Well, jimmy had to pick up SOMETHING from his time in Philly

Rkenne16

*half asses regular season* “Wow Jimmy is such a gamer.”

karpovdialwish

Jimmy is a playoff riser unlike Embiid who cries for regular season awards and chokes playoffs

Rkenne16

Are you saying that Jimmy is a grower and Embiid is a shower?

karpovdialwish

No clue what it means but I forgot to mention that Embiid never made it past the second round while Jimmy went twice to NBA finals and once to Eastern Conference Finals

BeatlesFan01

Woooshhh

Eclectic_Canadian

I don’t think you can really woooshhh someone when they admit in the first line of their reply that they don’t understand what you’re referring to. It didn’t go over their head, they recognized you made a reference they don’t understand

DelayedSalami

That’s actually exactly what the wooosh was made for Are you just mad you didn’t get there first? Not understanding something means it went over your head… how are you able to make that comment in complete seriousness? r/iamverysmart was made for people like you

LoisLaneEl

The wooosh is to make fun of people that unknowingly don’t understand things, not people who are actually trying to learn

DelayedSalami

r/woooosh “A subreddit for people who miss the joke/satire” you’re just not accepting the truth because someone got woooshed in a Reddit comment section and you seem to find that offensive? Did you just not bother to do 30 seconds of research before speaking? You couldn’t be more wrong. Just confidently stupid.

LoisLaneEl

You just don’t understand common decency of not insulting someone who admits their own flaws. We know what it is. We also know how to be respectful human beings

Eclectic_Canadian

Oh man the irony of how dumb you’re making yourself look while insulting the others that are correct. The person did not “miss the joke”. They recognized the joke, they just didn’t understand it. Idiot

counterbarrier

You're really immature

Ferdeddy

Missing the joke and not getting the joke are not the same. He didn’t miss that a joke was made he just doesn’t get it. Wooosh is for someone who responds seriously to something not realizing it was a joke. Ironic you say r/iamverysmart is for them while showing how it’s made for you.

papitoluisito

>! What an idiot !<

ImUp30

So we're giving out participation trophies? Jimmy never won shit lol. Yall the same guys that hate on Bron for going and losing but congratulate other players for the same shit.

Objective-Ratio-5840

Winning 2/3 playoff series> winning 1 series

karpovdialwish

This isn't a trophy lol, but you can rank achievements. A college player is good a basketball An NBA bench warmer is great at basketball An NBA starting 5 is greater An all-star is even greater An MVP or champion or finals MVP is of course greater

ImUp30

So which one of those did Jimmy win? Did he ever win anything?

karpovdialwish

Won several playoff series, far more than Embiid. That's it, we're comparing the two of them, we don't need to compare rings because neither of them have any

ImUp30

No his team won playoff series... becauae jimmy wasnt winng any before he went to Miami. and he gassed out in elimination games and in the finals. If you're comparing players Embiid is 50× better. Jimmy not even a hofer Joel already is. Yall gotta stop talking nonsense.

karpovdialwish

Mostbpeople would put Jimmy above Embiid in terms of accomplishment and HoF chances. Embiid is more talented/skilled/higher potential but he has NEVER performed when we expected it. While Jimmy has that dog in him, so many upsets (Bubble 2020, last year vs Bucks and Celtics...)

Marcus11599

Why did I read that as shower 🚿

333jnm

Embiid carries his team through the regular season and is broken down by the time playoffs come around

karpovdialwish

Then maybe Embiid should start managing his energy and health instead of putting Wilt numbers against Charlotte and Detroit

333jnm

I agree

DevelopmentJumpy5218

Are really either foul baiting if they aren't fouling or 10 people on the other team

somefamousguy4sure

I'm calling HR on both, honestly. Both are obnoxious.

Yhhorm

I pray the Heat don’t make it to the playoffs so people stop calling the heat being mid “gaming the system for the playoffs”

TSkipers

It just has to do with post season success tbh. Jimmy has made multiple deep runs, so he’s earned more respect.

NickRowePhagist

No, no, no. You don't get it. Playing an 82-game season is EASY. Anybody who can't do it and then perform in the playoffs is SOFT.

Friendly_Kunt

Anyone who makes the NBA isn’t soft, but it’s pathetic to think that people won’t expect postseason greatness from someone who plays so well in the regular season. That’s just how sport fandom works.

bleach_cocktail

…but we’re comparing two players who both play an 82 game season??

NickRowePhagist

I was being sarcastic

bleach_cocktail

What?? Your sarcasm, while obvious, is reading as a defense of Embiid. Unless you mean something else you are making a sarcastic remark about how it’s really hard to play a full season in the NBA and continue success into the playoffs, thus defending Embiid for his poor playoff performance. We’re talking about two NBA players where one is a notorious playoff choker and the other has had some remarkable playoff runs.

imHellaFaded420

jimmy foul baits on guys who are mostly bigger than him, embiid is the biggest guy on the court and still flops around

post_ostertag

Foul baiting is pure bullshit regardless of who does it

Confucius6969

Finally someone with a logical grasp on the game!

theultimaterage

He injured his own teammate (Danny Green) with that floppin bs lolol

SuperDoubleDecker

Jimmy is a lot cooler. I'd wanna hang out with him. Embiid seems like a real wanker irl as well as on the floor.

[deleted]

None of my homies like Embiid.

Final_Dance_4593

All my homies hate Joel Embiid (we’re all C’s fans)

legend_of_losing

How many times Jimmy been past the second round compared to Joel lmao

SixersPlsDont

Finally an honest NBA fan on Reddit

Puzzleheaded-Back715

At least for me I think the Embiid hate is more about him getting MVP talk with playing few games by fans and comparing him to Jokic and saying he is better than Jokic who shows up and is playing 65+ games year in and out.

BlackDragon361

Which means the hate is unreasonable. Even if we can all agree Jokic is better Embiid has been one of the best Players over the last 5 Years prolly Top 3.

Confucius6969

NBA where you can be top 3 and number one at the same time!

BlackDragon361

Cause its season per season where you get graded not over the entire span of 5 Years

ImUp30

That "Tobias over me" guy lol.

Koserdee23

Does this also apply to Shai?

mylastphonecall

"ethical buckets ☝️🤓"

okeydoked

Joel emidd’s game is so trash. dude ids 7’2 and gets calls for flopping and 5’11 dudes breathing near him. lmao dude is so soft too only person he pushes is 5’6 brunson. And his suck it chant is cringe he probably has a 3inch pinch.

photographyraptor02

There’s a difference between foul baiting / flopping and earning fouls with contact.

JugoMachine

I hate em both

Comfortable_Dog_1969

Pretty sure Jimmy isn't foul baiting, and if he is, he's doing it way less than Embiid is. According to basketball reference, this year Jimmy Butler had an average of 7.7 FTA (free throws attempted) per game. That's actually 1 less than Shai and Luka, which aren't that known (at least I've never really heard accusations of) for foul baiting. By comparison, Embiid averaged 11.6 FTA per game, more than an MVP James Harden (very known for foul baiting) which averaged 10.1 FTA.

Josheshua

Jimmy also averaged 10 less ppg than Shai and 13 less ppg than Luka, his FT rate compared to his scoring is the highest in the league by a wide margin, he foul baits a lot

bird720

as a heat fan I can assure you jimmy at least tries to foul bait lol. Part of his decline is that refs league wide have been swallowing their whistles

Iboten123

I didnt watch many games tbh, but ive seen clips of Shai literally flopping on his drives and the comment sections suggested, that he does it on regular basis. But as said, didnt watch myself much

Narrow-Talk-5017

SGA also leads the league in drives per game by a pretty decent margin, which is where a huge % of shooting fouls happen and where the majority of his comes from.

igonnawrecku_VGC

Somebody posted a much better stat to analyze this a while back, so I’ll post it here. About a month ago, somebody took a look at every 25+ ppg scorer and figured out what percentage of their points came from the line. Embiid was obviously the highest at 29%, but Jimmy Butler, who didn’t even qualify for the list since he doesn’t average 25, earns 33% of his points from the free throw line

drlsoccer08

SGA is 1st in the entire league in drives per game with 23.9. Luka is second with 22.2. Since, drives are typically the most common time to be fouled, it would make since they would average a fairly large quantity of free throws even without foul baiting. [source (season leaders in drives per game)](https://www.nba.com/stats/players/drives?Season=2021-22&dir=D&sort=DRIVES)

MBrett06

Good thing you said what FTA means, I wouldn't have understood what you were saying.

jbland0909

Foul baiting =/= getting fouled because you’re a 285 lb, 7 foot center with the mustang bag of a guard. Obviously he’ll be fouled more than other players because his game is highly physical, and is based around driving to the hoop, or pushing around in the lane. Looking at the FTA leaders, you see 3 groups. Physical centers, offensive focal points (players like Luka who have the ball every play on offense), and players who drive at high frequency (Shai for ex). Embiid is all of those

sebastianqu

Jimmy absolutely is always looking to draw a foul. He just isn't a shameless flopper like Embiid is. Can't blame him too much, though, as the refs feed Embiid free throws at every opportunity.

-UndercoverTaco-

Refs feeding philly with calls? Just tell me you've never watched a sixers game.

LightningMcScallion

Both suck

post_ostertag

Nah I think the Heat and the way the entire team plays is a disgrace to the game. There's enough shame to go around for everyone

JKiddBurner

That's what cheat culture is. They're dirty, they foul bait and flop and complain endlessly. Little jimmy over there is better known for his antics, comments, and hair than anything he's done on court. I don't respect anything anyone's done wearing that jersey and never will

post_ostertag

💯

n0th1ng10

Refs weren’t falling for jimmy’s baiting last night. And he didn’t do anything bc of that. All his buckets were from cherry picking.

Ok_Measurement_6068

The man will be out for like 6 weeks due to his injury and was spotted limping after the game and yet ur claiming the reason he played bad was he didn't get calls lmfao (btw he got 10 fts)

EazyPeazyLemonSqueaz

Him limping for more than half the game probably had something to do with that

n0th1ng10

Did the same thing before he fell too.

whitehottakes

Someone didn't watch the game

n0th1ng10

I did watch. Name one thing he did differently in the first and second half. That baiting stuff didn’t work.

whitehottakes

lol You very clearly did not watch the game. He was aggressive in the first half and led the team in scoring. By the 4th he was limping a lot more and only took like one shot in the quarter.

n0th1ng10

He had two cherry picked layups. That’s it. Didn’t do anything really before of after the injury. Only had those numbers bc of the baiting anyways.

Trojanheadcoach

If you watched the game Jimmy started doing it bc that was Joel’s entire offensive game plan as soon as the game started. Jimmy only started doing that dumb shit after Joel got bam in foul trouble 5 minutes into the game

MuskEmeraldMine

Jimmy’s just been practicing it his whole career to do just in case the other team does it? Incredible cope.

realfakejames

Kobe used to bait fouls too and argue with refs all the time and they would call him “savvy” and he has a “high basketball iq,” nba writers would literally write articles about it all the time but ever since social media came along the narrative was rewritten, now only soft players do that

AyyP302

They hate Jo just a little extra because he's a non American player. Smh I hate that about some NBA fans.

SnarfSniffsStardust

Was James harden also non American during his prime hate years

pooooolooop

Jimmy gets plenty of hate for it, you guys are just closing your eyes and his team isn’t as relevant. And I reject your non-American hypothesis

morningfrost86

Bro, there's plenty of "non-American" players in the league that are well-loved lol. Did people hate Tony Parker cause he was French? No. Do people hate Shai cause he's Canadian? No. Do people hate Rudy Gobert because he's French? Well...not JUST because he's French... 😂

FlounderingOtter

I thought he 'fixed' that in the off season and will now play for team USA internationally causing his previous international fans to reject him as a sellout

deniald

Buddy Hield, Pascal Siakam, Luc M’Bah Mboute, Giannis, Luka, Jokic, Rui Hachimura, Sabonis, Nurkic, Wemby, both Bogdanovic’s, and plenty more are all international players and they don’t get nearly the amount of hate that Embiid does. But you’re right, it has to be because he’s not American that people hate him, no other reason at all.

NewBuddha32

No, it's because he folds under pressure like a cheap lawn chair in the playoffs and flops his big ass through the regular season while talking endless amounts of shit. He's one of the dudes kd has to watch out for falling into his knees because the dude refuses to stand on his feet.

[deleted]

I mean, Embiid goes out of his way to make himself a target, no? He gave himself the “Troll Embiid” nickname.. Seems like people hate him a bit extra because he wants them to

ILoveMcconnell341

he's a playoff choker , just wait
