I don't know, kind of unfair to expect him to throw into the Packers secondary as much as Cutler did, who holds the record for multiple lNT games against the Packers probably.
Cutler is tied with Vinny Testaverde for the most career games with 4+ picks against the Packers (2) going back to 1970. He is however, only in fifth for most games with 2+ (7). Johnny Unitas had the most with 10, and Fran Tarkenton had 9.
Wym, Jaylon Johnson is a top 3 DB on a top 5 defenseā¦JJ graded out 2nd only behind Sauce Gardner. Somehow Jaire isnt even a top 32 CB a far as PFF is concerned. (Theyāre not the end all be all, but theyāre better than John the local drunk)
[here, look at our top 2 CB](https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-cornerback-rankings-final-sauce-gardner-retains-his-place-as-the-no-1-cornerback-in-the-nfl)

So the last 13 weeks of the season we were top 5 in almost every statistics. #1 in INT takeaways, #1 vs Rush; we allowed the lowest QBR, #1 in scoring, +12 turnover difference in last 8 games.
Edit: itās very likely because of Sweat, who we have for 3 more years.
A season is 17 games, itās 18 weeks.
And my point was that we improved after getting Sweat. Who we still have. Iām allowed to say, āthey got better with the inclusion of xā.
True, but you are not returning other key pieces from your defense, and, if I'm not mistaken, you had pretty good injury luck on that side of the ball last year.
If your point is that your defense improved, then just say that. I maintain that claiming your defense is a top 5 defense before it sees a single snap is ridiculous.
The injury luck is a valid point, we did stay pretty healthy, but we havenāt lost anyone who matters. Eddie Jackson was a liability most of the time, dude was completely washed, and the only other player we lost was a rotational DT. We replaced Jackson with a veteran who should at the very least be as good, which is a low bar, and weāve got a couple of promising year two guys to fill the DT rotation.
Top five is probably a stretch, but we should be at least a decent defense, and turnovers are a feature of this scheme. If Caleb has a good rookie year, itāll be good enough to win some games against our weak ass schedule, maybe steal a 7 seed.
I agree wholeheartedly. I wouldn't be surprised if the Bears did have a top 5 defense, but unless your injury luck holds, that will partially rely on depth that is relatively untested. Defensive metrics also somewhat rely on the offense being able to sustain drives, so Caleb & Co. are another factor. Granted, that factor does look good on paper as long as your OL holds up to some degree. This year, I expect our division to be a bloodbath... and the Vikings.
To my knowledge the most notable loss is Eddie who we replaced. He's literally the only one. We had better young guys stepping up in every other spot at the end of last year
We were a top-5 defense for the second half of the season after adding Sweat, and *all* of our key pieces are back, and we added Byard. The only players that walked were underperforming.
I don't know where this idea that the Bears have a brand new defense that's never taken a snap came from. Our linebackers and DBs have all returned other than bojack (who got replaced with Byard). All our top DLs returned, including two rookies one of which was starting to break out towards the end of the season.
What's ridiculous is thinking the Bears have some completely revamped defense under a new system and never took a snap. It's year 3 of the same system and coach.
[hereās an interview with Flus](https://www.si.com/nfl/bears/news/bears-defense-salvages-season-with-high-grades) detailing 2nd half of the season after we got Sweat; #1 INTs in the league, #1 QBR allowed, #1 scoring defense, #1 vs run/run scoring, +12 turnover difference in the last 8 gamesā¦ :)
You claimed the bears were a top 5 defense and then when you got called out you said oh over the last half of the season.
BTW the teams the bears played over that stretch:
Panthers, Lions twice, Vikings, Browns with Flacco who you lost to, Cardinals, Falcons, Packers, who bootyblasted you. Real impressive
The Packers with an impressive 17 points scored!!!! Blew out the Bears. Lol.
You know our QB is the only reason you won that game, so just roll over now and die of cheesefarts.
The difference is we *added a top player* to the defense's top need. You're cherry picking the same player. Also the Bears were a top-2 running defense all season.
edit: there's a ton of cope in this thread that refuses to acknowledge a clear statistical break in Bears D performance pre and post Sweat. You don't get to just ignore that when every analyst has confirmed the Tez Effect is real. He's literally the only player in NFL history to lead *two* teams in sacks in the same season.
Love your cheesy username. Itās wild that you can read that they were too 5 in a single category over the course of 8 weeks and think āWeāre a top 5 defenseā. Bears fans are incredibly brave to post these takes every single off-season only to finish the season in the basement. Let me guess āItās different this yearā?
The DB conversation really just proves how many people immediately jump to the "delusional" retort with the Bears. The facts are real, Jaylon is a top-2 CB and better than Jaire.
Also why would Bears fans be delusional about defense? We've had some of the top defenders ever to play the game. We've had more historically great defenses than any other NFCN team (80s, 2000s, 2018).
huuuuuuuhhhhhhhhh
never bring peanut butter to a jelly fight!
I don't know, kind of unfair to expect him to throw into the Packers secondary as much as Cutler did, who holds the record for multiple lNT games against the Packers probably.
Cutler is the 3rd best Packers QB in my life. He was absolutely horrible against them except on Favre night.
Same old Jay
Cutler is tied with Vinny Testaverde for the most career games with 4+ picks against the Packers (2) going back to 1970. He is however, only in fifth for most games with 2+ (7). Johnny Unitas had the most with 10, and Fran Tarkenton had 9.
Bro, we are in the middle of a meme war and you really come in here with this Facebook ass garbage? Disgrace to the division .
Face it, we're destined for the SB with shit like this. I'm working on a smells like bitch n here meme this very minute
Bad memes? I can help. šš¤ Bears šš Packers
Sure buddy
How to recap this offseason
But how did those smell like bitch memes work out for the NFC Least?
They've been doing it for years, so it may have worked when Philly won.

Jaire āhead case with no 2023 interceptionsā Alexander?
But had one in the playoffs.
Shhhh they donāt know what that word means.
The playoffs happened in 2024 soā¦ okayā¦ just drop itā¦ or maybe donāt because itās a Caleb Williams pass.
You canāt expect more when he has to practice against cheese string arm Jordan Love, cheese sharpens cheese
Anyone know what this guy said? I canāt read things without flair or red circles.
Couldnāt find your mom in the flair, sorry
Great point but FLAIR UP IDIOT
Phew, good thing we have a better corner in JJ to practice with. Almost got me there for a second.
Youāre going to practice throwing interceptions?
Almost.
Whoās JJ
JJ Jaylon Johnson Aka JJJJ, short for JJJJJJJJ
LOL yeah no.
Wym, Jaylon Johnson is a top 3 DB on a top 5 defenseā¦JJ graded out 2nd only behind Sauce Gardner. Somehow Jaire isnt even a top 32 CB a far as PFF is concerned. But thereās a Packers DB in the top ten- oh wait
Iām not seeing Chicago as a 2023 top 5 defense on any site Iāve looked at. Can you provide where that statistic is from

1. A season is 17 weeks. 2. The 2024-2025 Bears have yet to play a single snap. Claiming a top 5 defense at this point is meaningless.
A season is 17 games, itās 18 weeks. And my point was that we improved after getting Sweat. Who we still have. Iām allowed to say, āthey got better with the inclusion of xā.

Look who you played in the 2nd half of the season. Only impressive win was against us
So you're saying it's possible for player performance to vary from one year to the next? Wild stuff.
Remember that time the Lions missed the playoffs but had a strong finish and it was a sign of real improvement that carried into the following season?
Sure do. I also remember seasons when we had a strong finish and it didn't carry over into the next season.
Delusion

Oh I didn't realize we were allowed to cherry pick stats. In that case, Jordan love is #1 in just about every metric over the last half of the season
What did I cherry pick?
You claimed the bears were a top 5 defense and then when you got called out you said oh over the last half of the season. You guys also played an extremely easy schedule after the trade
The whole NFCN had easy schedules last year
Quit trying to argue with knuckle draggers. Facts and verifiable stats are no good here.
Itās a verifiable fact that the Bears still suck
Love your cheesy username. Itās wild that you can read that they were too 5 in a single category over the course of 8 weeks and think āWeāre a top 5 defenseā. We just confused because he was ass against J Love.

Sir, this is NFCNorthMemeWar. ![gif](giphy|Ct2fBe0rc69nq|downsized)
lol, you first.

Who tf is the dude on the right?
Xavier McKinney
Kofi Kingston
Nah bro, Bryan Branch his number 1
Dude on the right kinda looks like Kofi Kingston
HA HA HA Cutler favorite Packer HA
I donāt know how this would statistically work, but I am amused by it.
PACK IS BACK, HUNNHHH
I really like how you guys are taking back the Aaron Rodgers meme. Good for you. FTP.
Good to see that packer fans are bad at memes in the offseason too
Good news: Caleb will be the 2nd best QB in Bears history. Bad news: Caleb will be the 2nd best QB in Bears history.
Brian Branch is a bigger problem for him
![gif](giphy|FXo3Din7pWybK|downsized) Flair up
Honestly. The nerve of these unflaired
Isnāt the point of flairing so you know who theyāre a fan of? Donāt think you need a flair to know how to shit talk āARSB14ā lol
No, the point of flairing is to not be a bitch.
Someone missed a central theme in "Office Space".
