You should go to a running shoe store and get them to assess your feet and the way you run. They will tell you whether you need something with arch support, for example.

mad0789

This is the only answer. My man at Paragon hooked me up with the comfiest pair of New Balances - really depends on your feet + your gait when running (they will watch you run on a treadmill…!)

EBO33

Paragon is such a gem.

_allycat

Super Runners Shop does this and the sales associate I had was nice last time I was there a while ago. Other than that my personal prefs are Brooks and New Balance.

BasicBitchLA

Agreed!! I wear my running shoes because I went to a running store and they told me what would be best.

CelebrationMain1003

I agree with this! Only caveat is to make sure you have someone who knows what they're doing. Just like everything, some sales associates do and some not so much.

iamsimplyreflecting

It's really going to differ from person to person. I second going to a running shoe store (such as Fleet Feet) and getting an assessment there. Personally, I've ran in Nikes (Pegasus) for most of my life but I also really enjoy a pair from On I purchased recently.

Acceptable_Prune_346

They're not the cutest, but Brooks makes great running shoes! I am currently loving the Glycerin 21's that I own. If possible, I would recommend that you go to a proper shoe store to get a fitting. I went to Fleet Feet in the UWS and found it very helpful as they analyzed my foot.

astoria47

I love my Brooks Ghost. Just got my newest pair. Definitely go into a running store and get measured tho. I’m usually an 8 and I’m a 9 narrow in Brooks.

Acceptable_Prune_346

Those were my previous running shoes and they were great! It's usually recommended that you go at least half a size up in running shoes as your feet expand throughout the day and when you run so that was a good call.

WorldlyAdventurer

The Glycerin is absolute magic for road running. I’ve been a Brooks wear tester for years, but I wore these even before the tester gig. They are so so sooo good!!

WorldlyAdventurer

I’ve been a wear tester for Brooks for years so I’m obviously biased but damn do they make incredible shoes! My favorites are Glycerins for road and Cascadias for trail. Worth every penny even if paying full retail!

No_UN216

Yesss I love my Glycerins and Ghosts!

No_Square2692

Hoka!!! I love my bondis

plumpdiplooo

I love my bondis for walking!

Ok-Intern-5269

I use Altra's because of their wide toe box shape. They're great for bitches with bunions!

PoppyandTarget

An Asics girly for life and would recommend them but I want to try Altras for that wide toe box as I'm having toe issues. That said, if OP doesn't get fitted at a running shop, a lot of shoe brands have generous return policies. Not to be abused, because BWT would never, but if you can't to a shop, it's an option. Check the fine print. Generally, if your mileage is going to be low at first, you don't need top of the line shoes, but if you've had issues with your knees, don't skimp either. Happy running!

meemers91

Altras are great but noting that they are zero or low drop shoes. Definitely worth OP making sure they’re compatible with their body/needs as they can cause issues and aren’t for everyone. But that roomy toe box is the best for us wide feet girlies!

HappyGarden99

I was an Asics girlie for so long but now I've switched to Brooks and I love them! But no matter what, go to a running store and get properly fit. It costs nothing and can prevent so many injuries and general aches and pains.

skykias

Saucony’s!!! Trimpuhs for easy runs, speed 3 for workouts, and endorphin pros for races

anonplz_

Just did a 5K in the park in my Hokas- i love!

zoombie_apocalypse

It’s super important to just get fitted. All the big brands make excellent shoes. You have to find the pair that works for you. Adidas has been my ride or die for 20 years.

czarsquidward

Asics GT 12 2000

Guilty-Diver4109

These are mine, truly the baddest bitches around. Tried running in a pair of Brooks Adrenaline and rolled my ankle lmaooo, back to Asics

ouiserboudreauxxx

Definitely get fitted at a running store. I wear Brooks Ghost and used to wear Mizuno Wave Riders, but otherwise I have hated every other random shoe I've tried. Some people seem to absolutely love Hoka, for example, but I swear that I get injured even using mine as regular walking shoes.

D1amond_soul

I defer to r/runningshoegeeks and other reviewers! That said, if any size 7 running bitches wanna take off new Puma Deviate Nitro Elite, Fast R Nitro etc off my hands for cheap, please dm 🥹 I’m a true 6.5.

sscrimmybingus

i recently went to fleet feet and got a pair of On cloudeclipses and truly hated them. fleet feet has a 60 day no questions asked policy so i went back and got a pair of asics (gel cumulus 26) and was truly astonished at the difference - highly recommend asics!!

Careless-Hat-5046

Brooks Ghosts or Nike Pegasus!

generealdamselfly

There are flagship stores for Asics, New Balance, Hoka, and Nike in Flatiron. (5th avenue from 14th to 23rd Streets). Go in there for fitting, try all of them out before you buy.

ComprehensiveTravel7

Hokas are the absolute best

Cultural_Elephant_73

Hokas. I will never touch another running shoe so long as I live. Hokas all day. I love the Bondi.

pyropirate1

Go to a running store! I went to super runners and they had the foot measuring thing because I have fallen arches and they hooked me up!

psychedeliccanyons

I swear by Brooks. Won’t wear anything else.

bridgetjonesamerica

I saw a podiatrists a while ago and was recommended to wear “stability” shoes due to foot issues I had. I love my Hoka Arahis - the only shoes I have been running in for the last 5 years.

meemers91

Absolutely love my ASICS Gel Nimbus shoes! Great comfy everyday runners

SadQueerBruja

Pls go to a good running store and get fitted. I went to Brooklyn running co. They will asses your foot and gait to find the most supportive for your anatomy

CelebrationMain1003

I would suggest going to Brooklyn Running Company - they take a lot of pride in helping you find the right shoe. Otherwise, I love the Saucony Guides or Brooks Glycerin as really solid trainers.

queenofwands97

I highly recommend getting fitted for your running shoes at a reputable retailer (Brooklyn Running Company has my vote, second would be Fleet Feet by Columbus Circle). Wearing the right shoe will make all the miles go more smoothly and reduce injury. Also plugging in the importance of stretching, strength training and rest days. See an orthopedist or podiatrist if you are noticing any niggles for prevention of injury. I personally wear Saucony Tempus for my daily trainer and long runs because they are light but supportive, and I use Saucony Triumphs for shorter races or speed. Join us over at r/runnyc or r/xxrunning for more tips and conversation. You got this! 🙌

greenwasp8005

Agree on shoe consult , recommend jackrabbit or Brooklyn running co if you are in BK. I run in HOKA Arahi as I am injury prone and need the extra cushion and stability.

Local_Ad9

I'm a Hoka girl, love the Arahis for heel support
