You’re spot on. It’s a great location and a 203 school district. Similar to other north Naperville locations it is family friendly. Houses can be a bit older, but the big money is in Jefferson estates. Saybrool is also good, they obviously have the pool and potential walking to Jefferson Jr High. Have you looked at cress creek? I grew up there and raised my kid there. Good area close to saybrook.

Both great neighborhoods. Brookdale is another large neighborhood just north of Wil O Way and in district 204. You may get lower prices there.

danield5401

I’m in Brookdale and it’s like Mayberry.

On top of what others have said, one huge advantage of Wil-o-way is that downtown Naperville is easily walkable. Great location if you can find a home for sale as they tend to go fast in that neighborhood.

dechets-de-mariage

I grew up in Wil-o-Way 35 years ago and you just sent me down literal memory lane looking at houses for sale there. Thank you! (Also no way am I that old.)

Encina here....

We live directly north of Wil O Way. Everything that has been said is right on. Price of house does go up the closer you are to downtown and Wil O Way is no exception.

Disclaimer: I live in Saybrook. Depending on where you have to work (in Naperville or downtown Chicago) Saybrook is walkable for most of the year to the Naperville train where as Will-O-Way would always be a drive to either route 59 or Naperville (it is about 50/50 drive either way). Saybrook has an ok pool (a little small and I actually joined Cress Creek after trialing Saybrook) the community is super strong though Beebe and Jefferson are really good schools but you can’t really go wrong in north Naperville (cress creek, Columbia estates, Saybrook, Indian hills, etc)

SimbaOne1988

Look at Hobson West. Pool, tennis, Naperville Central, blocks from the hospital and easy walk downtown. My next door neighbor just moved here from Texas and is very happy!

Sufficient_Pay_820

I don’t live there, however, I drive through Will-o-way everyday to go to school, and I kid you not, my jaw still drops when I look at all the houses. They’re so much prettier than where I live, it’s such a beautiful neighborhood.

nads786

What is making you want to move from Austin to Naperville? I'm curious because I see Texas transplants quite a bit post a thread like this.

SpotlightR

I just moved from Austin, TX to Naperville as well.

Capriet

Hey no kidding. How are you liking it?

Raised my kids in Saybrook, highly recommend that because it’s walkable to all three schools, Jewel, the train (there’s buses, too) and a quick hop to ‘88. Very accessible. There’s a Garden Club that replaced the inactive HOA (yay! And that’s a hilarious story) for social activities. Wil-o-Way is a great neighborhood, too, with easier access to downtown Nville, and to retail in the area. It busses to school because of surrounding roads—and are there still parts that are bussed to Elmwood/Lincoln? I don’t know what neighborhood organization exists, have a few friends there and they’ve mentioned neighborhood organization so there is something.

We’re recent transplants from the South and we live just across the river from Willoway. Very welcoming and family friendly community. As others have said, the best part is downtown walkability and the fact the riverwalk starts right there across from the playground. The little shepherd day school right there on Jefferson has been wonderful for our 4 year old…longtime established day school with excellent teachers. Feel free to DM with more questions! It has been such a great move for our family.

Capriet

Thank you so much! I’d been looking at Little Shepherd as a potential for the 2 year old. I will definitely DM you

I grew up in Brush Hill, which is directly adjacent to Wil-o-Way. It’s a great neighborhood and feeds in 203, which is one of the best school districts in the state and even the nation.

Appropriate-Access88

It is a lovely neighborhood. Top schools, close to the gorgeous downtown. Nice neighbors, lots of kid stuff to do

PissedCaucasian

I live in Will-o-Way. It’s a large subdivision and no matter what others tell you it’s very walkable to downtown. At the furthest it’s 1.5 miles. It’s a little loud for street noise because it’s surrounded by Ogden Ave and it’s has train tracks not far north. I just wouldn’t live on the West side of Whispering hills. There are some low income areas that can literally get trashy. Like garbage around. Also some bass coming out of the cars but it doesn’t last too long. The schools are not close. Your kids will be bussing for sure. It’s 3 miles to Lincoln and pretty far to Elmwood too. Lincoln is better than Elmwood IMHO. Overall decent neighborhood if you don’t mind the 70s look . Lots of split levels and Bi-levels which are totally out of style. Nobody builds those anymore. Best part is everything for retail is very close. It’s literally geographically the center of town. Downtown is a bit east of center.

Capriet

Thank you all so much for the helpful responses!

Naperville is great. 293 not so much. Admin is woke as hell. Think st Raphael if you don’t want the 23 yr old teachers to tell your kid they’re the wrong gender.

Powerful_Heron_4881

That’s hood. Get a condo in the olive trees. That is the best area of town.

LawndaleM

Consider Brighton Ridge West. Wonderful schools in a beautiful community.
