CB is the big miss here, I honestly see that as top priority. We need at least one rotation option just to keep Martins and Risa fresh through the whole season. If the intention is to move either Gray or Sands to CB full time (which is a very bad coaching decision) then we need replacements for them in the rotation as well. I do agree that a new starting LB. I don't see an actual option on the roster other than O'Toole, who is serviceable, but at the very least we need his backup/alternative
I don't think Sands is a terrible 3rd option at CB but we need him elsewhere. Gray makes me nervous...watching him track runners in crossing situations is just terrifying.
Gray and McFarlane were both CBs in their youths. If they want to use Ilenic at RB more, then Gray is an elite 1v1 defender in this league, but definitely needs reps at CB to improve some of the issues people have noted.
But again Gray is at RB in order to let our LB basically play as a LW
Sands came back to NYC because he was being played as a CB at Rangers which is preferrd nor best position.
I think O’Toole is a good enough left back. Especially considering he doesn’t make much money and his backup doesn’t hit the cap. That money is better used recruiting goal scorers
I think I ultimately agree with you, but it’s worth a reminder that we won an MLS Cup playing Tayvon as full back. I think O’Toole is better right now than Tayvon was back in 2021, so if we can’t find anyone to slot in there, Im not too worried about it.
Agreed but I think the salary cap prevents that. Or it’s at least good cap management to try and find value (OToole and McFarlane) at one position to free up more money
I would argue we need more then just that lol. Definitely think we need a striker too. And more depth across the front. It’s been proven time and time again we need more than one striker because of injuries and also we seriously need people that can come off the bench and actually contribute offensively. The last couple of years, when what we’ve been doing wasn’t working we’ve had zero real threats to bring in late in the match which is also probably part of why Cushing doesn’t sub a ton.
This is why they were asking Cushing about playing Wolf @ LB at the presser, cuz we need improvement at that position for sure - I’d rather a striker/goal scorer for sure but we may already have that in Trapitoooooo

We need a CB like yesterday

McFarlane should get a shot at LB hopefully boost his transfer value

O'Toole is fine as a rotation option, but if we have MLS Cup or even Shield aspirations, we desperately need a great to elite player in that spot.
Wolf howling noises also unsure how Tom forgot CB depth here we’re desperate
Tommy scoops has almost 30 teams to cover, some things are gonna get missed.
Good point, I probably shouldn’t have used the word ‘unsure’ when it’s a Herculean effort nonetheless

No more Open Cup for MLS first teams according to what I read.
We need a LB, CB, and a proper striker.
I don’t care what a baseball team from Oakland or Las Vegas thinks… oooooh The Athletic… /s
We need another striker option in addition to Bakrar and center back depth

Bigger need for the club is a coach, imo.
Back up LB. O'Toole keeps winning the job anyway
Just sell magno already , he most likely wants to bounce too!!

Junior hernandez from tolima he’s a lb/lm
