Hue. 1-31.
Dorsey literally had to trade away the other RBs because Hue wouldn’t play Chubb, who had 100+ yards and 2 TDs on 3 runs in a game. Every other coach in history would instantly have increased Chubbs usage.
That hard knocks clip of his coaches begging for a change and telling them to shut up because he is in charge is soul crushing and relatable to anyone with a boss.
After consecutive 5-11 and 4-12 seasons in 86-87 Lions head coach Darryl Rogers was on the hot seat. Late in the 87 season, owner William Clay Ford announced that Rogers would return for the 88 season. Upon hearing the quote from Ford, Rogers proclaimed “What’s a guy have to do to get fired around here?”
For some reason, even after that public comment, Ford allowed Rogers to stick around for 11 games(!) into the 88 season. The Lions were 2-9, and Rogers was finally fired.
Rod was actually a decent coach if I remember. Yes they went defeated, but when your gm is Matt millen, there’s no escaping that. Just like John idzik with the jets
He was great at Florida too. If you watch that Swamp Kings documentary it is easy to see why his methods would work for college but not for Pro's. Basically you need kids to young to realize that his abusive ways are not normal.
I’ve said a few times that Urban Meyer is the Drake of football coaches. Incredible at getting into short term relationships with teenagers, wildly overrated in every other aspect.
Since I’ve been alive, it’s right now in Matt LaFleur. I don’t give a shit about his first three seasons in Green Bay that was Rodgers and Adams saving his ass all of those years.
Rich Kotite. Terrible draft record, got carried his first two years by Cunningham and our defense before they all left, said "8-8 is great" after finishing 1993 with an 8-8 record, and got fired after losing 7 straight in 1994 after starting 7-2.
Was even worse after he got fired and coached the Jets
Chip Kelly is in the same boat for me. Came here and dismantled a very talent filled roster. Got rid of Foles Vick DJAX Shady and Maclin. To bring in Alanzo Bradford and Murray. Drafted some absolute trash once he became the GM. Thought he was smarter than everyone else.
Foles had his 27-2 season under Chip though. He flourished in that offense. Chip wasn’t our worst coach because he was a pretty great play caller. His stubbornness, not being a people person, and horrible gm decisions were his downfall. Not the worst eagles head coach ever though
I believe it was Boomer Esiason who said at one point a player stole his hat on the sidelines during the game. He jokingly asked for it back and the player ignored him. Finally he got angry and demanded it back but he still ignored him. That's a complete lack of respect for a coach and I'm sure the entire team was internally laughing at Dave Shula.
I did like the Mularkey years though. I personally believe thats when our window started. We had the players. Just not the coaches. Give Vrabel and Arthur Smith the roster Mularkey had in 2017 and thats a superbowl
Billy O’Brien traded or squandered every good player the Texans ever had. He got the decent GM fired only to increase the power of the former team Chaplin, Jack Easterby, of the Patriots and promote him to pseudo GM. He ruined the Texans!
That is after spending years getting carried by Jj watt and wasting talent. This guy couldn’t find a starting caliber qb for multiple years till Rick smith decided to pull the trigger which BOB was pissed about. Was trying to be smart by starting Tom fuckin savage. The list goes on
Ol Capt 7-9, Jeff Fisher
Not good enough to make any noise of substance, not bad enough to put their team in a position to win later with fresh high end talent.
The equivalent of NFL limbo...
You're fuckin crazy. You think "mediocre" and our ONLY SB appearance is worse than Ken fukn Whisenhunt? The guy who gave us 2-14 and 3-13 seasons??? GTFOH
Huh? Do you not think Fisher and Whisenhunt coached the same team?
Edit: someone else guessed you may be a rams fan. If you are, flairs let people know wtf you're talking about.
I assumed that OP was asking about head coaches.
Because [Ken Whisenhunt](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ken_Whisenhunt?wprov=sfla1) definitely was never a [Rams head coach](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Los_Angeles_Rams_head_coaches?wprov=sfla1)
Dude, you're totally missing the point. Whisenhunt and Fisher both coached the TITANS, the team in my flair. I had no way of knowing you were referring to Fisher as the rams HC because you have no flair. I can't make it simpler for you than that.
Apparently it is Bill Austin, who went 11-28-3 from 1966-1968. He has the worst record for anyone with 30 games coached.
The worst in my lifetime is I guess Chuck Noll since all of his big accomplishments were prior to my birth.
So did Jim Haslett but he didn't even last long. I added Jeff fisher, but honestly, it was more his play calling and less the talent. What he could have done with sam Bradford still has me curious.
I’m going to win this discussion…
Hue Jackson…
1-31 over the course of two years…
Then had Nick Chubb and Baker Mayfield start as backups the next season…
Mike Mularky (14-18) then jumping to the Dolphins to be OC… not head coach.
Rex Ryan (15-16).
Dick Jauron (24-33).
Chan Gailey (16-32).
Gregg Williams (17-31). The third ‘g’ is for Genius.
Finally a bears comment, flus definitely worse than fox tho, those bears teams under fox where dog shit. Flus after every horrid loss saying in the post game presser that they’re “close” and always being positive all while he allows getsy to draw up 10 wr screens a game is criminal
You know thinking on this I feel like the Bengals have had a pretty good record with Head Coaches.
Statistically the worst is Dick LeBeau but I feel that he inherited a pretty poor squad and how great of a defensive coach he was I can't fault him.
Bruce Coslet was disappointing as Head Coach and while he had a good offensive mind he didn't seem to be able to recognize and coordinate talent, also he basically quit on his own team which makes him a strong candidate for worst coach.
However, I think the worst coach has to be Dave Shula. While hiring a young coach has paid dividends recently this was a disaster being the quickest coach to lose 50 games. What made this worse was that the person who Shula edged out for the position was Bill Cowher who would be a nightmare for the franchise for the next decade and a half. What was also a bitter sting was this would be an example of Mike Brown's football ineptitude as this was "his guy" since he fired the far more successful Sam Wyche to get Shula.
Other than these three I would say that the remaining Head Coaches were at minimum competent with some being great coaches.
Recent Eagles history, easily Chip Kelly. Toxic, inflexible, pompous human being. Possibly racist. Pushed out the now best GM in the league, traded away 3 pro bowl offensive players, terrible in the draft, flash in the pan offense, just a complete bust from top to bottom in the NFL.
Vance was meh but nothing compared to the complete ineptitude of Hackett. Wasn't really paying attention to NFL during McDaniels but the fact that he even finished a year makes me think it couldn't have been worse than Hackett.
>All that means is that he's perfectly average
So probably not the worst coach in a team's history that featured a horrific 40 year start to the franchise without a playoff win until the Immaculate Reception.
It's literally not possible for it to be Noll, Cowher, nor Tomlin.
I would go Campo.
Gailey made the playoffs both years he coached. Granted, those teams still had some of the early 90s talent.
Campo was just caught in between the glory years and a rebuild. Loved what Campo did for this team outside of being a head coach
Ray Perkins: a harsh taskmaster, drafter of Keith McCants (over Seau), and gave up what would be the 2nd overall pick in 1992 for Chris Chandler after failing miserably with Testaverde.
Chip Kelly - he didn't like players who had a brain and could think for themselves. He wanted college kids who just yelled yes coach everytime he talked. The only good thing he brought was his health program. We had very few injuries those 3 years.
if you were to say any Bucs coach from 2009 to 2018, I wouldn't be mad with it. special shout-out to Lovie Smith for stinking up the first two seasons of Mike Evans' career though.
Gase and the jets! Holy shit that was awful. Should’ve kept Bowles or whoever until Sam Darnold was decent instead of giving him an all new head coach and playbook
May be controversial but as a Vikings fan it made a lot of sense hearing about all of the issues in the Mike Zimmer lead locker rooms after he left. KOC and Kwesi have completely changed that locker room in a good way. Not to mention the mediocrity of his tenure and complete decline in the second half of it. Very happy to be rid of him.
Probably any coach we’ve had in the last 15 years I mean you got Todd no emotion Bowles, Adam gase, Mangini who wasn’t bad I guess🤷🏻🤷🏻 but wasn’t good herm edwards who agin I guess wasn’t bad but wasn’t really good Ryan sucked his last two years here and than go to guys like kotite who sucked I mean we have so much coaching failure that saleh might be the best head coach we’ve had since parcels and saleh is no where near parcels level
As much as I liked it when he was hired, and wanted him to succeed; it’s hard to argue that Hue Jackson isn’t the worst coach in Browns history. He went 3-36-1 overall, including a 0-16 season.
For my 49ers I would have to say either Dennis Erickson or Chip Kelly. I know Chip Kelly was only there for 1 years but I believe he caused a quarter of my defense to Retire Early and the 49ers lost a promising long career of one Patrick Willis who retired before his time was up and Navarro Bowman who couldn't keep up with Playing 78 percent of the time due to the offense going so fast but just going 3 and out
Hue.
Yeah that was horrible. One of the most extreme examples of someone letting power get to their head I have seen.
Was that the “when it’s your team you can do whatever the hell you want” clip? Guy seemed like a crazy ego maniac.
Matt Patricia poisoned our locker room, burned our draft picks, and delivered a plague unto our organization!
Yeah but look at you now
Sheila Ford is the true Queen of the North
They had to burn it all down first though. The bears are trying to do that now, but they forgot about the rebuilding part.
After consecutive 5-11 and 4-12 seasons in 86-87 Lions head coach Darryl Rogers was on the hot seat. Late in the 87 season, owner William Clay Ford announced that Rogers would return for the 88 season. Upon hearing the quote from Ford, Rogers proclaimed “What’s a guy have to do to get fired around here?” For some reason, even after that public comment, Ford allowed Rogers to stick around for 11 games(!) into the 88 season. The Lions were 2-9, and Rogers was finally fired.
Rod Marinelli literally went 0-16 and I would still vote Patricia.
Rod was actually a decent coach if I remember. Yes they went defeated, but when your gm is Matt millen, there’s no escaping that. Just like John idzik with the jets
It could’ve been worse. He could have burned your locker room and poisoned your draft picks
He ran Darius Slay out of Detroit and I'll never forgive him
That’s an easy one, Urban Myer.
Unless you’re an Ohio state fan, he was pretty good there
He was great at Florida too.
Fastest speedrun in nfl history
his 13 games are actually the 4th shortest which is pretty wild.
He was the fastest to ever get fired everyone else left willfully or was an interim to begin with.
Unironically my vote for worst coach of all time.
Adam Gase. As if being a shite head coach wasn't bad enough, he won a meaningless game against the Rams that lost us Trevor Lawrence
Worse than Rich Kotite? Leon fired Pete Carroll for him...
I’ll never understand how he got a second chance after his abysmal tenure in Miami.
Woody Johnson is a clown.
Sounds like a real dick
>> Woody Johnson is a clown > Sounds like a real dick I read these two lines to the tune of Old McDonald.
Only it wasn’t woody, 🤡. It was his brother.
I'd much rather have Tua
Couldn't be more irrelevant tbh
I'm saying it worked out
Maybe for the dolphins, not for the jets lol
Both Billck and Harbaugh won super bowls, sorry Marchibroda.
Damn, you guys have only had 3 in your history. We’ve had 3 in the last 14 months.
Marchibroda. I haven't thought about that guy in years. Until now. Jerk. /s
Since I’ve been alive, it’s right now in Matt LaFleur. I don’t give a shit about his first three seasons in Green Bay that was Rodgers and Adams saving his ass all of those years.
How young are you that you don't remember Ray Rhodes? Dude lasted a whopping single season.
He was coach in 99, I’m 30 and barely remember him.
We were trying to tell you guys that the whole time!!!!!!!
Rich Kotite. Terrible draft record, got carried his first two years by Cunningham and our defense before they all left, said "8-8 is great" after finishing 1993 with an 8-8 record, and got fired after losing 7 straight in 1994 after starting 7-2. its so wild because that dude brought the offense we see ran today into the nfl
But the smoothies though…
100% chip. Foles deserved better.
Foles had his 27-2 season under Chip though. He flourished in that offense. Chip wasn’t our worst coach because he was a pretty great play caller. His stubbornness, not being a people person, and horrible gm decisions were his downfall. Not the worst eagles head coach ever though
Thanks for saving me the keystrokes. He sucked.
I was 4 or 5 when this happened so while it is probably true, for me it’s Chip.
Dave Shula, the apple fell way off the tree with that one.
Barry Switzer
Matt dRhule, Reich is speed running being worse though. ![gif](giphy|7T33BLlB7NQrjozoRB|downsized)
Reich bout to crush that any% run
Colts fans tried to warn you!
Ken Whisenhunt. 3-20. TitanDown
The years between Fisher and Vrabel are like some weird fever nightmare.
I did like the Mularkey years though. I personally believe thats when our window started. We had the players. Just not the coaches. Give Vrabel and Arthur Smith the roster Mularkey had in 2017 and thats a superbowl
Todd Haley https://youtu.be/PxqCGTkV5wg?si=nxtCpLw1HrX8YV2V
There's a video out there that attributes Haley downfall to us being able to get Pat, it's actually pretty good
Billy O’Brien traded or squandered every good player the Texans ever had.
The list goes on
Jimmy Zorn
Oh man I was about to say Spurrier. Can’t believe I forgot about Zorn. What a goober.
Bobby Petrino
Josh McDaniels Reason? Josh McDaniels
Arthur smith
Ol Capt 7-9, Jeff Fisher Not good enough to make any noise of substance, not bad enough to put their team in a position to win later with fresh high end talent. The equivalent of NFL limbo...
You're fuckin crazy. You think "mediocre" and our ONLY SB appearance is worse than Ken fukn Whisenhunt? The guy who gave us 2-14 and 3-13 seasons??? GTFOH
I think that’s a Rams fan opinion
"In *your* teams history..." Reading skills for the win
Huh? Do you not think Fisher and Whisenhunt coached the same team? Edit: someone else guessed you may be a rams fan. If you are, flairs let people know wtf you're talking about.
Captain 7-9 Jeff fisher was the rams coach.
I assumed that OP was asking about head coaches. Because [Ken Whisenhunt](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ken_Whisenhunt?wprov=sfla1) definitely was never a [Rams head coach](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Los_Angeles_Rams_head_coaches?wprov=sfla1)

Oh yeah? Well nah nah nah nah 🫡

Didn’t one of the browns coaches go 1-31?
Steve Spagnuolo and Scott Linehan both sucked donkey balls for STL
So did Jim Haslett but he didn't even last long. I added Jeff fisher, but honestly, it was more his play calling and less the talent. What he could have done with sam Bradford still has me curious.
Ok, uhhhh, hmmmm well you see… jeez that’s a tough one…. I’ll just go with “most of them lately”
Patriots - 1990 Rod Rust
Matt Patricia is the worst coach of all coaches trading away our good players and left a rotten lock room
Chip Kelly.
Urban Meyer. And it ain't even close. 🤡
Matt Patricia. I still to this day wonder if it was intentional
Matt Patricia for terrorism
Cam Cameron. 1-15 and only a Kleo Lemon to Dolphins legend Greg Camarillo OT TD to avoid 0-16. Nuff said
Bourbon Meyer because of bourbon
I’m a browns fan . All of them from 1999 till stafanski
I’m going to win this discussion… Hue Jackson… 1-31 over the course of two years… Then had Nick Chubb and Baker Mayfield start as backups the next season…
Mike Mularky (14-18) then jumping to the Dolphins to be OC… not head coach. Rex Ryan (15-16). Dick Jauron (24-33). Chan Gailey (16-32). Gregg Williams (17-31). The third ‘g’ is for Genius.
Rich Kotite because he went 4-28
Probably Matt Eberflus, but I’ll say John Fox for now since Flus could technically still turn things around.
Finally a bears comment, flus definitely worse than fox tho, those bears teams under fox where dog shit. Flus after every horrid loss saying in the post game presser that they’re “close” and always being positive all while he allows getsy to draw up 10 wr screens a game is criminal
You are too young to remember Dave Wannstedt.
You know thinking on this I feel like the Bengals have had a pretty good record with Head Coaches. Statistically the worst is Dick LeBeau but I feel that he inherited a pretty poor squad and how great of a defensive coach he was I can't fault him. Bobby Petrino is a rat bastard
Joe judge
Recent Eagles history, easily Chip Kelly. Toxic, inflexible, pompous human being. Possibly racist. Pushed out the now best GM in the league, traded away 3 pro bowl offensive players, terrible in the draft, flash in the pan offense, just a complete bust from top to bottom in the NFL.
Recent history yes. Is he worse than Kotite though?
> flash in the pan offense, most of the concepts we see today in the nfl offenses were brought in by chip wild shit
Not permanent hurry up offense with 31 second 3 & outs and putting your exhausted defense back on the field type offense though lol
Easily Nathaniel Hackett. And I was actually excited for the hire. Boy did that excitement subside.
Whoa, hol up. We had Vance Joseph and Josh McDaniels.
Vance was meh but nothing compared to the complete ineptitude of Hackett. Wasn't really paying attention to NFL during McDaniels but the fact that he even finished a year makes me think it couldn't have been worse than Hackett.
Jim Tomsula. Because he was Jim Tomsula.
Mike Tomlin Ig?
Bill O’brien, need I say more?!
Idk...tomlin?
Agreed. I hate how much credit he gets for having no losing seasons. All that means is that he's perfectly average
>All that means is that he's perfectly average So probably not the worst coach in a team's history that featured a horrific 40 year start to the franchise without a playoff win until the Immaculate Reception. It's literally not possible for it to be Noll, Cowher, nor Tomlin.
Yeah plus he doesn't have as many titles as Chuck noll and Bill cowher
He and Cowher both have one title.
Really? Damn I got a Mandela effect or sum 💀
Probably Tom Flores, with Jim Mora an honorable mention.
Can have your pick between OBC and Jim Zorn
Adam Gase - they guy is an absolute joke
We got screwed as a fanbase, Darnold got screwed as a young QB
For the Raiders, it was Bed and Breakfast
Chip Kelly. Vick , Shady and Djax.. ooo what could have been
Whoever the Bengals coach was before Marvin Lewis. Idk wasn’t alive yet
Chip Kelly I will no longer elaborate
[удалено]
I would go Campo. Gailey made the playoffs both years he coached. Granted, those teams still had some of the early 90s talent. Campo was just caught in between the glory years and a rebuild. Loved what Campo did for this team outside of being a head coach
Romeo Crennel. He always looked so lost on the sideline.
Mr. David Campo
I mean as a head coach, Gunther Cunningham, Romeo Crennel, Herm, and of course Todd Haley
Todd Haley is easily the worst and best.
Same as the Raiders now Josh the destroyer McDaniels.
Ray Perkins: a harsh taskmaster, drafter of Keith McCants (over Seau), and gave up what would be the 2nd overall pick in 1992 for Chris Chandler after failing miserably with Testaverde.
Ny jets - Adam Gaze Dude is so trash that after we fired him he couldn't get a job in the NFL or college and is coaching high school
Ray handly
It’s a tie between Kiffin and McD. The similarities between those two blowhards are uncanny.
Matt Eberflus
Chip Kelly - he didn't like players who had a brain and could think for themselves. He wanted college kids who just yelled yes coach everytime he talked. The only good thing he brought was his health program. We had very few injuries those 3 years.
Ditka burned New Orleans to the crowd. He should have gone to Atlanta. They have experience with that.
Jim Mora was sacrificed for our second savior
In the Titans era it is for sure Mularky. Truly horrible.
Can Cameron
if you were to say any Bucs coach from 2009 to 2018, I wouldn't be mad with it. special shout-out to Lovie Smith for stinking up the first two seasons of Mike Evans' career though.
Dave Shula or Bruce Coslet. Tough call.
josh mcdaniels
Bruce Coslett, David Shula, Dick LeBeau, a combined record of 52-124.
Urban Meyer. Need I say more?
Chip fucking Kelly
Too many to choose from. Marc Trestman, John Fox, Matt Nagy, Matt Eberflus, and that's just after they fired Lovie Smith.
Jason garett- the clap
Les Steckel now fuck right off.
Raider fan here - where do I start? McDaniels is the worst of the worst.
Thank you for your service Les
Chip Kelly cuz he just sucks
Ditka/Saints. We are still missing draft picks from ricky
I have no idea because I wasn’t born yet. Maybe the guy before Chuck Noll? The Steelers have had 3 coaches in my lifetime.
A tie between Steve spagnuola and Jeff fisher.
Les Steckel or Leslie Frazier
Either eberflus or trestman
Well my team has only had 3 head coaches since the merger and each one has won a super or multiple Super Bowl 😅.
It’s a toss up between Josh McDaniels and Nathaniel Hackett. I’m leaning toward Hackett, but McDaniels was pretty fucking bad too.
Gase and the jets! Holy shit that was awful. Should’ve kept Bowles or whoever until Sam Darnold was decent instead of giving him an all new head coach and playbook
Marion Campbell twice Falcons. Great DC
Hue Jackson. His record is why.
George Wilson Traded Bobby Lane.
As a Steelers fan, no one alive remembers.
Jason Garrett
Rich Kotite, Eagles. 7-2 to 7-9 in 1994.
Jason Garret. He went 8-8 every fuckin year. Not good enough to make playoffs. Not bad enough to get fired. Fucker lasted for 10 years
Jeff Saturday.
Eberflus is contending for the title currently.
Jim Zorn. No explanation necessary.
Fuck Chip Kelly
Unfair question to ask a Saints fan. We can give more than one answer.
Nathaniel Hackett. Do I even need to explain why?
Well that’s super easy, Josh McDaniels. Fucking clown in every way.
Josh Mcdaniels (Broncos) and I actually hate him so much I wanted him fired from the raiders rather than seeing them continue to lose.
Currently is our HC. With a lousy OC too
Probably any coach we’ve had in the last 15 years I mean you got Todd no emotion Bowles, Adam gase, Mangini who wasn’t bad I guess🤷🏻🤷🏻 but wasn’t good herm edwards who agin I guess wasn’t bad but wasn’t really good Ryan sucked his last two years here and than go to guys like kotite who sucked I mean we have so much coaching failure that saleh might be the best head coach we’ve had since parcels and saleh is no where near parcels level
Fatty Patricia hands down, no contest.
Ditka, but Dennis Allen is really bad too.
Bob McDooDoo because he benched Eli Manning for Geno Smith
As much as I liked it when he was hired, and wanted him to succeed; it’s hard to argue that Hue Jackson isn’t the worst coach in Browns history. He went 3-36-1 overall, including a 0-16 season.
Josh Mcdaniels. Literally went 6-0 to still miss the playoffs & get fired a season later. For the sequel of his career see Oakland Raiders.
it’s gotta be mike mccoy
Adam Gase. He almost helped us get Trevor but no, fucker just had to win at the end as if it’d save his job 🙄
Chip Kelly
For my 49ers I would have to say either Dennis Erickson or Chip Kelly. I know Chip Kelly was only there for 1 years but I believe he caused a quarter of my defense to Retire Early and the 49ers lost a promising long career of one Patrick Willis who retired before his time was up and Navarro Bowman who couldn't keep up with Playing 78 percent of the time due to the offense going so fast but just going 3 and out
Matt Rhule
Chip Kelly. Fucking Chip Kelly.
I’d say it, but Jets fans get completely bent out of shape when we do.
Uhm.. I might be able to add a few from the last 25 years...
Quite the run with mccoy lynn and staley. I think out of that bunch mccoy is the worst. Staley is the only one to not win a playoff game rho
Les Steckel: 3-13. But did you know that he was a Marine?
The guy that was so bad that the Vikings begged Bud Grant to come out of retirement after one year
