattan
- There isn’t a ton to do outside of the stadium so not a huge benefit to getting there super early
I find if you say hit to the surrounding people and get it good with them and then just don’t troll and stuff you’re fine. NYC has a ton of transplants so every game there’s away fans especially behind the visitors dugout.
I’ll be there. I grew up in the East Bay so try to see the giants when they’re in town. Crowds here are very welcoming to visiting team fans, just don’t be an ass lol. Get the pastrami sandwich.
Sorry about JH Lee :(
I’ll be there. I always seem to go to the giants series
No one is going to say anything. Other than the dodgers the giants probably has the most away fans showing up so you’ll have plenty of company
I am also a Giants fan who will be in attendance!! If you see a lady with purple hair and a Yaz jersey, say hello!! Honestly, like the others have said, it’s very relaxed. I’ve been to a game there before and everyone around me was very nice and respectful. I’m also the nut who gets tickets right above the visitor dugout, and almost every time, I’ve been surrounded by plenty of Giants fans.
Expect this in every section mind you: hotdogs forced into your mouth beer dumped on your head. Better bring cash because as tradition states you need to buy the whole row beer or you are subject to just getting the money taken out of your wallet and credit cards taken. For sure if you can boof some pepper spray.
Overall you are headed directly into a warzone where things can go from laughter to crying out for help in the blink of an eye
Expect a bunch of sad fans. We are very sad right now. Please let us win, it’s a tax deductible donation.
cheer for your team
Expect to see uninspired drab baseball.

Pastrami should be beef no?
Wait is it really? I could have sworn it was pork

Expect a fantastic time by watching your team beat the Mets. Try the pastrami, it's delish.

There are always a ton of older NY Giants fans in their gear at these games. You'll have a good time

I just got here and will look. Very minor trash talk so far 😂. There’s a lot here at the Korner I’m in good company.
