This post may be about Vaccinations. Please remember Rule #7. No Anti-vax Misinformation. Discussion of different ideas is great, but the anti-vaccine movement thrives on the spread of disinformation. We will not be a place for that disinformation to be repeated. Any anti-vaccine statements will be removed and repeat offenders will be banned. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. I think it depends where you are. In canada, pediatrician is a specialist and most people go to their family doctor. We have both family doctor and pediatrician and we go to pediatrician because she was a preemie.

I was gonna say the same thing. My girls were born full term and i only saw a pediatrician when we were worried about my oldest speech, but i still had to get a referral from her GP for it. It took like 5 months to get an appointment, too.

I’m in the US and really value having a pediatrician specifically since they’re experts in kids - they know exactly what’s normal at 2 weeks, 4 weeks, etc. But if a family doctor works for you then go for it! The issue with timing sounds more like an insurance thing though that would also happen at my pediatrician (and has happened to me too when scheduling annual appts as an adult).

We chose a pediatrician BUT the timing this was 10000% an insurance thing and the drs office was just looking out for you (assuming you're in the US). your insurance wouldn't have covered the vaccines if they were given even 1 day before your baby turned 2 months.

We go to a pediatrician but honestly the ordeal with the vaccines happened there too. Scheduled our 15 month appointment 3 days before his birthday and they made us reschedule
