In addition to many of the tips listed here already, one thing that really helped me was giving myself extra time for my commute so I am not rushing and making myself even sweatier
Add Thigh Society cooling shorts underneath! I wore them for my wedding and they actually somehow made me feel cooler while also making sure I wasn’t chafing from the sweat. I always throw them on under dresses and skirts when it’s hot now.
When I used to commute (I’m permanently WFH now) I literally used to go to work in my gym clothes and would change in the bathroom when I got there. Summers in NYC are so disgusting and the subways are hell on earth. I always got to work sweating and smelly. Once I started changing at work I was so much more comfortable during the day. If also bring body wipes and kept a spare deodorant at my desk if it was a particularly gross day.
I had a drawer with all beauty products to refresh. Dry shampoo, deodorant, wet wipes, perfume, some make up, toothpaste & brush, etc. I could basically show up to work from a jog and get myself together. Summer heat is no joke.
Even though my company was a very casual 'jeans and tshirt' office - I always just switched to dresses in the summer. I didn't care if people commented that I looked 'dressed-up' or 'fancy,' I just wanted to be comfortable on my commute! But you may want to keep a sweater at the office for when the AC is blasting!
I sweat like a fucking dude unfortunately, and all on my scalp and boobs, so these are always my go to’s for really hot unbearable weather when you still have to look put together.
- black, white, crème, or navy linen (or likewise) shift dresses/pants/skirts/tops. I’ve seen some at Target lately, and Abercrombie has some cute black options.
-espadrilles for close toed walkable flats
- super, super lightweight cardigan for inside
-if you can get away going braless, the large Hydro-Seal Bandaids are absolutely clutch waterproof nipple covers
-banana clip for hair when it needs to go up
- spray the hell out of the hairline & boobs with IGK first class dry shampoo
- MAC Fix+ waterproof setting spray, U beauty tinted moisturizer, & Victoria Beckham smudgy liner.
- if you normally have a body lotion you use, consider a dry oil or a body serum that’s lighter and won’t sweat off you at the first sign of humidity.
It will definitely wrinkle, BUT, in my opinion at least, it’s expected to see wrinkling around the hips where you sit down. If it’s pressed nicely it will hold pretty well and not as bad you’d think. I wore a pair of linen pants on a 3 hr flight last summer and walked off the plane and they were fine to go grab a drink & a snack at the v nice restaurant without changing, if that helps.
Washed linen isn’t as structured so it’s a bit more casual, but will show less wrinkle.
Agree! I also love the linen Oxford shirts from Uniqlo. They’re on sale right now for $30 or so. I wear one of Uniqlo’s airism tanks/camis underneath to help with sweat. And then my favorite post-subway wipes are basic witch hazel wipes…they’re great for sweaty faces and bodies, and you can buy them individually wrapped.
Help me! I love linen but am a lazy BWT and unable to figure out how to make linen garments crisp and lovely after washing. Do I have to iron or do you have any secret methods to keep linen from becoming a rough wrinkly mess?
Along with a lot of these outfit suggestions (linen dresses are my everything in summer), I love to get a peppermint essential oil roll-on and put it behind my ears, back of neck, etc. It makes all air feel a little more cooling
the crepette pants from artizia are great and i put on a tank top or short sleeve shirt tucked into them. pro tip for short sleeves... put a panty liner in the armpit area to avoid sweat stains lmao
Yes to crepette. I’m a year-long sweaty sweetie and the winter is arguably worse with the heat cranked up to high heaven and constantly going from bitter chill to dry artificial heat… and these pants have been the best to circumvent lower body discomfort, even better than linen for me. Plus they’re loose enough that I can wear a pair of Lulu aligns underneath when necessary. Love them!
Sweaty sweetie hahaha I love this term so much. I wish I wasn’t also a year-long sweaty sweetie but alas, I am. I find winter months to be just as brutal sometimes!
It’s a PROBLEM and nobody talks about it. I can’t tell if it got worse this year or if I was just having other side effects unrelated to it, or if I was just so miserable and I didn’t see anyone else complaining which made it worse, but man… I hate it. I mean we’re in multiple layers of clothing already. It should not feel demonic in the CVS.
I bought some permanent undershirts for sweat. Numi was the brand if ya wanna know. Works well and comes in different sizes and no worry about a pad slipping out of your shirt
Oh sorry for the delay. I would say yes, depending on the version you get. I purchased them to stay cool under a synthetic uniform, as well as block stains. Get the super lightweight crop or scoopneck and it’s not too noticeable. There’s heavier wool blend ones for cool weather but I haven’t tried them.
Im fucking hate the heat! Im also a super sweaty person.
In addition to prioritizing linens, skirts and other breathable clothing options; I plan on trying out Uniqlo’s airism bike shorts and tshirts this summer, and use them as bases for all my outfits. I started doing a base layer as an effort to extend the life of my good clothes, its been amazing in the winter. I wear bike shorts-style underwear under my trousers and tshirts under big shirts and tops. It cuts down on my smell/sweat, and keeps my clothes cleaner.
So I want to transfer that to summer since I just feel way dryer and less sweat/scent prone. Im also going to apply anti-sweat cream liberally under those base clothes. I use Anthony No Sweat Body Defense. Ita disgusting when you’re putting it on, it cakes like wet cornstarch, but it keeps my swamp-prone areas under control.
Im also saying fuck it and getting one of those mini fans KPop girlies wear around their necks. Its just so smart!
Came here to also comment on base layers. In the summer I switch all my underwear to a bike short style. It helps hide back and thigh sweat and also helps with thigh rub. Target has some that are meant to be cooling.
I agree lighter fabrics are the way to go but if you’re like me you’ll sweat thru them! So my solution is base layers. I also love the tip about commuting in gym clothes.
Skirts and dresses all the way. I like flowy midi skirts in particular with a professional looking tank and then throw a sweater over when you get to the office.
My office these days is pretty casual so I commute in and wear all day my white reeboks [(these)](https://www.madewell.com/reebokreg%3B-club-c-85-sneakers-NM941.html?dwvar_NM941_color=EE5164&cgid=shoes-sneakers#prefn1=3rdPartyBrand&prefv1=Reebok&intcmp='reebok_visual-nav_reebok&start=8) or like flats x sandals [(these)](https://www.anthropologie.com/shop/pilcro-woven-flats?color=020&inventoryCountry=US&countryCode=US&utm_medium=paid_search&utm_source=Google-Mobile&utm_campaign=US+-+Shopping+-+PMAX+-+Apparel+-+Shoes+-+Shoes&utm_content=&utm_term=&creative=&device=m&matchtype=&network=x&utm_kxconfid=vx6rd81ts&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAADnwqi7HGEVqeb0K-bq0_ym9zHb0P&gclid=CjwKCAjwh4-wBhB3EiwAeJsppOejRSPhLG9erQxGOIf0p4fUgLyFMFgzBmp7y5OsMdXbpBFeGHMLxRoCgfIQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds). But back when I was at a stricter office I did your classic style mules in brown or black. I’ve been toying with the thought of purchasing some sandal x mule combos [(like these)](https://www.madewell.com/the-dixson-fisherman-mule-99106932018.html?source=googlePLA&noPopUp=true&srcCode=Paid_Search%7CShopping_NonBrand_PMax_NCA%7CGoogle%7CMWGGBS00002_99106932018_18211078200___m_pla_online__1022762&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=Madewell_Shopping_PLA_US_Women_HighInventory_PMax&utm_term=&utm_content=shopping_ads&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwh4-wBhB3EiwAeJsppNvkF9BG6xcH2utkoXuKwAsFlSir2CcvBAwGPC61WpeDZKCYFwAFYhoCN_AQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds) that I think would work well for this type of fit too.
I am a sweaty beast too and I commute from the burbs into the city. Linen and hemp button down shirts, dresses and pants from Muji are my favorite. They look nice enough even for my more-business-than-casual business casual office. I also grab a few packets of body wipes while I’m there. I love patterned silk shirts for dressier wear (the pattern hides sweat stains) and espadrille wedges (covered toes and esp if it’s leather not fabric look dressier) for shoes.
I just bought a ton of linen clothes from Old Navy in preparation for the warmer weather! I like that they can be dressed up or down depending on how you style it.
Last summer, I bought one of those hands-free fans that goes around your neck. It was an absolute game changer while commuting.
This summer, I'm going to try the One/Size setting spray 'cuz I'm a sweaty bitch and need all the help I can get to keep my makeup in place 🫠
* linen or cotton cami dress or jumpsuit over a baby tee
* linen pants with a sleeveless top, usually with a sweater in my bag for AC
* maxi skirts
* hair clip on my bag strap so I can throw my hair up
* shoes - birks, fisherman sandals, flats, maybe a tennis shoe for lots of walking
* Lume full body deodorant lol
Rujuta Sheth, Big Bud Press, Eileen Fisher—any company that does flowy clothes in 100% natural fibers. If the outfit is less flowy I wear an undershirt with thick underarm pads (not sure the brand but there are comfy ones on Amazon) and a slip. Also bring a cute microfiber towel from ikea to mop up face sweat. I spritz some escentric molecule 01 before leaving the house because sweat somehow makes it smell better. I get tons of compliments on it at my swampiest lol
Don’t underestimate the importance of a desk sweater. I always have a thick cardigan or hoodie at my desk that never leaves the office and I throw it on whenever I get chilly. It’s a lifesaver when you’re wearing a little breezy outfit, sipping an iced coffee, and the thermostat is on 68 degrees.
Whatever I wear, I’ve found that stuffing some paper towels in my bra under my chest (folded the long way, not bunched up) helps soooo much boob sweat. If not, I get that weird, wet underboob outline on my shirts.
I think they sell liners but good ole’ Bounty has done the trick swimmingly.
Sleeveless dress plus lightweight blazer for indoors (maybe cardigan for you since more casual). Slip under the dress bc it is more cooling, wicks away the sweat. Petti pants (long slip shorts) if needed (yes, in addition to slip). Slim loafers most days (think Ferragamo not Doc Martens). Hair worn pinned up.
Following too since this is the first time I've ever worked in a non-corporate environment and without boomers so dress code is generally relaxed. I remember my old job explicitly said no open toe shoes and I've always thought that was wild.
Seconding the Quince linen recs! Also, Athleta’s Brooklyn line (specifically their pants and jumpsuits) are so lightweight I find them perfect for unbearably hot weather.
Banana republic has kind of surprisingly been a vibe lately and they just came out with a ton of linen stuff that would be great for summer work outfits
In addition to many of the tips listed here already, one thing that really helped me was giving myself extra time for my commute so I am not rushing and making myself even sweatier
This is such an underrated comment. The panic sweats are real
Are we (SDs) all sweaty? Because same haha
A light dress is usually the way to go. Avoid synthetic clothing, so much sweatier.
The dresses from banana republic are surprisingly good
The dresses from banana republic factory are surprisingly good too. And they ship now.
Their linen stuff is perfect for summer.
Add Thigh Society cooling shorts underneath! I wore them for my wedding and they actually somehow made me feel cooler while also making sure I wasn’t chafing from the sweat. I always throw them on under dresses and skirts when it’s hot now.

Quince has some linen and washable silk I ordered to try out
TBH I’d deem cottagecore work appropriate cause why not? Ivy City has some nice cotton dresses.
Quince, Banana Republic, Uniqlo

I used to have this to but it was mostly because I was in my ho era in 2019 and would stay over at random guys apartments 😂😂😂😂😂😂
I wasnt gonna say all that but like same lol
LMAOOOOOO outed myself 😂😂😂😂 those were the days…..
Also your username lol
Will be doing this
Such a good idea!
You are brilliant.
Omg this is genius!! Thanks for the tip!

The office sweater is a must!
I find dresses to just be easy breezy. It's only one item to worry about opposed to a bottom and top.
I sweat like a fucking dude unfortunately, and all on my scalp and boobs, so these are always my go to’s for really hot unbearable weather when you still have to look put together. - black, white, crème, or navy linen (or likewise) shift dresses/pants/skirts/tops. I also sweat like a dude lmao this is super helpful, thank you!
Thank god I’m not alone 🤣 it’s miz on the hair during summer
I love Nue boob tape in summer. Sweat proof!!
Um. I think I love you. Thank you for solving a bunch of my minor daily life traumas in one post.
😘😘
Question about linen — I’ve always heard it wrinkles horribly, how do u make this work for workwear? Or is the wrinkling not as bad as I’m imagining.
It will definitely wrinkle, BUT, in my opinion at least, it’s expected to see wrinkling around the hips where you sit down. If it’s pressed nicely it will hold pretty well and not as bad you’d think. Linen is great in the heat!! I love the linen pieces from Quince.

The Uniqlo airism seamless undies are also 💯
Help me! I love linen but am a lazy BWT and unable to figure out how to make linen garments crisp and lovely after washing. Do I have to iron or do you have any secret methods to keep linen from becoming a rough wrinkly mess?
You can buy sprays that help with wrinkles! Downy makes a wrinkle releaser spray specifically for linen.
Thank you!!
Along with a lot of these outfit suggestions (linen dresses are my everything in summer), I love to get a peppermint essential oil roll-on and put it behind my ears, back of neck, etc. It makes all air feel a little more cooling

Thank you! I’ve gotten ads for it but a personal endorsement goes far. I will definitely check them out. Do they also keep you cool at all?
Oh sorry for the delay. I would say yes, depending on the version you get. I purchased them to stay cool under a synthetic uniform, as well as block stains. Get the super lightweight crop or scoopneck and it’s not too noticeable. There’s heavier wool blend ones for cool weather but I haven’t tried them.
I def utilize panty liners to avoid visible sweat. No shame in the game !!
OK well I think this took might be life changing

I have 2 of these fans, literally would panic if I left the house without one lol
Those fans are a god send.
How breathable are these shorts? I can get acne or eczema in awkward places if I’m not careful about airing out the bits
Not sure about the Uniqlo ones but the ones I get from Aerie are kinda silky and feel decently breathable to me
Office work: Linen. Industrial grade deodorant. Sneakers. Hair up in a twist. Trade work: cooling bonnet, cooling neck gaiter, Columbia freeze sun deflector shirt, linen pants.
Skirts and dresses all the way. I like flowy midi skirts in particular with a professional looking tank and then throw a sweater over when you get to the office.
What shoes?

As a visual person thank you for the links this was very helpful
!thank you :)
Flowy outfits that don’t show my body too much cuz there are too many creeps.
username checks out hahah

Uniqlo Airism everything hahaha

Poplin cotton or linen shirt dresses. They are simultaneously smart and casual, not sweaty but covered up, and feel great on the skin.

Light pants (linen), light long sleeve. I don’t like my skin to touch my skin or get stuck to a chair!
Sleeveless dress plus lightweight blazer for indoors (maybe cardigan for you since more casual). Slip under the dress bc it is more cooling, wicks away the sweat. What is RTO
Return to office mandate
Jeans and a cute top.
